I worked in one of their corporate offices during college. The marketing team I worked with was always very busy with managing existing partnerships, enacting new ones, various press and event promotions, and even monitoring other airlines' public ads and events to better gauge the market. Our stockroom was always full of promotional items to give away such as model aircraft, cutlery, clothes, and whatnot. We're not the most important destination, but the amount of work to become the preferred partner for multiple companies so that their people would fly with us was heavy. Glad I was part of the team even if it was just for a few months.

If you don’t mind my asking, did you end up pursuing a career in the airline industry? I’m curious, because it sounds like your internship gave you some really valuable professional experience that would be useful in almost any industry-at minimum, for someone broadly interested in marketing/advertising/PR. Is that an accurate assessment? If an entry-level candidate had something like that on their resume, it would certainly pique my interest as a hiring manager, even if they didn’t have any experience in my industry. Thanks!

Though there is a lot of Canadian government resistance, I would like to see Qatar Airways operate to Vancouver, BC. There is a large population of residents with roots in India that frequently travel home. The Doha hub is a perfect place to facilitate transfer to destinations in that area and many other.
@conorcorrigan7653 жыл бұрын
Arguably DEL is an even more convenient transfer point for Indians, and Air India and Air Canada both already offer nonstops from YVR, plus the new service to IST with Turkish Airlines.

@mayuresh Raich Yes, it's true we even have an Indian running for Prime Minister... It's funny I feel the same way about Air Canada as you do about Air India lol... @mayuresh Raich Over the past several decades there has been a large influx of people from India. Canada is a large country and immigration is one of the few avenues for growth. Though there has been some cultural friction, immigrants have settled in well and most elect to become Canadian citizens. There are strong bonds still present with families and relatives in India. It is natural that this would generate a demand for transportation for visits and commerce. One might suppose (though I have no statistical data) that this market is underserved in some areas of Canada. Qatar Airways would provide a viable alternative for those connecting onward to countries in this area AND improve connection alternative to Africa.

@@conorcorrigan765 DEL isn’t comfortable for most of southern India. It’s also a very poorly serviced airport. There aren’t many travellers from southern India to Canada but to the U.S., you’ll be amazed. Qatar and Emirates make a killing servicing South Indian travel to the US.

As an American, I do have a couple questions about some US-bound routes they fly: Why do they fly to Atlanta while ignoring Charlotte (which could net them more connecting traffic)? Why do they fly to Houston at all (while ignoring Phoenix [which again, could get terminating AND connecting traffic])? I guess you could sum these questions up as why they don’t serve all oneworld hubs in North America (and yes I know I didn’t ask about Portland).

Qatar is going to be one of the winners in the post covid era. They have maintained many of their international routes while other legacy carriers like Qantas, Air NZ, Air Canada, Malaysia, BA and others suspended many of their routes. Customers will not forget this
@TysonIke3 жыл бұрын
I think that Qantas, Air New Zealand, and Air Canada will win their customers back. Air Canada still dominates at basically every aspect on flights from Canada. Air NZ basically does the same but from New Zealand. Qantas has other issues such as their fleet which will definitely restrict them but they are now the only long haul airline based in Australia.
@TysonIke3 жыл бұрын
@mayuresh Raich British Airways has always been that airline that provides bad service. In the past they were saved by the government but I don’t think that the government will do what they did in the past. British Airways also has a product that falls behind most of their competitors as on routes to the Americas United, Delta, and Virgin have better products. British Airways is also losing the UK market as airlines like Lufthansa and KLM have more destinations from their main hubs than British Airways has from their main Heathrow hub.
@JayMcGowan3 жыл бұрын
@@TysonIke Not sure agree, at least with your position on Air Canada. Air Canada's service is quite slim compared to the options offered by connecting through the hub in Doha for travel to that region. If the comments from SkyTrax are any indication, passengers travelling on Qatar Airways out of Montreal were much happier than those on Air Canada. The same is true for Qatar Airways and Air New Zealand. The Doha/Aukland route has been receiving very positive reviews though they took a hiatus during the pandemic. They are scheduled to return this November.
@TysonIke3 жыл бұрын
@@JayMcGowan Qatar won’t be stealing much Air New Zealand passengers. Air New Zealand codeshares with ANA, Singapore airlines, Air Canada and United through Star Alliance. And other then the one fifth freedom route from Los Angles to London Air New Zealand hasn’t served Europe recently. Also Qatar won’t steal passengers from Air Canada as Qatar only serves Montreal which means they can only connect Montreal to India and other Middle East countries. That isn’t that big of a market.

*Theorists have modeled an expanding spacetime-akin to our Universe-by taking inspiration from a string theory framework in which spacetime is emergent.There are many strategies in quantum gravity for constructing an expanding universe. One approach is to find an appropriate “string compactification”-a type of architectural map for strings and membranes-which builds up a universe with a positive cosmological constant. It is possible to construct nearly stable universes in this manner [3], but these constructions possess features that make them unrealistic. The difficult problem of constructing more realistic model universes is a topic of ongoing and active research.Appreciating how striking this statement is requires some unpacking. On the one hand, we have a theory of quantum gravity, say, in 3 + 1 dimensions-3 space dimensions and 1 time dimension. On the other hand, we have a so-called “conformal field theory” (CFT) in 2 + 1 dimensions. This CFT does not include gravity; it is a theory that has the basic trappings of the standard model of particle physics but additionally possesses exaggerated symmetries. The AdS/CFT correspondence means that a dimension of space emerges as we toggle between the gravity-free CFT world and the gravity-filled AdS world.Accordingly, a dS/CFT correspondence-if it were fully realized-would equate quantum gravity in de Sitter spacetime to a non-quantum-mechanical conformal field theory without time.*

Qatar started flying to Canberra, Australia in 2018. 1 of only 2 international flights (the other being Singapore Air) serving CBR. The main reason was to get an extra daily flight to Sydney. The Qatar-Australia air service agreement allows for 21 flights by Qatari airlines to the 4 main Australian international ports (SYD, MEL, PER, BNE) each week and other ports are unlimited. QR had used up those 21 flights with their daily flights to Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. However, the agreement allows for an extra 7 weekly flights to a major port, provided it is to/via an unlimited port. So they started DOH-SYD-CBR. The flight is currently suspended due to the pandemic.

QR is absent in Central Asia and start adding cities like Tashkent Ashgabat Bishkek and Dushanbe to its route map. Similarly it should add more routes in the Balkans and SubSaharan Africa.

You said twice that they had ordered their "first A380" both in 2001 3:17 and again in 2007 4:10 So which one it is!?

Qatar is definitely a Co with Vision. It’s CEO once said in an interview I have amazing plans for the future but you never disclose those to your rivals An Astute businessman indeed Very interesting info on Qatar’s past magnifico and that the CEO is thinking on cutting emissions which one day will be mandatory anyway CO2. Emissions not sustainable in the 21st century 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧👍🥇⭐️✈️

When it's fully tie up with Alaska, they will really deal a blow to Delta. I am a top elite with Delta but if Qatar can handle all my transoceanic needs, I would drop Delta in a heartbeat.

@@_w_w_ delta has a much stronger domestic network in the US through its ATL hub. Delta also has a great transatlantic and transpacific market through Air France, KLM, Korean air, and Virgin Atlantic

@@jeromebennett9154 I am Delta DM, I know their route well enough to remember flight numbers and log 250k of so annually. Delta is not very strong on west coast and its products are just average. Alaska is very strong and even more so after VX and it only need a good international partner. Don't get me started on Delta's TATL TPAC partnerships, all are very disfunctional for passengers.
