My STFT is behaving as expected when idling in closed loop, by hunting around 0.0%, plus or minus 3%. However the LTFT is stuck on -10.2% A quick blip of the throttle at it changes to -9.4% RPM flucturating 796 to 803 rpm MAP fluctuates around 25kPa 02s1 fluctuates around 0.00mA. plus 0 to minus 0.07mA 02s2 fluctates 0.57V to 0.63V If go from idle to holding the throttle at 2000rpm or 3000rpm. The STFT behaves as expected. But the LTFT is still in minus figures but closer to 0% higher the rpm

awesome! I got a high negative LTFT hitting -9% on both banks especially on idle and feel like some under power, LTFT returns close to zero when revving up engine. I check the fuel rail pressure, it's within normal range (DI engine). no blocked PCV. No missing fire detected on scanner. I'm completely lost. side note: when I unplug the IAT sensor, seems engine runs better with happier throttle response and more power.

How does this get my 89 s10 pickup with a manual transmission running right? I have replaced everything but the tps and map sensor. I live near Harrisburg Pa and I the morning I can drive for about 15 minutes and the engine runs great for a truck that's 30 years old. Then like a switch was flipped the engine starts to run like crap. When I put the clutch in the engine tries to die and some times it does. The engine shakes violently and I almost didn't make it home today. When it does this why can't the driver give the ecm an error and tell it to run. Don't understand how the ecm can't tell the engine is shaking and do something to correct the issue? U unplugged the o2 sensor hoping to keep it in open loop. But 15 minutes later engine is running like crap. I firmly believe that when a engineer retires they are NOT done working they get to work in repairing the garbage they designed. I thought I would learn something here but I have no clue what you are talking about. This is why I don't do this professionally any more. Stupid engineers messing stuff up designing dumb crap.

Very interesting video! Have a question. On my 10 year old vehicle at idle, STFT is around +6% and LTFT is shown at +3%(lower at times). When I increase RPM, I notice that STFT drops a bit to maybe +3 or less. While driving LTFT may go to +2 or less. I have checked hoses around the engine and cleaned MAF and looked at throttle body and all is clean and hoses attached properly and in very good shape. Housing of the PCV valve looks clean. I also do have bank 2 data which I haven't looked at yet. I don't think I need to bother with anything, but out of curiosity what would you suggest?

You mentioned that -10% to +10 STFT is normal. Does the same rule of thumb apply for the LTFT?
@realfixesrealfast4 жыл бұрын
Yes, however the PCM does not read LTFDT as a stand alone input. Instead it reads them as a combined input. So, if STFT is at 10% and LTFT is at 5% the total would be 15% and that will seta code

More info is needed to make any assessment. Are those numbers at idle, and how do they respond above idle, at wide open throttlele, etc. ? How do they respond when you add extra air and/or extra fuel. Those are the things you need to be checking because anything less would just be a guess

both SFTF & LTFT are computer "responses" not "controls" , so no there is no reset for them. It would take some accurate hands on evaluation of them to determine the issue.

@@realfixesrealfast would it be correct to says that when every thing are working correctly the car's exhaust would be having slightly excess O2 of 2% vs 21% of O2 in the air. Yes, no?. Y I bought a 2006 Mercedes and put in plug & dashboard display OBD2. While driving O2 sensor reading fluctuates between 0.65 to 0.8V. This short profile of V swinging value, I understood, is only for cars made before 2007 which uses different soft ware for O2 sensor self check. It does only drop to 0.1V briefly when braking to stop. Left on cruise mode the short fuel trim value changes slightly and does not swing about too much. Long fuel trim value hardly moves and would be moved by 2% or less. Thank you and have a nice day.

@jkbrown54966 жыл бұрын
You don't mess with the programming. If LTFT is adding or removing fuel, it means there is a persistent condition. You then look at what is causing the condition. Such as if LTFT is adding fuel, you look for unmetered air getting in or the amount of actual fuel being injected is not as much as the computer believes is being added based on injector on-time and fuel system pressure.
