The best triathlon wetsuit for poor swimmers needs to have the following features: more buoyancy in the triathletes legs, stabilization in the core area of the wetsuit, the ability for the triathlete to feel the swim catch at the front of the stroke, and buoyancy areas to encourage the triathlete to rotate his or her body side to side while swimming during a triathlon. Been dealing with recurring Posterior Tibial Tendinitis over the last few month. Had to cancel all my planned races for the rest of the year. Got new custom orthotics and 3/6weeks with no running. Want to go run so badly at the moment. My poor wife is dealing with a real Grumpysaurus at the moment.

Gua sha comb. Cheap and works pretty well on me with small issues. + up/down on your toes while working on a stand up desk

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your videos they help me so much. I went to a podiatrist and a lot of foot,back,hip and knee problems can be solved by getting specialized orthotics made. They really do help. Find a good podiatrist. Good luck.

A couple of things I use to help with foot issues, one is getting a pedicure, I find getting my nails professionally done along with the foot massage goes a long way for good food health. Also, I have the same sort of issue you have when I ramp up milage, so I have tried also rubbing the area and the nerves seem to connect to outer toes. So when in the hot tub with jets I make sure I get the jets on the bottom of feet to help reduce that pain. That helps too especially right after a run.

For plantar I love ice baths, a lacrosse ball, inserts for casual shoes, and KT tape for when I run.

Thanks for a good video! Just one thing that I don't really understand. You say you want thicker neoprene on the legs compared to the chest. On TYRs webpage you can find that the Cat5 suit has 4mm in chest and 4 mm in the legs, which is the same thickness? An Orca S7/Sonar, on the other hand, has 3mm in the chest and 4-4,5 mm in the legs, 3mm in the feet/calves area. So maybe these latter provide better buoyancy than the Cat5?

Plantar fasciitis, still leading with that, but manageable. Pain on the top of the foot to the side. Had to stop and do some, not very enjoyable, fisiotherapy.

Taren, I ramped up my training to two workouts a day for some days of the week, except for swimming days because I swim in the evening. My left Achille’s tendon started to bother me (I believe it’s peritendinitis?) and I took a week off from biking and running. Ran a 2k warm-up yesterday before a strength session, now the pain is back. It’s not as bad as before, but it’s back. I guess I’ll be swimming only for the next week as well. I used ice, massaging with gels and stretching. Any other suggestions? Maybe another week or two off and focus only on swimming? Swimming doesn’t affect it at all, I would say.

hey Taren, I think that I'm having a periostitis problem on my right leg. I've been resting for 3 weeks now but I don't feel like any improvement for now. still feel some little pain. don't know what to do...

Please give us an idea of the mm thickness of the top for less buoyancy and the thickness from the waist down to assist in more buoyancy for the legs, my legs sink

I "foam roll" my feet with a golf ball or by standing on a stiff garden hose. Also, focus on your "chi running" technique. I like a line from the book, "Born to Run." When running, think easy, light, and smooth (in that order); and you'll be fast.

don't laugh but... get a noodle(from the pool) and stand on it in bare feet. stand right on the arch keep your heals and toes up off the floor. I will walk sideways on it(step together) side to side the length of the noodle about 3/5x. It not only feels wonderful but it will give you relief. Use a noodle that is firm. sometimes after a pool workout I will take the noodle to the therapy pool that is warm and will do this exercise.Let me know what you think.

Hey Taren, I will make my first 70.3 triathlon in June 2019, Switzerland. Water temperature usually is about 18-19 Celsius degree in June. I am looking for some budget options for wetsuits. What do you think of NABAIJI OWS 500? They are claiming that it has a pretty decent bouyancy. Any other suggestions? Would appriciate your opinion! And thank you for your videos. I honestly don't know anything about that wetsuit at all, but if it's your first tri, then any wetsuit will do. you need to know if you even like the sport before spending big money. So get what you can afford and upgrade later!

Hay Taren. Have you had or know of anyone with experience with custom shoe orthotics. I used to wear them and found they did help with little niggles all over. (Iv since lost my pair👎🏻) I'd be interested to hear if you think foot exercises can be as good or not!? Custom orthotics retail at around 300-400 bucks 😌. Thanks

What if you swim like you are a lead weight. Biking and running not an issue, really cannot swim for distance.

Yes, but they're not meant to be used frequently -- they're a cheat, in a way. Good for working on technique but not good for buildling endurance or strength in the pool, which you also need.

Speaking from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, there is only one thing we put ice on...a dead body. Ice is great if you want to numb something, i.e., great pain relief, but counterproductive to healing. You need blood flow for healing, especially in situations involving tendons/ligaments, and ice is antithetical to that. In terms of foot pain, I have had some success with healing "plantar fasciitis" type pain with a topical herbal concoction. If you are interested hit me up and I will pass along the info to you.

Icing aids in blood flow by causing blood to leave when applied, then the blood comes back afterwards. That's why when icing, it's recommended to have it on for 10-15 minutes, off for 10-15 minutes, then on for 10-15 minutes.

"Lost" over 4 minutes in the 1km swim compared to my competitors.., my swimming was 1 minute faster without wetsuit compared to now with wetsuit in the last race (last sunday).... Try and make up for those 4 minutes in the rest of the race.., impossible I Need a better (suitable for me) wetsuit..

Give it a good rinse in cold water and then let it dry. Once dry, hang it and keep it out of the sun. Your helmet will need a good wipe down and then keep it away from the sun. Also, keep everything somewhere that is cool.

It is simple, poor swimmers when they are swimming with a wetsuit at the moment that they start to swim, they are improving his position and buoyancy because they are dragging, and good swimmers not the buoyancy is excesive. That's my case, I rather swim with my ''speedo'' than swim with the wetsuits. Anyway it is clear that it helps a lot.
