These public employees are doing the right thing about CALLING THE POLICE. They should call the police. Something unusual is happening at their place of business and the person doing it, is refusing to express why they are doing it or turning down requests for assistance or help. The police are SUPPOSED TO RESPOND, we want them to respond. to me this is when the audit really starts. How does the police handle the situation. Some have huge egos and need to be "trained" and others are professional, know the laws and are fine. What happens is there is a person taking photos or video taping "casing" the building to bomb it, and no one calls... You don't wait for something nefarious to occur, you act proactive. It's how they handle it. LIA does an awesome job, very respectful and knowledgeable.

Agreed! As an auditor myself, there are quite a few that I don't watch (or record with) anymore because of how they act. When I started, the whole point of auditing was to educate, when needed. As a European, something really surprises me from these videos: is every American living in fear of anything that's out of the ordinary? Why are people feeling threatened by someone with a phone?
@toomanybrews71232 жыл бұрын
People in the US prioritize privacy more than most other places. Unfortunately that means that we also have a bad habit of demanding privacy in situations where privacy isn't legally protected. It isn't that people are afraid, it is just that people are weirded out by having others recording them. It feels wrong. Much of Europe is completely oversaturated with cctv and maybe that is why you guys don't have the same response.
@jacobgonzalez96242 жыл бұрын
I feel it's more of a "I work here so you have to listen to me" type of mind set. People aren't challenged like this on the regular. If someone was on the public sidewalk filming my house, my backyard, my cars, etc I would want the police to show up and "investigate". I think most of us would. Shawn, you have such a way with people. Conflict resolution starts with communication. LE go to is intimidation, overtalk, rudeness ( in most situations), but you disarm them with calm and polite conversation. I applaud you for that and that's why you are one of my absolute favorite auditors. One of the #1 purposes of doing these videos is to "bridge the gap" as you mentioned. But, we cannot accomplish that with hostility, violence, and animosity. As hard as it is sometimes, because the public often feels and IS the victim or victimized by law enforcement, we MUST come to a place of common ground to work together. They need to respect the rights of the American people. And when that happens, I think we will have achieved at least a small portion of the goal. Thank you so much for what you do.

For the millionth time....security camera footage is there for SAFETY and is NOT released to social media for clicks, views and money.
@Toastybees3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyDragonsblood For the millionth time it's there for accountability, not safety. The camera isn't going to jump off the wall and save anyone, it would be used in court after things happen. The camera in hand is also for accountability, and if you have a problem with people filming public places to earn money then you should rail against people filming national parks and posting it.
@LadyDragonsblood3 жыл бұрын
@@Toastybees First of all, when I mean safety, I mean the security camera will "speak" to the actions of someone if they come and commit some kind of terrorist act, as you said, for accountability. Secondly, a building is NOT a public forum, it is a limited public access. And rules and polices can LEGALLY be applied. A National Park can still have rules but so far, there are no rules about photography, so you can film there all you want. The problem is this, just because a building is owned or controlled by the government, does not mean you can do whatever you want....and that is according to a court ruling. The ruling states: It is INDISPUTABLE "That the First Amendment does not guarantee access to property simply because it is owned or controlled by the government." You need to learn the difference between a Public Forum and a Limited Public Access. Also, the First Amendment says nothing about photography or video recording. It says you have the right to redress your government...you do not need a camera for that... a journalist has pad and paper, so they are not taking away any rights. You are just mad because you can't do it the way YOU want to do it, because some people think they are above the rules and policies....the LEGAL rules and policies.
@Toastybees3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyDragonsblood You are completely out of your mind if you think a pad and paper is sufficient in modern times. The first amendment was written before cameras existed sweetie, of course it doesn't say anything about them, but the bill of rights either needs to be interpreted through a modern lens or it is completely useless. A rule or policy is not the law, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are. And whole the government does not have to allow access to government property, they don't, but in this case they allow open access. If the public can walk in at any time the building is open they have the right to film.
@LadyDragonsblood3 жыл бұрын
@@Toastybees Pad and paper works just fine, and has since the beginning of time. Again, you don't understand about Limited Public Access and Public Forum. Also apparently you don't understand the Tenth Amendment. No, just because the public can walk in, does not mean you have the right to film. Where do you get these ideas? You really need to stop getting your law information from KZbin University or FaceBook College. You are 100% wrong. Please do a SERIOUS study of Limited Public Access and Public Forums....and NOT from Google. Go to this building called a Library, and pick up this thing made of thinly pressed and bound wood... with black ink on the pages, called a BOOK... and LEARN THE TRUTH before you speak of things.

I believe they are truly insulted that a citizen would walk into THEIR building not bow down or capitulate to their perceived authority.
