Question for you about filming in NP's... My understanding is that as long as you are not a "Film crew" type setup, that it's ok to do so. Meaning, a group that takes a lot of people, equipment and space to film. If that was the case, then yes you would need permits. I see all kinds of people filming in the NP's, even ones that receive monetary support/income from things like KZbin. Am I mistaken?

I have e been using my Lynx leveler since 2017 or 2018....I think I have broken two. I think climate might have something to do with it. I also have some RV Care brand levels that are the yellow lego blocks. I have broken like 10 of them. I also have the Anderson Leveler. I have only used it once.
@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
Yes, I can definitely vouch for the durability of the Lynx levelers. I think we broke one in 17 years. The original storage bag has just about disintegrated, but the old levelers are still going strong.

We have been camping with various trailers for close to 20 years and have never used any of those products you mentioned. On our 2005 Classic we use the bubble levels on the front and back of the trailer along with eyeballing it to see if it's level. We also use the lego blocks. The trailer is level when it looks level...LOL! One thing we do use is X-Choke wheel stabilizers to reduce movement. We also use an aluminum Airstream T-brace for the stairs to provide stability. It's a one piece that fits between your bottom step and the trailer frame. Takes literally 5 seconds to take on and off.
@LongLongHoneymoon9 сағат бұрын
Yes, we have a similar leveling philosophy. The trailer is level when it looks/feels level…our bed is oriented sideways in the trailer so all we are really worried about is making sure that the headboard side of the bed is higher than the foot side. Because it’s no fun sleeping with your feet higher than your head. 🤣

I bought the hitch grip after seeing it on your channel. It can be a little aggravating to get it to go on the ball sometimes, but it has saved lots of shirts from getting greasy spots on them. Overall, I think it’s a good item to have.

Love my Beech Lane levelers, been using them for 4 years now and they have been great. I'm not sure what make yours were. I live the Hitch Grip also! As for the rest of the items, they look like junk.

We absolutely love our curved levelers. It seems your problem is that they say to back onto them, then the pulling forward makes total sense and they don't break that way. We have seen people pull up on them have the sliding issues and not when backing up, for some reason.

What an excellent video! The concerns about National Parks should be moot soon. Both houses of congress passed the "EXPLORE" Act recently which virtually eliminates the video restrictions in National Parks. Biden or Trump should sign it because it appears to be pretty much a clean bill. Hopefully, there will be no hiccups which could delay it's passage into law. P.S. I wholeheartedly agree with your rankings and #1 selection!

Merry Christmas y’all!! Would love a segment on how to winter camp properly (i.e. do we winterize and use bottled water & antifreeze for flushing and washing dishes or can we fill the fresh tank to 80% and use water as normal as long as the furnace is running). We are taking the Airstream up to WV to going skiing and the highs all four days we will be there is going to be in the 20s.

I got to say we don’t have a lot of gadgets we no longer use. From the start we decided only purchased things we need when we had the need for them. I purchased one of those wands that go down the toilet to clean the black tank, but our trailer came with a built in flush and have no need for the wand. Our first tongue jack stand was the cone shaped variety. Although it works, it’s not as sure footed as the block kind that I replaced it with. I replaced the white water hose with a Zero-G flexible hose. I got tired of wrestling with the white hose, especially in the cold weather. I was thinking about getting a hitch grip, but I never take the hitch ball off my tow vehicle and after watching this video, I think it would be something I wouldn't use. I do like the curved levelers. At the time we purchased our trailer only one manufacturer sold them and they were expensive. I saw plans on an RV forum to build them out of wood. These have been working very well for me and at almost no cost since I had wood left over from another project. I tend to stay away from gadgets that run on batteries. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.

Love the Anderson leveler with Level mate and phone app. New design has ridges on the bottom, not smooth. but guess it could still slip on wet asphault but never had them slip or break.

I love these kind of videos. Watched a lot of them before buying my Airstream and liked seeing what people didn’t like and liked about their trailers and the accessories they bought. Helped me not make the same mistakes and figure out if I could live with things they didn’t like about their trailers. Keep them coming, thanks.

