Ahhh! The trek has happened once again! Everyone seemed to stick to the path very closely. Is there a substantial drop off or is it a matter of the tide being so low the path was clear and therefore no one deviated from it? Great video!! Thanks for going to the additional trouble!

There are a couple of set routes, but the follow-the-leader always happens. Always lots of weed and rocks - no deep sections. lol, if there was it would add some cool drama to the situation! I will kayak next time, should be easier to film too.

Always wanted to do this walk over to the island ... do have to stay on the beach once you get there or can you walk around the island ? ... great footage , really enjoyed it

Thanks, it was good fun. You have about 10 minutes on the beach but you're not allowed any further. There are organised trips available. You can write your name down in the book where the boat trips leave from, opposite the amusement arcade. Saturday 27th May is the next walk. Low tide is 2pm, so you would need to start walking about 1:30.

+RG5355 Saturday April 9th will be the next really low tide at 1:50pm crossing time (knee deep). After that you have to wait for August and September (waist deep but nice and warm). * Be sure to leave the island no later than 10-20 minutes after the tide turns. It can come in pretty fast.

+RG5355 yeah.... I've seen it 30 or so metres beyond The Banjo once....last year got pics of it 5 metres beyond the Banjo....

In september with my husband we return a little too late. At the deeper place the water came up to my waist and over the top of my waders.

+ALINE40 The water was very warm though, fun day. Try again in March, the water should be ankle deep then - but very cold!

I have no idea there used to be a causeway. Definitely nothing left of it now. Will have to do some research on that.
