AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on KZbin are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

I ran into them in the campground as they were leaving for the horseback ride in this video. Meeting them in person helps to understand why their channel is so successful. They are very personable, clever and friendly. Exactly like in the videos. It was weird after watching so many videos talking to them in person. Same voices I am very familiar with. Same personalities. And the gave me a LoLo sticker! It was very cool to meet them in person.

RV water pump spares are a vital accessory. In our 2015 Lazy Daze Class C, I have carried a backup water pump since 2016. Like Ronny, I offered my extra pump to my good friend, Ron, while our LD gang had our annual get together in Morro Bay, Ca. His pump was leaking constantly and was able to tighten a couple of fittings to stop the leak. Thank goodness. I still have my spare H2O pump. By the way, water can be retrieved from your fresh water tank by placing a bucket below the fresh water tank drain valve. Hope I never have to do this, but it is a simple, practical way to get water when your RV water pump fails or your RV electrical system fails. Love your videos. Love the Tetons. 2022 will see my daughter and myself in Yellowstone at the West Thumb. Probably hang out at a few other areas as well. Thanks for the great tips.

If you still have the old pump, you should try repairing it to keep as a spare. They can often be brought back to life by removing the 6 screws from the pump assembly and cleaning out the valves inside or by replacing a $5 switch. Use KZbin to find lots of DIY videos on the subject.

That's what I did after my original pump quit. Turns out it was one of the rubber valves gone bad. So got a valve replacement kit, changed out the head and now have a spare pump.
@AcmeRacing

@@edhickl205 That's my style. I wouldn't spend $90.00 on a spare I may never need, but I'd totally rework a used one and throw it in my RV toolbox. Fortunately, they don't usually fail all at once. You'll probably notice them getting weak or sounding different before you completely lose your water.

We carry a spare water pump, refrig motherboard & refrig fan, gas bottle pigtail, toilet gasket seal, no-blow fuses for the Barker jack, 20a fuses for the breaker panel. What can't you do without? If it breaks can you get by? Some parts are harder to find, our CCC2 furnace/air thermostat failed and even the Airstream factory didn't have one. Love your sence of humor. See you down the road.

Repairing the pump can lead to a forensic investigation into its failure. Possibly a real reason it failed or an indication of just poor quality

Just further proof of the fact the RV’ers are amazing people who, if at all possible, will help another RV’er. I just got home from a weekend camping trip (I’m a solo camper) and I was able to give one couple, who were new to RVing, an additional length of sewer hose and lent another camper my impact wrench. It made me feel so good to be able to pay forward what has been done for me many times!!

We carry a spare water pump but it serves a purpose beyond "just a spare". We use it when boondocking to pump water from portable jugs (similar to those shown in a previous video) into the fresh water tank (it beats holding 40 pounds up to the filler port). With the pump we have input and output hoses (with appropriate fittings) and 15 feet of wire with a fuse and switch. We power it from a 12v outlet (Anderson powerpole) we added to the outside of our battery box (we have internal lithium batteries so "jumper cable clips" on the batteries in the box doesn't work for us).

I realized that I have not read all the comments here, but I would offer an alternative, had you not have found your friend with a water pump! And this can also be of help to other people in the future. Go to your low drain point, drain out a bucket or 2 of water, heat it up, granted you cannot take a shower, but you can wash and clean youself..or..take an outdoor shower in a shower tent, with a portable shower, or a pressurized, hand pump sprayer..and you can also dump water in the commode for flushing or flushing! :) Been there done that !

A spare water pump is a good idea. We carry an extra 75 gal of water in an after market water tank that fits in our F150 tow vehicle bed. We purchased a small portable water pump to pump from the truck to the trailer, in an emergency such as shown here we could use the portable water pump to supply the trailer until we can get to town. In an emergency we could hook the portable pump to the city water input on the trailer using a pressure regulator. Keeps from having to break camp just to get a new pump. The tank in the truck is permanently mounted and plumbing to the tailgate, out truck has a 120 Vac outlet in the bed and we use a small 300 watt inverter to power the pump. So far this has worked for us as we boondock 99% of the time. Really enjoy the LoLoHo video's, Keep up the great information.

Sean, The timing of this video was perfect for us. We are heading out again next week, and you are the 2nd person to recommend that I buy a spare RV Water Pump Revolution ... so I did! THX!!! Also ... I'm the guy from Oregon (in the Allegro Red coach) that was right across from you guys a couple of years ago in Gros Ventre, with the extra water jugs. If I could recommend in addition to that video, getting yourself a Harbor Freight "Battery Operated Liquid Transfer Pump" ($9.99) to pump water fro your water container into your fresh water tank. As you point out, the jugs get heavy, and these little "D cell" pumps make the job so much easier. I also have a 2nd transfer pump that I use for my DEF. Like you two, Gros Ventre is one of our favorite campgrounds ... not for everyone ... but great for seeing moose in camp!

I've always carried a spare water pump. In just under 5 years, its come in handy twice. I used it once to help a friend out of a jam (like yours) and one to get myself out of a jam (both were shurflos but that is still the brand I use). After mine failed, I installed a large accumulator tank, one to reduce the cycling on the pump and two to get steady water. Time will tell if it improves the longevity of pump. Other spares I carry: FUSES (obviously) but not just the blade type, I also carry the glass tube type (go ahead ask me why :-)) Here is a hint, in my case, they're located behind my fridge. Replacement breakaway switch (yup kids accidently activated it and it wasn't resettable) . Two 5ft foot lengths of 1/2 PEX along with assortment of sharkbites. The list goes on and on but those are a few things folks might not think about and they're pretty light to carry. Cheers!

After being' on city water for about 5 days we planned on boondocking at another campground. To our surprise, our water pump would turn on but would not pump. We couldn't find a new one being it was a Sunday in Steamboat Springs, Co. So...... we took it out and started taking it apart. It has a rubber/silicon diaphram that appears to be stuck in one position. We took it out and cleaned it and spring and it worked! Now when we are on city water for awhile, we turn it off and use the water pump for a few minutes so it doesn't get stuck in one position. It was really a simple repair. The hardest part was crawling under kitchen sink and removing the water pump. We now carry a spare but at least we know how to repair.

Having spares of thing like that is a great idea. I would also go as far as to have it installed next to the main water pump and plumbed in with valves so it can be isolated. That way, if the main pump goes out (usually when it is dark and far more difficult to replace), all you have to do is close the valves on the main pump and open the valves on the spare and move the electrical plug from the main to the spare. 60 seconds and you are back in business no matter how dark it is or how bad the weather.

By the way, you are now the sixth KZbin channel to have replaced a water pump of the channels I watch. So a spare is good advice

Wow! Someone suggested using the spare pump to deliver water into the fresh tank when boondocking. It will take a little setup, but I think it's a great idea. Not only will the spare make boondocking easier, it will be there in case the main pump fails.

Sean, did you find any mom and pop stores that sell elk burgers? When I lived in Idaho , you'd see stores that sold elk burgers like stores back home sell boiled peanuts. There is also a restaurant on the Idaho side of Grand Targhee that has a hamburger as big as a plate. They were closed everytime I was up that way, but I hear good things. Travel safe.

For higher elevations an aspirin and plenty of water thins your blood a little. Makes it easier to replenish oxygen. ✌️✌️🥾

Just started watching your videos and love them. My wife and I are a bit older than you but are now semi-retired so we recently bought a Vista Cruiser and want to do similar trips up here in Canada. I dam near spit out my Scotch at your Monty Python references to the dead parrot skit when describing your water pump. Great videos - keep it and travel safe. Cheers from Canada.
