This problem with Lonzo's shot is not his form. Does he have the prettiest form? No. But he's been a fairly decent shooter his whole life. The issue is in his head. He's lost all confidence in his shot and he's shooting timidly.
@ronaldwilliams9635
@ronaldwilliams9635 7 жыл бұрын

Whether Highschool, AAU, College, NBA. A wide open shot is a wide open shot. He's missing everything now from a disproportionate rate than ever. Hitting contested shots in the NBA is significantly more difficult, of course. That doesn't explain wide open airballs and bad misses. That's a mental thing.
@AccurateShooter
@AccurateShooter 7 жыл бұрын
Yes the form is bad. First and foremost the ball is held by his left ear so it isnt even directly in his line of vision. The ball is slung left to right -- you can see this on his free throws. He also releases low and the trajectory is too flat. ALL of this should have been fixed in HIgh School. As an NBA point guard he should be shooting 80% plus from the free-throw line. In four weeks you could train a high school girl to shoot 70% plus from the free-throw line. The fact that he is not corrected his free-throw shooting indicates to me that he is out of touch with reality, and does not have the personal fortitude to do what it takes.
@jberczi6
@jberczi6 7 жыл бұрын
You're right. He's never going to be a good shooter at the NBA level, but playing in his top form, he's much better than he's been performing this year. He needs to up his effort level and defense intensity to keep a spot in this league though.

Lonzo was overrated & overhyped by the media from the beginning. Instead of 'waiting' to see how he'd play in the NBA the media instead claimed he was the next superstar before he even stepped on he court. College basketball is not the same as the NBA. It doesn't matter how Ball shot in college, the overall increase in both height and quickness in the NBA means defenders get to you more quickly than they did in the NCAA. Consequently, it is super important that players have a quick release. Ball's slow shooting form at the NBA level means he has to rush shots, causing him to shoot poorly and lose his confidence.

It should be consensus that his abysmal shooting is a giant concern. So what if hr gets 7 rebounds per game? Hes a point guard. Point guard rebounding has never been an important stat until last year because it was westbrook's only claim for mvp. He gets most of his assists from outlet passing. He cant playmake in the half court, etc. If you cant score at the pg spot, something needs to be changed.

Lonzo isn't playing bad, everybody just has higher expectations from him. There was so much talk about him, with his brother already in the NBA, they were already looking at him for a while and his high school & collage game was better then his brother's. With all that behind him people expected more out of him and he just ain't living up to all that hype. But he's not doing bad at all, especially for a rookie. The same thing is already happening with their younger brother LaMelo, he's not out of high school yet and is getting even more attention. All this attention get them feeling on top of the world, and their confidence just takes off. In an environment which they have gotten used to, and are comfortable in, that confidence boost could take them to newer heights. As you can see, LaMelo has had such a confidence boost he end up hitting 92 points in one of his resent high school games. The hype he's getting now is off the charts. All anyone is going to be thinking is "not even Michael Jordan nor Koby Bryant accomplished that in their high school years, and they turned out among the greatest of all time. What will this kid's future hold in store" All the hype is only going to leave people disappointed if his stats don't compare to the greatest.

You know who you have solely to blame for people ridiculing Lonzo's game????? His dad. Lavar set the bar too high, and Lonzo's performance, which for most rookies would be passable, is just not living up to Lavar's hype. Lonzo never once said he was gonna be the next greatest player in the NBA, its all his dad.

Koby managed to change his shot. He never used to kick his right leg out when he shot early in his career. He also switched from the ball rolling off his middle finger to his index finger

People really comparing him to Rondo obviously don’t know that Rondo could get to the rim and finish at will. He had handles and made defenses collapse freeing up his teammates. He also was great at passing so don’t compare Lonzo to Rondo cause don’t make sense. Rondo couldn’t shoot and HE DIDNT HAVE TOO LOL. Like he still in the league cause his game adapts too wherever he goes.

I’m no professional, but I’ve adjusted my shot several times applying proper shooting mechanics and my shot has only always improved. Lonzo must change his shot, that form is terrible.

Rodman was an athletic freak and could actually score inside. With the increase in pace, peak Rodman would be averaging 25 rebounds per game in modern NBA.

5:17 I don't think they have an illegal defense rule in the NBA anymore CC. Just defensive 3 seconds in the paint.

Florida Fish Guy not too many other point guards have an offensive play that sets up an alley oop jam. Not too many others can chase down block Kyrie Irving. (One of the best finishers in the league.) Everyone needs to start actually watching the game and stop listening to people who clearly do not know the game. Ball has shown more athleticism and leadership than D-Lo already. Shooting is definitely a problem, but I also remember a rookie Kobe Bryant that average under 8 points a game.

Illegal defense isn't a thing so long as nobody spends three seconds in the paint without actively guarding someone. Teams could leave Lonzo wide open all game if they wanted to, but they wouldn't do that because he can score when he's wide open and as a defense you wouldn't want him to be shooting with confidence.

Why not just change the name of this show to the "LONZO BALL HATER SHOW." Every day you're pimping Lonzo Ball. Yes, Lonzo has perhaps the lowest shooting percentage in the league, but the Lakers are currently in the 8th playoff spot despite starting two rookies and a 2nd year player who is only 20 years old. Lonzo is a big part of that turnaround. Stop focusing on what he is not doing well, and give credit to how he has helped to change the Laker culture from a team who accepted losing and played ZERO defense to a team that tries to win every night and is one of the top-ranked defenses in the NBA!

Warren Pricefield yes his shot needs work, but he’s leading the team in assists and rebounds per game with 7. He has two triple doubles(almost three) and we’re 8th in the West. Just imagine how good he’s going to be when his shot starts to fall more...

Lakers were 10-10 last year after 20 games look how they ended up lakers right now are 8-10 if they dont win their next two games they are on pace to be worse than last year and thats without injuries now imagine if kuzma, clarkson, ingram, randle or caldwell pope get injured then the lakers are really in trouble.
