Longer Ray 5 Laser Expansion Kit

Go BIG or go home! Adding a large expansion kit to my Longer Ray 5 laser and here is how to do it step by step, in detail.
This is NOT a 10 minute project! It entails complete disassembly of the original Ray 5 and then re-assembly with the expansion kit.
This is "part 1" of this project. In part 2, i will be adding drag chains, a baseboard, and custom layout grid.

Looks good. Having X & Y / gantry axis tape measure is a nice touch!! EDIT : That is a massive printing area!! Looks perfect for bulk orders. Great buy for the shop.

Informative video Roger - thank you. I have the same Longer Ray5 20W. In your next video you mention adding drag chains. Are they included or are you modifying the laser? My only "complaint" is the adjustment knobs for the laser head. Otherwise, it meets my needs.

Drag chains and mounts are of my own design and it became somewhat complex to make the existing (new) cable work without making it longer. The Y axis was actually easier than the X axis and I changed my design a few times there until I settled on where the drag chain would go. Looks odd on the X, but it works without having to make a chain carrier or extending cables.

10 x 20 drag chain amzn.to/3zfxWPv One is not quite long enough and required adding a few links extra. I already had plenty, so not a problem. There is a video coming up showing how I did this.
