That arch is so beautiful, and I love where you placed it. The side yard is going to feel like an entrance to a secret garden. 😊

Ya know watching you put that together, gave me the idea, maybe you've already thought of it. You should make a directions sheet on how to make your tuteur, I'm sure once the gardeners hear you made it, they be interested. Your skill set, I bet you could make a frame with a diamond pattern, painted with your black stain to put in front of the AC. I do a lot of tours, and seeing an AC unit doesn't bother me, I understand in this case why it does you, but it's at the beginning of the tour, they'll have forgotten all about that thing when they turn the corner 😊
@tinamcnamara51672 жыл бұрын
I think the black diamond shaped lattice "fence" around your AC unit would be great. The lattice design is airy so there will be airflow around it. If you plant up those three pots next to the AC unit it should help conceal the unit.

I love that you’re going to be in the garden tour. Your house and yard is a “real” house and yard. The air conditioner is part of that. We all have one. I think it’s good to see how we all can have a beautiful garden with the needed appliances. The arch is great!!

Love the arch! It totally changed the look of the side yard. My Dad worked for a AC plant for over 30 year and when he hears someone wants to cover their out side unit he always says use lattice screen that is not fasten down. The more airflow you block the less efficient your unit works because the compressor is in the outside unit. The repair person needs at least 3 feet clearance for repairs. They usually have to remove the side panels to work on the unit.if you do decide to plant anything closer just be prepared that if your unit needs repairs it might get trampled. I would suggest pots around the AC.have a wonderful weekend.

The garden arch looks great for the honeysuckle. GOOD idea. I have a honeysuckle at my gate to my back yard but would need a wider arch. Real cute the laughing chick, believe it was chuckling with you. GREAT video. Happy Gardening. Rebekah in NC.

Hi, can I suggest something for the air conditioning unit… plant something a yard or more away from it and then put up a willow braided red brown-ish fence, one of those that you can curl up and move. Put that up behind the planted area and in front of the AC unit.. that way you have something to shield it for when people come to visit the garden, but then you can easily take it away if you choose too after the event.. that way you dont plant something that could effect the unit or mess it up.. I hope my description make sense since English isn’t my language so I hope you get it 😊 its so exciting that you are going to showcase your garden 🤗☺️ bye bye from Denmark 🇩🇰

Janey you should create a tripod lattice screen to surround your air unit and paint it black. Easy to move when needed and it will go with you espalier diamond theme. The hydragea and gardenia your neighbor gifted you will be pretty planted passed the arch in front of the ac unit on the left and give some demention to your path ada mysteryofsurprise to whats around the corner. Hi Janey, The arch is a great idea for the entry. You could also make a temporary box they fits over the air conditioner unit. Stain it the same color as the fence and place a tri of potted plants on top maybe put a lantern there. Just for the event. Anyway, its looking good.

Arch looks beautiful but I don't think the visitors will even think twice about it being there. I would just use that money to do a flower or plant presentation instead. I already love the arch and that will be the first thing they will focus on. Your backyard is already so pleasant to be in, and I know you will make it absolutely delightful to present. Our daughter showed her yard and gardens this summer on an East side garden walk in Milwaukee and she had about 200 people come through. She did such a nice job showing her designs. I loved listening to her describe what everything was and I hope she does it again next year. Then she can make some pretty labels for the plants so everyone knows what they are. The tour lasted 4 hours and she loves to chat but she said she was exhausted at the end of the event 😀 I think there were 17 homes on the tour

I think you can cover the a/c for the day with a stained lattice “box”. Plop it over the unit during the tour and then take it off when it’s done. That way you won’t impact the a/c unit’s efficiency but you get the coverage for the tour. Love Kinsmen products. They’re fantastic.

Janey this looks great! And this narrow side yard is where it all started!! The roots of your channel 💚 I love the arch! I have to opposite situation, I have too much open space in my yard which makes it difficult and a bit overwhelming to decide where to place things so the garden feels cohesive. To me it almost seems easier to work with a smaller space. I think the arbor is a beautiful touch! I imagine you'll find a way to make that area even more garden-esque in no time. I say a screen that can be moved is probably your best bet with the A.C. this way you can conceal it when you want and leave it open otherwise. Great curtsey Jason!! Is that a full sun or part shade area? Do you plan on doing any more planting along the sides? Love the style of the arbor! Mimics your other garden lines perfectly 👌

Hi, Janey: To cover your garbage cans and a/c unit, I would suggest using the same materials so it looks coordinated. In fact, I would create small picket fence structures, like your privacy fence, and paint them black, so they all blend in. You could put hinges on the inside that easily lock together, so it's easy to access the garbage cans when you have to move them on trash day. For the a/c unit, it could be something temporary just for the garden tour, so you can remove it after the event. Or you may wish to leave just the front of the fence on the a/c unit, so it is blocked from view from the street and the sides and back of the a/c unit are open for maximum circulation. Hope this helps!! Whatever you do, it will be great!! Can't wait to see!!😀😀

Loved this and Jason’s curtsy was hilarious! Also they have lattice air conditioner screens. I think it’s needs to be the open lattice not double lattice for air flow but diamond pattern would mimic your favored designs 🥰 and it does a good job minimizing view of AC box.
@greenthumbelina73312 жыл бұрын
Janey, Jason's curtsey just cracked me up! You guys really should talk to your neighbor soon about painting their side of your shared fence, then you could use a paint sprayer to paint the more difficult parts of the fence (and for future touchups), it would be so much easier, and you wouldn't have to worry about getting paint on the other side. Your arch looks wonderful in that area, and it serves as the perfect entrance to your backyard! At the 12:37 time stamp, it looks like you might have room (on the fence side) to place your garbage cans with a short enclosure to hide them from sight, painted to match your fence. I don't know if there is enough room for the garbage cans there, but if there is you could set a couple of blooming potted plants on the top just for the garden tour, instead of moving them into your garage. I know you weren't asking for suggestions, but sometimes I give input when none is needed, lol! ~Margie🤗💐🐝🦋

Hi, need advice with a honeysuckle plant I purchased. I planted mine in a large container with an obelisk for support. It probably will stay more contained or will be pruned to be more bushy rather than long trailing vines as I do not have the space or support for that. The plant is tied to a center wooden stick from the nursery about 3 ft tall. Should I leave that intact or am I supposed to cut the ties securing the vines to that wooden stick?
