Siege has the most weird and twitchy players I’ve ever seen in an online game. One time a teammate messaged me saying to “stay away from him” just cus we both happened to be looking out the same window. I had a 7 or 8 kill match and at the end he messaged me again trying to be cool with me. I have a bunch of random stories like that. I’ll never understand Siege players😅

Much as I dislike Siege now, its core gameplay is still true to what used to be. Ubisoft unfortunately doubled down on the wrong parts to their tactical, competitive, first-person shooter and went wacky on their aesthetics and operator abilities for the sake of consistent updates and variety to monetization. Did that destroy my hopes for the game being closer to their E3 demo, and has probably lost 80% or more of their original player base? Yep. Do they continue to do well with this game, and have (more than) made up for the original players they lost? Very likely.

They also downgraded the graphics because pro players asked for it. A couple of years later Siege esport is at an all time low. Barely anyone cares for this game anymore. Interestingly enough, Chief absolutely WOULD have done door-kicking spec ops missions nearly identical to the ones in siege. The UNSC was fighting insurrectionists at the same time as the Covenant, and John has been fighting both since like 15.

It’s true! Spartans were originally intended to be used against Insurrectionist forces! Halsey talks about it in Halo 4, which I believe might be the first time one of the games explicitly mentions this. In a summary of her own words, when when the covenant were at Humanity’s doorstep, nobody questioned *why* the UNSC just happened to already have Spartans on standby, or who their original target must have been, if not the Covenant.

I'd find it cooler if this was some kinda rare thing that only happens every now and again. Ever since Fortnight popularized these "crossover" skins, they've been turning up in every big multiplayer shooter. This type of team based shooter often does. As mentioned it's for realism, and also as a gameplay mechanic. It prevents carefree spraying the instant you see an enemy by forcing proper positioning, and you can't just casually throw grenades without thinking either. You are meant to know where you teammates are and play around them.
