I don't have any experiences like Virginia's. I think it depends on climate and how that affects the plants growth. Putting it on chain link is a good idea. Any vining plant brings up the question of control. I would make sure you don't have trees or shrubs that it can tendril around and get into. I see other videos on this being a pest. It obviously performs differently in other areas than mine. I recommend you check those also and make a more informed decision. This is the nature of plants, they don't perform the same everywhere. Good luck. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.

Stop encouraging people to use this in any way. You are harming any forest edge. You might have a suburban fence you can control and looks nice but out here were we are trying to grow productive things on acres. This is a demon vine that will only work to kill that.

Hello, I want to plant Honeysuckle Japonica in a large pot and then train it up a permanent arch. I expect that eventually it will become heavily root bound in the pot. What do I do then? Will I have to just sacrifice the whole plant and then start over with a new pot? I fear that if I put it into the ground the roots will be wildly invasive spreading out horizontally and then, of course upward. Please advise. Thank you.

Please don't. Japanese honeysuckle is an awful invasive plant. Burn it.

Hi Jeff, I just found your channel and have been slowly going through some of your older videos. Have learned a lot and hope that you'll continue with the series. Do you accept questions/provide suggestions about specific problems?? Located in eastern N.C., I am struggling with a major problem wrt my front lawn and mature pines in the landscape. Best regards, Dr. Chip Satterly

Hi Jeff, Just subscribed and started looking around when I came across this. I have a small section of chain link fence I want to cover and was considering this honeysuckle, Then I notice Virginia's response and became concerned. Why does she say it is destructive? Thanks for the great video's and sharing your knowledge, Phil

Extremely irresponsible to plant this on purpose in the US. Once you have it, you will never get rid of it, and it will absolutely kill anything it is near by overgrowing it and suffocating it. It has caused significant damage to woodland ecosystems in the Midwest. On a personal note, I have spent two years battling an infestation in my backyard. Pulling it up is back breaking, and it grows back FAST. Awful, awful stuff.
