Longleat Estate: Heaven's Gate! A Local Walk in Wiltshire

A local walk around parts of the Longleat Estate, in Wiltshire, taking in the famous Heaven's Gate sculptures.
We also walk through Longleat's Horningsham village, showing you the Holy Well, the largely rebuilt, 18th century St John the Baptist church, the manor house, a WW2 bunker and monument and the village hall.

Lovely video of my "nans house" ❤ I discovered a Viscount Weymouth on a war memorial in Shropshire. Apparently he was the heir to Longleat but he was killed in ww1. They owned some mines in Minsterley and that's why his name is on memorial.

That bad weather came from no where! I had not realised Longleat Estate had field hospitals in WW1, I suppose it was common for the Estates to lend themselves and their grounds to the injured service personnel. I have actually been to Heaven's Gate before, a few years ago now, I love the view from up there. Great video, hope all is well with you both, Winnie x

We used to holiday with my uncle and aunt in Weymouth (Dorset) when I was a kid and I remember a day out at the Lions of Longleat, got to be 50 years ago now. Loved the horse jumping 😂 but nearly a refusal, which may have been less painful. Interesting story about Heavens Gate and was it the new Lord Baths wife on Strictly Come Dancing? You picked a great day for a walk and a nice place to stop for a brew. Loved that corridor when all the badger sets were, I bet that is a glorious walk in mid summer. I wonder what the significance of the Star of David on the church, never seen that before and real pleased I never saw a ghostly face pressed up against the Vicarage window😳. I think I mentioned it was a real nice day for a hike - yes, that was unexpected😂, just as well that hat is bomb proof! Cheers Alan

Stargate lol - nice! Interesting camera switch on the approach (nice edit!). Also interesting walking backwards on a bridge while doing a piece to camera (usually folk walk forwards to avoid falling in!). The wood you walked through was obviously Merc and you’re wrong about the badgers - they were crawlers (nibble your ankles all day). Your “double teaming” has come on with a leap and a bound - you are both finishing each other’s sentences more naturally AND there is much more interaction. The vicarage window was cool, are you sure it wasn’t Rapunzel locked in there? Watch out for camera shadows guys - they have caught me a million times - pesky things! You live in a beautiful part of England and I love your films 8)

Lord Bath was something special, we didn't even mention his 60+ wifelets!! The safari is a family favourite and it is a bust place in the summer. Great place, special place in both our hearts. Gday Bernie! Dont be sorry, Ceri here and I laughed hard too, some bits I watch over and over when editing lol. The hat definitely saved Kat from a pelting, I'm surprised only one made it in! It was a poor effort I admit, so it's a no to show jumping, no to hill running, am I heading to the glue factory? Hello Ken, Aspen, we hope you are good and well. Thank you so much for you fabulous feedback ❤ The walks vary, we have been a bit naughty on the local ones recently and haven't been recording them, we would estimate the last two walks (Longleat and the Maiden Bradley videos) to be around 6/7 miles each. We will get back in the habit of showing maps and clocking miles again soon. A leisurely 3 hours, with pits stops for teas and photos ☕❤ This is a valid point about the trousers, pot, kettle.....red! Hahaha hope you guys are well, Ceri and Kat ☕❤🤗

We are hoping to see Aspen for a brief visit in the parking lot in mid-April but Interlochen has a contained campus because of COVID so we won't really get to see her until the end of the term at the end of May. In the meantime, I am exploring closer to home, doing some birding and planning a couple summer trips with Aspen.
