My phone says it's connected and the illuminating light blinks on the Sony but the radio will not play any sound. When connected my phone plays no sound but the radio still won't play and audio.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! This will guide me into emptying the shell of an SRS-XB22 speaker so I can paint it pink for my wife. (She used to have a pink corvette stingray, and I thought it would be cool to paint one of these pink and put a stingray emblem on the speaker grill.) Thanks again. Thanks, it helped me to fix my speaker by detaching and attaching the battery connector - that fixed the problem with sudden shutdown. Now it is working like a charm again

Mine only worked for a week or so. Never dropped it. Not sure why. The blue light comes on , but that's all. Going to take it apart and try to find a problem. I really liked it when it worked. Very short lived. Thanks for the video.

Great vid, however at min 1:40 I wouldn't recommend using a screwdriver to remove the outer rubber, which will cause damage. Instead, I removed the speakers and gently pull with my fingers without damaging anything.

if changing the battery, you only have to remove grill, remove gasket and the eight speaker screws, pop loose the light ring and remove speaker housing, then the piece that holds the battery slides out, after you unplug the battery connector. Just be mindful of the three small wiring harnesses. Nothing else needs to be touched. But this was VERY helpful in knowing how to get that far. THANKS!

I think this really helped me, thank you. My speaker wasn't charging properly or at all, and didn't work - it would only sometimes turn on, and then cut off in the middle of songs. I think I must have dropped it or something, and taking it apart shifted everything into place...Thanks!

been using this speaker for a long time, still works fine even though the rubber coating is just all gone by now and the grille paint is falling off, and the charging cover has fallen off but the sound quality maintains top notch, I'll keep using it till something goes wrong lol

Ive had this speaker for a few years, still have it, its durability is impressive, but ive dropped it to the max and i just lose sound. Im not sure whats going on, on the inside so im glad i found this video, I’m hoping its just a loose or broken wire, if its some circuits then I’ll have to either get a new speaker or go the more difficult route and find a new circuit board.

i have two Sony xb20 and both of them have the same problem, I can run them full volume (without ExtraBass activated) as long as the base of the song isn't too low and strong, but if the battery is under 50% or the base is to strong or if the ExtraBass is activated when playing at Max. volume they will turn off. The warranty is now over and I don't know what to do as I bought them because of the ExtraBass mode and because of the high volume and now I can't use neither of those things.

Yeah but if voltage on charge module is to low the speaker turn of, becouse, if battery gets to low voltage it can be damage.. When the module is broke thats can be shutting off automaticaly becouse its isnt work correctly

As a daily Speaker User i bought this thinking it was gonna be great , and it was dont get me wrong but the lithium depletes alot quick er compared to black web or bose , just chucked this speaker out the window of my car it kept turning off . I only dropped it once.

I have this speaker too. The battery has stopped charging properly and it needs charging after two hours of use I opened it up and got the speaker screws out but I can't get the clear plastic LED frame out and my tool (same as yours) is chopping the plastic 😟. Any tips on removing it? Is it possible to buy a replacement battery for these?

@@SpeakerFanatic and @Rogers You see 2 red, 2 black and 1 white cable. The 2 reds and blacks are just the + and - . Reason 2 each, less loss due to high current from amplifier and still flexible wire. Since both batteries look to be in series the white one is probably connected to the 'middle' of the batteries. That way the charger can check if both batteries charge evenly to 4.2 Volts (max voltage Li-Ion cell). Purely a guess of experience.

@@Luke-san Caution, those wires *don't* go directly to the batteries. It has a BMS in between. WIring it up directly might damage the circuit of the speaker!
