As someone who liked playing 0 deaths/detections in this game who cringed at the “mistakes” made in this playthrough, I also think it’s a VERY salient point that the game offers WAY more fun tools to walk a bloody path. Maybe that’s the real moral struggle of the game, to not give into the temptation of using more than just your Blink to progress. (Although blink is incredibly dope)

So the thing with the Heart is that npcs are basically grouped up by type, such as guards, overseers, civilians, servants, etc. Each group has a pool of different responses it can go through, and if you keep spamming the heart on one npc it'll eventually cycle through all the responses the heart can give for that type of npc. Some npcs have their own unique pools of Heart dialogue, such as Havelock, Pendleton, Pierro, Emily and most of the mission targets I believe, but a lot of the people in the Hounds Pits Pub are in generic groups like servant or civilian. That's why Wallace can give the weird Heart response about narking to the overseers even though he's a loyal member of the conspiracy. I was very confused by this myself when I first played the game as I exhausted the heart on everyone and everything, but I figured out what was going on when I met other maids, civilians, etc. Also, if you're not aiming at/close enough to a person it will give you dialogue for the area you're in, for example I guess you were too far from Havelock so it gave you a Hounds Pits Pub line instead.

Finally someone says the main problem I have with the first dishonored, it gives you all these fun toys of murder but then yells at you for using them. Hell the melee combat alone feels great but it likes to yell at you for using it. That's also not mentioning most of the guards if you hear them speak are monsters and basically laugh about kicking the poor and ignoring protocol to stop the spread of the plague

@@derstein3368 If you kill too many of the guards who basically go around about talking about how they enjoy stomping puppies you get the bad ending. Also if you kill the guard who actively talk about ignoring plague regulations more of the plague zombies show up. The game punishes you for choosing one play style over the other even though most of the weapons and powers lean towards that play style more than the other

I gotta say I 100% understand getting inspired by Terry Pretchetts Discworld the books are such a lovely time It may be also reason for the look of the characters the cover illustrator Paul Kidby has art style kinda reminiscent of them.
