Hello Rodger, do you have vids on importing digital pics to laser and what kind of software needed.
@rogersshop3 ай бұрын
It depends on what you are going to do with them. If I need to convert, I use Inkscape to make it a SVG. If a JPEG or PNG, just import direct into Lightburn. SVG also imports.

Hello Roger. I need a little of your guidance here. I seen some of your videos and i know you also made a video on the MecPow. I need to buy either the Longer Ray5 or the Mecpow like right now, but I dont know exactly which to choose. What do you sugest for a beginner like me? Would appreciate it
@rogersshop11 ай бұрын
The Ray 5 will allow you to work offline (not connected to a computer) via the micro SD card, where you can save files to cut/engrave. The Mecpow has limit switches where the Longer 10 Watt does not. However the Longer 20 watt does. Other than that, there is not much difference if looking at the 10 watt models of each.

Hi, I’m having trouble getting the screws with the nylon bushing in the back of the laser at 17:22. It seems like the thread isn’t long enough to catch the hole, no matter how much pressure I put. Would you recommend filing down the bushing or should I get a longer screw from the hardware store

This should easily fit. Is everything aligned properly? The nylon bushing should be the same thickness as the bracket and the screws should only be a mm or two longer.

Thank you for your video, I got my engraver together, and turned it on. Is it supposed to have the fan running as soon as you put the power on?

Quick question, I purchased this (the 5 watt model). Firstly, I am new to engraving. All I want to do is to put the contents of a text file on a piece of metal (Aluminum or sheet metal, doesnt much matter to me). I am assuming I will be able to do this, but again just want to confirm with someone that has experience with these machines. Thanks in advance
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Yes, a 5 watt laser will do this fine. However, the metal needs to have a coating, such as anodized, powder coated, or painted. A diode laser will not directly engrave, or etch, aluminum or steel.

I PUT FILES ON THE LONGER SD CARD BUT THEY DO NOT SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN.
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Files must be GCODE or they will not work when put on the card. For example, you cannot run a Lightburn fille from the card. It must be converted to gcode first.

Can you program it then leave it to engrave or do you need to watch it work? I have one of these engravers still in the box. On Y thing ai am not happy about is a built in bed plate. Does it attach to PC by Bluetooth or only wired?
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what you mean by a built in bed plate(?) GCODE can be saved to the TF card and projects run from the touch screen. This is especially handy when making repeat projects and does no tie up a computer. A few words of caution: Never leave a laser (ANY brand) running unattended. While you don't need to actually watch it, be in the area, close by. WIFI and Bluetooth are neat technologies and have their place. However, I NEVER run a project on a laser, 3D printer, or important documents on a printer over wireless. ANY interruption in signal can result in dropped packets and a ruined project. With my lasers, I either run direct connect via USB or from a SD/TF card. This comes from the "School Of Hard Knocks"!

@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Are you using Absolute Coordinates in Lightburn before you export the GCODE? If not, the file may start in some random spot when run from the touch screen.
@Fossy35 Жыл бұрын
@@rogersshop Sorry Roger. I’m so new to this. If I run the frame on Lightburn it goes exactly to the right place (the centre). On the machine it frames in the bottom left corner and about 5 times the size. How do I use coordinates in Lightburn. Would it be possible to send you the gcode for you to try? Thank you so much for your reply and for helping me put it all together. John
@Fossy35 Жыл бұрын
I don't need to send you the file Roger. When I load the supplied compass file (on the supplied micro SD card) into Lightburn it positions in the middle of the screen. When I run frame in Lightburn it frames the design in the centre perfectly. When I remove the SD card and put it into the Laser and activate the frame from the touchscreen it starts in the bottom right. Its really frustrating.

If the roller bearings (wheels) do not easily fit over the Y axis rails to roll it on, then you may need to loosen the eccentric on the bottom rollers a little.

@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Check Y axis cabling, stepper motor, belts, and stepper motor belt sprocket for tightness. If Y axis stepper motor does not run with a Y axis jog, it is either the cabling or a bad stepper motor. If it runs, but axis does not move, check the other items above. If you have the 20watt model with limit switches, make sure the Y axis limits are not closed.

@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Make sure focus is set correctly, first. For a setting, try 3,000 mm/min @ 60% power as a start. Make SURE you are set to mm/min and not mm/sec. This makes a huge difference. I only use mm/sec on my CO2 laser.
