One additional point about the Rule of Thirds as it's called in camera work. The only time you have your subject dead center of the frame like that is in a situation like this, where it's just one person speaking directly to the camera. In every other kind of shot, you divide the screen into thirds both horizontally and vertically, and ideally want the thing that is the focal point of your subject at one of the four points where those lines intersect. With a person, that focal point will be the eye which is closest to the lens, or their head if it's a full body shot. Examples of this can be seen at any moment. You watch the news, and the anchor is in the center of the frame, but you watch a drama where the actors are speaking to each other, and the main subject is to the side, in the upper or lower quarter of the frame. Every good story has a main hero. In a video like this, it's Meredith, but in other videos it may be your guitar or the thing you're unboxing. Think about how where you want to position your hero using the Rule of Thirds.

Do you have a video that shows how to hook up your cannon to your computer and use it as a webcam to record in Descript?

Hi Meredith, I kinda need to see myself while recording, otherwise I look so weird….. which is a good recording tool besides loom (I’m not a fan of loom:()

Your office is what I call a Cloffice. I used to live in an apartment that had a 7' X 7' closet and that became my office. My 6'x6' corner desk barely fit. But I've upgraded. Now I'm in a Garoffice. LoL!

@@meredithmarsh I just discovered you channel and want to say thank you. I've watched other "advice" videos and I often get bored because I don't feel the advice applies to me. Even though I don't do podcasts or talking head videos, I feel that I can take your advice and apply it to my videos. The really hard part for me, and I'm teaching myself Davinci Resolve, is not really the editing. I'm catching on pretty quick. But it's finding (or forcing) friends to be honest. I want the brutal truth and not, "Yeah, I just watched your video and it's amazing." My next question is, "Buuuuuut? What would you change?" I'm sure if you watched my most recent video, you could tear it apart. My wife did (sort of). She told me what I could improve upon (hint I'm going to build a teleprompter). But I've gone off topic. Thank you for your advice and I'm watching more of your videos as I write this. You have a new subscriber. God bless you and your family.
