Thomas, the mirage is something we have to deal quite often down here, it can be quite annoying, at longer distances the black part or the centre of the target dances quite the same distance as one full diameter, so you don't even know where it is. I have seen some recipes but it is quite hard, sometimes the wind spins around it so, its direction changes too fast, and being so very hard to predict anything. Anyway, nice video as usual.

It certainly makes proper aiming difficult and directly affects precision shooting. It would be interesting to learn from BR shooters who shoot in warm climates how they deal with this problem.

I see well how the data review, load development and focused training are having positive effect and determining the next phases... How is inner training incorporated? E.g breathing, visualization, dry firing, "seeing" the hit? Best FC

That part is what I am really struggling to figure out how to show on film. Breathing, visualization and timing is honed on the when all the big/ crude problems are removed. Dry firing I don't do due time constraint, but it is a very good practice and should be done.

Thomas, you have to try monopod, you might be surprised, good videos.
@THLR

I have tried them and didn't like them, they kept digging into the ground and causing irregularities.

It happens, yes. I use a 12 cm diameter and 5cm thick sandbag under the monopod. It works perfectly. Perhaps it's worth trying out in a shooter error test. I mean, with a rear bag versus monopod with sandbag, just that idea has come when watching your shooter error test videos.

Hi mate, another great video! May I ask what bipod that is? I'd like something similar for my 7mm Rem Mag long range hunting rig. Thanks!

Thanks. That is from Rifle Precision Systems, RPS, here in Norway. Also have a look at Elite Iron, it is also supposed to be very good.

Hi Thomas, those sand colored gloves made from leather and wool (?) you are wringing out at each final trailer...who is the producer and where did you get them? God blog by the way - compliments! :-)

Thanks, it is these gloves granqvists.se/product/m1009/. Superior to the Mechanix I tried last year. Will try Kuiu this year, but I suspect I'm back to Granqvist next year.

I basically tried the Mechanix because they were half the price of the Granqvist, but this was an inferior glove. I bought the Kuiu gloves hoping these would be a stronger glove but offering the same properties of the Granqvist, but I was wrong - I see no benefit in the Guide or Attack glove ove the Granqvist. The Granqvist is very easy to use with wool mittens and shell mittens and this makes it very flexible. I have been using a neoprene Glacier Glove for fishermen lately, and in the wet/snowy windy condition we have right now they have been super. You get a little clammy on the hands, but its warm/damp and not cold/wet like With other gloves.

Hi Thomas, I was trying different gloves. Best version were some from Northface with leather and gore tex. Still not able to shoot with them. Just yesterday I stumbled over a pair of those: www.peak-muenster.de/index.php?cl=details&cnid=224&anid=29934&listtype=list&& (Hestra Ergo Grip 5 black) - even if they look far to big those might be perfect for shooting. But I ll try the Granqvist if i figure out who is importing them...thx!

Are you turning the necks of your cases to ensure better uniformity of your velocities? Or which measurements do you feel gives you the best stable velocity?
@THLR

Niels Lauritsen No, this is standard Norma cases and standard Forster FL reloading dies. I do no caseprep other than cleaning. My reloading routine is described in the Sierra link (film description)

What you can do now better with 300 Norma mag, what you can't do with 6,5x55 or 6,5-284 ?

THLR.NO You need more energy to kill animals ? Because the metal plate does not make a difference when you hit it
@THLR
@THLR 7 жыл бұрын
No. A bullet with a bigger mass delivers more energy and creates a more visible signature than lesser calibres. I am finding the 300 NM quite easy to shoot at 1200-1500 meters whereas I am struggling at 1100 m with my 6,5mm.

Definitely was in a hurry to run the bolt on that last shot. Better think to yourself "one thousand one" (full second) till you come off the trigger.
@THLR
@THLR 7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. Trying to skip the follow-through will get you nowhere and for me this can become a problem when I'm too overconfident. It is simply not possible to skip the corners on the fundamentals.
@DFOOSKING

THLR.NO was actually one of the things I was taught to do at class. I wasn't having grouping issues... slowing down and performing follow through helped me spot my own impacts. Especially from 100-300yds. It's the little things that can make big differences.

I think i already asked you but, how many rounds do you shoot per year ? And how many rounds are good base to be a good shooter (meaning, shooting 308 to a chest sized target out to a kilometer) ?
@THLR
@THLR 7 жыл бұрын
This year it took me 170 shots to reach an acceptable level. I am not shooting much this year, so I think I'll clock in at about 1200-1400 shots. It is rare that I shoot over 2000. Once hunting season starts, I basically don't shoot targets until I'm finished with hunting.

Thomas this is in reply to your comment above re hunting season. Can you explain your seasonal hunting plan generally? How many hunts for example and where? How much time per year do you actually spend taking hunting trips? I recall that you travel some long distances to get to your hunting destinations e.g. Scotland and I'm just wondering how much hunting you do. Thanks, another great vid!
