Im friends with the Coco family and I can tell you, they are 1st class. Good, honest, hard working family that builds great products that they stand behind. That 23hp Longtail ou have is a work horse. Go anywhere, do anything type of set up. Especially with a light boat like you have in the video.

I used to have an 8hp GoDevil on a pirogue in Louisiana. I got caught on low tide leaving my blind. It pushed me across mud flats with no water showing. Unbelievable! Got me home!

Thank you for mentioning the real speed. I get so tired of everyone exaggerating their top speed. It's not meant to go fast, like you said, it's meant to get you there and back.
@jacobgalatas44272 жыл бұрын
My family has exclusively run go-devil’s for 20+ years and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that they are the best longtails ever. That 23 hp is bulletproof. They run even better with a skinny boat too
@Saltfly5 ай бұрын
So went way slower than you thought, and got it stuck in pretty standard mud. I admire your truthfulness

I’ve owned both and currently run a Gatortail. The long tail is the best for bump and grind in cypress swamps. Wish I had a long tail rig in addition to my GTR.

Some mornings I have a 25 mile boat ride to the duck hole. Running 30-31mph on my 40hp GTR. Never going back to a longtail.
@DuckGunChronicles2 жыл бұрын
Haha ya I agree with that
@CC-pi6gm26 күн бұрын
Do you think a longtail is better for going at slower speeds in shallow waters?
@SomewhereInWisconsin2 жыл бұрын
I've got both. A 35 GTR on my 1754 Gatortail and a 13hp Go Devil Longtail on a 1440. I'll take the big boat in almost all circumstances. The only thing I get nervous about in the big boat is getting it stuck. I like the small boat for small rivers, although it hits every single log in the river while driving. Ha.

Nice it’s good to have boat options

Had multiple backwaters over the years in my opinion they are the best long tail on the market. I hunt the Mississippi River and made the switch to a 40 hdr mud buddy last year. I love it. The only issue I have with it is I don’t have the leverage like I did with the long tail. I definitely hit allot less things with the surface drive.
@DuckGunChronicles2 жыл бұрын
That’s for sure! I bet the Mississippi is awesome. I’m head there on the Iowa boarder this year

I too own longtail godevil I will not say it bulletproof I will say it as close to bulletproof as it gets Everything that is depended upon needs maintenance When the bushings wear it a good thing to buy replacements and change them At the same time measure the shaft and if out of spec change it too Keep the maintenance up and in my opinion You as close to bulletproof as it gets

Thanx for the video. I’ve enjoyed watching you guys smash geese and ducks. Trying to decide on a small mud motor for my four rivers EBAD. I thought I had my mind made up on a ppf long tail until mud skipper came out with a clutch on their small long tails. Mud skipper also has a small surface without a clutch drive that looks awesome. 🧐🧐
@tyronehoustonson29442 жыл бұрын
Get the ppf man, a lot more reliable than the mud skipper and the ppf frame is made in America.

Ask for permission first. Not that you have to with the Michigan laws. You can still access the water for boating, kayaking, sight seeing, fishing (as long as you don't anchor to the bottom), etc. You just can't "hunt" the water without permission. Now I say ask for permission first because it's good to lock down that spot. If you can't lock down the spot, then you're waisting your time scouting. If you scout first, and then think "well there's no ducks here, I'll skip on asking permission for this property", then you've done yourself a disservice for later on during the migration. What doesn't have ducks in August/ September, might be loaded in November.

I went with a surface drive. To many trees here. Very few open water spots like you have.

I like my 27hp Go-devil Long Tail better it`s on a 16ft. I also have a 23hp. Copper Head Surface on a 14 ft. The long Tail gets me through bad stuff better than the Surface Drive but the Surface is better for long runs.
