Look At This: Hawthorne Airport

In this episode of Look At This!, Desmond Shaw flies us to Hawthorne Airport. It started out as a single strip of dirt in the 1930s but quickly became a busy airport. However, when flights started to decline it was almost turned into a football stadium.

One of the most interesting airports I've flown to. The approach lighting system is literally in a Walmart parking lot and it feels like you are landing in a city!

That's also down the street from me and I still miss the airshows here. The last airshow I can remember attending was back in 1989.....
