Handicapped shooting don't count but none the less that's quite a frigging distance I suspect the arrow hit at a nearly perfect vertical drop on the target. Unless your suggesting the shot was at nothing I could run forward with the bow drawn at a 50 degree angle and shoot anywhere close to 700 yards maybe even further.

Sorry to say bud, I've hit a shot with a 90lb draw PSE omen and 20% letoff and it was over what you said the record to be, it was at least another 190 yards over the 250 yard target but I believe it was over 610 yards give or take on a 8ft by 8ft target with a deer in front of it. This was when the PSE omen came out.

Well your both going to have to take a back seat to me. Because I shot a cow one year in Colorado at about 400-500 yards. With a rubber tipped bird arrow! I did it with a Pearson ghost bow. You can check the year they came out with that bow and that was the year I did it! Fun fact... The cow bucked when I hit it and kicked the arrow and bent it! I figure that was karma for hitting a moo cow.

Oh you mean longest shot on a target...I thought you meant just the longest shot ....the longest shot on record was from a Turkish bow that sent an arrow over 400 fps and came back to earth at right around 1000 yards away..set back in the 1720's I believe

What they really use for a shot like this ,,is a very tall object in backgound. Like the trees in this case. Aim at the top of the tree and see where it hits, adjust accordingly. Shooting at 100 yrds is more impressive if you have a actual sight pin for that distance,,that is on the target. Not aiming at some fixed object in the sky. you cannot make them shots in any other area since your background object has changed. My sight on my bow will only allow a 80yrd shot and I then run out of room for adjustment. Every bow has a sight limit,,but you adjust into any distance range you want.

the conversion between ancient units and actual are not well known and the numbers were usually highly over estimated... For instance, the english warbows of 150 pounds were claimed to go throught a horse and kill a man behind. Many replicas of this power were made... same weight, even longer draw and they never gone through a horse body... Everyone used to claim higher performance to get others jealous... (same as now finnally...) but the performances and distances were not what you say. And it does make any sense for mounted archery like turkish to shoot at this distance even for a non mounted, it is impossible to shoot at this distance the target has just to move a little to dodge the arrow. it make much more sense to them to do the traditionnal mounted games like in turky, it needs speed shouting, riding mastering, ability to shoot in anyposition... it make realy more sense for a ligth cavalry like they used to use... Bows had good performances anyway, many people neglect the power and the danger of a bow. but no need to claim irealistic perfomances...

There is literally no point in these kinds of test. You are taking physics and literally throwing in a random number generator; also based on physics... so when these kinds of shots land, it's the same thing as hearing a story about how someone won the mega millions jackpot... this is not a lack of skill or knowledge... but it's a MASSIVE element of luck, IF you have the math right. Same goes goes for guns... you see these guys making 1 mile shots... ok after how many 10's of thousands of people made those SAME shots, UNRECORDED. It's literally a law of averages. It's not that special. Proof that people are just monkeys...

The first part of the video shows clearly the shooter standing in the ground. After that the second half of the video was us trying to get further on a different piece of land and was not able to hit the balloon. We are happy the first part that was successful at an extremely long distance.
