I'm a curator and this historical work makes me so giddy and excited like a little school girl! I love delving in to different layers of conservation and following best practices to preserve things for as long as possible.

It would be wonderful if a video could be produced showing what these painting might have looked like when completed. I remember watching on television how they recreated the original appearance of the tapestries at Hampton Court, and that was startling.

I live near Peterborough but only, discovered it a while ago. It is so exciting to see the paintings so close. They are awe inspiring. It's a lovely place and so interesting to see how they conserve them.

People usually think of castles as being purelly military structures, purelly functional, but they have that artistic part too

It's not a castle. It was part of a residence.

@@rebekahfowler2958 isn't a castle a fortified residence? Isn't this residence fortified?

Miguel Luis . I don't think it was fortified, but I could be wrong. It was an added addition to a residence. Maybe it was like a folly. Maybe they were saying look how rich we are. The man was a sheriff of Northampton and Peterborough, I think. He could have held meeting in it The place was definitely meant to be seen from the inside.

@@rebekahfowler2958 according to Wikipedia the tower was an addition to a fortified manor house. And if you think about it, it only makes sense for a medieval wealthy person to fortify their house. Non fortified palaces began to appear only in the late 1500s.

Glad it wasnt destroyed in the turbulance of the 1500's. So much history lost in this country by Wars, town planners etc. When visit the Heritage sites it would be nice to see towers, castles, monastery's in better condition
