Longplay of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

I've decided to work through all the NFS games on the GameCube through chronological order so I start off with this one as it's the earliest release and it sure plays like it.. This is also VERY different from the Underground release which is the only one I'm familiar with. There's no car tuning, there's no nitro and there's no story mode. The game basically consists of two modes, Hot Pursuit and Championship. The former is the WORST because it features cop cars and helicopters. You'll basically hear police sirens nonstop (I had to mute audio on my TV) and they'll do whatever it takes to sabotage YOU. Even if you're last place, it's almost like they don't care about the other cars but just decide to crash their police cars into you. Worst of all is the length of these challenges (roughly over 10 minutes on average).. it's easy for a cop car to crash into you last minute which is almost random and force you to restart the entire race because a small mess up like that can put you in last position. The early challenges are quite forgiving, but later on it seems like you're forced to drive perfectly, don't hit any cop cars and do so for 10+ minutes straight. It also doesn't help how there's barely any stage variety and you're just replaying the same stages over and over and over again. Doing nothing but driving through these stages for four days straight to record this longplay felt like a living nightmare honestly. As for the second mode, the Championship, you won't be bothered by police cars fortunately but you'll have to deal with even higher CPU difficulty. I actually didn't manage to gold rank each stage, but like 95% of them. Not that it really matters though, because gold ranking doesn't do anything but give you more points to purchase new cars. In this longplay I show off all challenges for both modes. Gold rank is acquired on 95% of the challenges, but not all. There's even two challenges where I didn't get a medal at all, but the challenge is played nonetheless. I don't think there's much worth viewing here, as it's just 12 hours of the same stages repeated under different conditions. Lastly, in regard to the timecodes, A-G is the vertical line and 1-8 is the horizontal line in which A is the basically the first mission (at the top) and G is one of the final two missions (at the bottom). With that being said, most of A, B and C is fun and not too difficult, whereas D and E gets tough and F onward gets really challenging.

Thanks for doing this game, but, in my opinion, this one by far is my favorite Need For Speed of all time. Other games don't get quite as close as maniac as this one. The PS2 in my opinion is a much better version compared to the Xbox and Gamecube in my opinion, and it looks nicer as well. The quotes and tracks on this game are timeless, favorite of all the NFS games. It's too bad Underground didn't feel the same as when I played NFS:HP2 in my opinion.

I used to play this game a lot on the Gamecube. I loved it! The sportscars, the amazing tracks, the police chasing you, the possibility to play as a police yourself, and a cool soundtrack. All these put together in to one game.

Man the Mercedes CLK-GTR knockout race brings back some sick nostalgia. I couldn't finish that race as a kid lol! That car was too easy to crash. Thanks for uploading this, dude!

Oh i remember that GameCube version is different from the PS2 version, the gameplay was also different including the physics and the AI is so annoying with rubberbanding and the chopper with OP missiles is somewhat a bad dream in both versions.

@@longplayarchive Well Championship mode isn't too bad on the PS2 version but the Ultimate Racing is tough because i realized how OP the missiles from the chopper are and the cops are getting more aggressive.
