Ha, yes I have not forgotten about this game. One of the few classics that remain on the N64 library that I had not beaten yet. I find the Gauntlet games rather unique in the sense that they feel repetitive and boring but yet addicting to play.. and now that this recording is over, I kinda miss it. Fortunately I still need to re-record the GameCube version sometime so I'll look into that soon. Let me make something clear about this game:: I don't think it's meant to be played as chronological as I play it in this video. The bosses are incredibly difficult and probably best saved for when you're stocked up on items and have better stats. Most importantly, every boss can be attacked with a special weapon to deal great damage right before the fight starts. You can not have this special weapon by the time you face the first boss as it's found in a later area. Since this is a longplay, I like to keep everything tidy and chronological, so I defeated him the hard way. BUT, I've also included bonus clips post-credits to feature the special weapon being used on bosses where I didn't have the special weapon when I first faced them. You can watch them to see what I mean. Anyway, again, this is a longplay so I wanted to keep it all tidy-- but it's in my opinion too difficult to be played the way I do in this video. Casual players are advised to grind monster generators for experience (you can probably just tape down your A button overnight) and farm gold/replenish health before certain stages. Oh, and this version doesn't feature any of the extra stages that the PSX version has. I triple checked. Another odd thing is how the secret stages only require you to collect 50 coins in this version whereas the PSX version requires all coins to be collected which is rather difficult

Best home port of the game at the time due to the extra horse power of the N64.

I played this FAR too much back in the day. I went so far as to unlock everything, including the secret characters. Honestly after the first one I just wanted to see what new weirdness they made. Goofy looking things but had double the stats. If you ever manage it folks, this game is great for a couch co-op with friends.

Well if you have a decent PC you can try dolphin GC emulator and go that route or spend millions for a physical copy lol maybe Nintendo will port it over when they drop GameCube games on the switch eventually @@marcusricks7366

I remember playing the Dreamcast version, and when I got the PS2 that inspired me to get the upcoming "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" since I'd also played it in the arcades too then.

The game which Dark Legacy was built upon....and some of the stages later shown was made for the new Dwarf, Knight, Sorceress, and Jester for its sequel. (The PS1 Extra Stages made that possible, though. Strangely, the Desert and Forest areas, which are the homelands of the Wizard and Archer, aren't featured here)
