The longest taxi ever was a cargo plane on one of the fast n furious movies. By my calculation, that had to be at lest a 20 mile long runway..

Another great video Ben. I remember flying into EHAM in MSFS and being gobsmacked at the size of the airport and the complex taxiways. As for the wave from the KLM crew, when at EGGP on one of my solo flights I had vacated at Foxtrotand told "give way to the A320 left to right", they were on the main Alpha taxiway, and I got wave from the right hand seat: made my week let alone my day :-) I was in a Tommy!

Ben, remember a visit to Amsterdam with my wife, went from Leeds Bradford (LBA). On arrival into AMS it was great to see you don’t leave the airport but go on the double decker train direct into Amsterdam. After a great day, which at the start of your video, you all seem to have had we return to airport. On pushing back the Captain (Jet2) announced we were taking a tour of the airport as we also took off on 36L now I can see why. Great Video and great work between you two pilots. @@PlaneOldBen I still don't quite understand why they take everyone round Y instead of crossing 36C at W5 in between landings. I can only assume they are worried about dawdlers crossing or misheard crossing clearances. I guess Y is much safer for them despite it eating more fuel.

Nice video. Due to landings on RW27 you could not use RW04 (as told by ATC), which is normal. Bad thing for you that they where also landing on 36C so you had to go all the way around, normally you could have crossed RW36C via taxiway W5 (saves about 5 min). You could have asked for take off RW27 between the landing planes (not sure what time you where leaving and if there where many planes on final) Or asked for RW36R, due to your weight you would not need the whole runway, and a nice shot of the tower as you pass by on the heading 270. Further, nice communication skills and yes there are a lot of frequencies at Schiphol. You had to switch to several controllers (Delivery, South Ground, Tower, Center Ground, Tower, North Ground, 2de Tower, Departure). That 2de tower is only for RW36L as de main tower can not see that RW.
@bobjhg38875 жыл бұрын
Correct and in addition to that, due to landings on 27 and 36C in the landing peak at that moment, ATC could probably not fit you in due to capacity of 27 and your crossing after t/o of 36C (in case of a go-around there). Small aircraft like the SR22 are rare at EHAM, and there is hardly room for off-standard procedures. The crossing at W5 is only done when 36C-18R is not active, but it was active at that moment. In that case all traffic (big or small) must taxy 'the long way' via Y or Z. Clearly you had one of the rare occasions where the active RWY combinations left no room for anything else then this. But then again, isn't it great to see almost the whole airport in this way ;-)