We would never consider buying Anderson levelers since the company owner got caught vandalizing one of the National Parks. I can see Kristi rolling her eyes at the ball jokes.
@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
Yes, it's not a good look to be vandalizing national parks. That was a strange "What were you thinking?!" moment. We all make mistakes but that one was memorable. (insert facepalm emoji here!) .... I gave the curved levelers a shot because I have heard so many people who are pleased with them. I think we just got a bad batch.

@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
Here's a video by Andersen recommending that you drive right over the levelers when you are done. Actually I don't think doing so caused damage to the levelers. If you look closely at our video, both seemed to crack initially open the first use. I think we got a bad batch (obviously!). kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGWtgolnaruteMUsi=4gg78LTLKBFVBMiD&t=66

5:30. Afraid to grab the hitch with your hands?
@jonedwards21072 күн бұрын
Lot of fancy gear just to level. I secured a two-way level on the trailer hitch, so my wife stands where I can see her and signals to me to stop. We start by putting the trailer where we want it, immediately know if it isn’t level, place the rocker in front of the low side tire, ease forward until level, I hold the brakes while she places the other block, and we are done. 30 second job.
@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
The bed in our trailer is oriented sideways, so our main priority is to keep the headboard side higher than the foot side. Otherwise we don't get too particular about leveling.

I suppose that using something that is too light of a material for a heavy rig might have a bit to do with it.

We also use the curved Anderson levelers and find them much more accurate and easier to use than the legos. We also use the hitch grip and find that it makes the process of moving the hitch easier and a more safe way to handle the hitch.
@seanyoung71842 күн бұрын
Those are not Andersen levelers. You got counterfeit levelers. The genuine product has holes that go all the way through. The bottoms are not smooth on the genuine product, and the wedges are completely different in design. I have a knock off brand and they have been working well for years on a trailer much heavier than yours.

We went backwards off the curved levels
@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
Backing off seems like a better approach. With that said, I think we just got a bad bunch of levelers. They cracked on the first try, and I think they were doomed to soon break whether we pulled forward or backed off. Pulling forward did seem to expedite the process, however.

I have and really like the Level Mate Pro. Tells me exactly how far off from level I am in inches. I have the wedges and have used them, not ecstatic about them however they have not broken. I do have the Jack wedge from the same company and that works nice. Before I switched over to some of the steps that fold up inside the door I had welded up an extension for my steps as they no where near came close enough to the ground. And on each side I added some stands to stabilize them.

Let me add to your ''Pile o' stuff'' that does not work well....Like my last two tankless water heaters from gerrard..turn shower off to soap up, turn back on and get scalded then frozen..then it starts to moderate...don't use if your boondocking trying to save water...also variation in water presure from park to park really makes them mad! Yes you can adjust flow , but who needs all that hassle. This video was a good Idea! I am sure there is plenty more than this for ''The Pile of Shame''!!

We love our Andersen levelers and all our friends own and love them. The instructions didn’t say to drive off the thick end. It said to pull to release the triangle then back or go forward off the narrow end. The way you went off the tall end makes sense why they broke.
@LongLongHoneymoon8 сағат бұрын
Here's a link to an instructional video by Andersen that specifically advises pulling forward off the levelers (at the tall end). If you look at our video, our levelers cracked the first time they had to bear any weight. I think they were doomed to fail regardless of how we dismounted. With that said, pulling forward did seem to expedite the process. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGWtgolnaruteMU

Not to be argumentative, but before we had auto leveling; our Anderson 'curved levelers" worked great for the last 7 years A lot better than blocks. Never broke one and still use them once in a while. Totally agree On too much useless stuff gets carried around. Our cure; is once a year we pull everything out of the storage holds & cabinets. Unless its an item like a fire extinguisher or tool we need in an emergency; it comes out and not put back in. If we really missed it after a campout or two then we'll put it back.

Have had the Hitch Grip for a couple of years and absolutely love it. The hitch on the Equalizer weighs a ton and saves my back big time. And with the homemade Rock Tamers, it's even heavier. I have the Camco version of the curved levelers and no trouble except when the ground level was really off and didn't have enough lift. Also problems on sand with them just sinking.
