We bought a small house with a nice bit of land around it in lyulin village in the yambol region to do up, needs not to much work but we love it going over there. Bulgaria is beautiful and so are the people. Good luck to you.

By the way: why a chili farm? Is there a big demand for chili? Or did I misinterpreted what you said?

@@ourbulgarianadventure no, you heard right 😃 and we're the demand 😅 we love growing super hots and every year we make tons of chilli sauce. People have been telling us for years that we should produce it, so we might have a go. But really it's about sticking to what you know and love 😊

Wow all amazing options 😍 @mindfulmotorcyclist and I dream of doing somwthing similar in the near future. When we were staying in Bulgaria we found a stream running through the forest and made a pool for our cold water skinny dipping very day. It was heaven. You've got such an adventure ahead of you, we'll try to come and join in and help whenever you need it hopefully see you this spring/summer too when we go to Albania. Dude... ! There is a reason why the village is up on the valley side (hill). Agua, water, H2O... Swamp... Ruuuuunnnnn! I nearly bought a place just like it... Thanks Zeus I came to my senses. Buying Property: 1. legal right to buy, occupy, build, etc. 2. boundaries very clearly set out / marked. 3. Legal ROW, right of way / access. Have fun, From Ivan in NZ.

Nice idea You can have a well drilled and solar panels off grid living is achievable The biggest expense is building a property 👍

The last one with the stream is the best in the way you have water (also in summer ?), you are able to make a small dam and build an off-grid turbine to produce some electricity in combination with solar panels. Consider the distance from the land to a school for the children, extreme remote is not wat you want i suppose ? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKapaXSJotyLqpY
@alternativelivingbulgaria6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for that. I was talking with a friend a few days ago about turbines. I'm not 100% sure if the stream is within borders, on the border, or on the protected land. But If we can, that's definitely something we'll be looking in to. Appreciate the comment 🙏🏼

And yes, it's super easy to find stunning wilderness here in BG, but finding that close to a great town is not as easy. We're not looking at anything more than 30 minutes driving from town, school, hospital, shops etc.

Before anybody says its a great move to go live in Bulgaria, go there for a couple of months and live out of the bubble for a while, using their services, trying out the language basics. You gonna notice a lot of stuff might not be as expected, I live in this region for 7years, Romania and Bulgaria and I'm from Portugal, i noticed it's somewhat challenging... Big up for you guys, good luck with you project and thks for sharing ;)

I thought that only Bulgarian citizens can buy land. Just an observation. Perhaps you have already organised that. You're very brave going fully off-grid. No easy task. Water source is critical. Dropping a borehole is extremely expensive. Sadly going completely off grid has more challenges in Europe, especially Bulgaria. Solar here is far more expensive than in the US.

Thanks For commenting ❤️ We have owned a Bulgarian company for around 10 years now and we can use that to buy land 😊
@keithdouglas98486 ай бұрын
Europeans can buy land without setting up a company . Bulgaria is in European union so any other country in European union can buy land there very easily.
@alternativelivingbulgaria6 ай бұрын
@@keithdouglas9848correct, but for UK citizens to buy agricultural land, you need to have either held residency for 5 years continuously, or owned a Bulgarian company for 5 years.
@keithdouglas98486 ай бұрын
No Europeans can buy land outright , I think anyone else just needs to set up a company n buy it through the company .not complicated and very easy process.

Yup... waterfall plot for me. Bedrock is close to the surface so soil is probably not the best but gardens can be developed. Don't forget the old rule... look what everyone else is growing in that area... be nosey look at their yards... Apples, pears, plums... grapes... I see briar ( rose family) so the soil is probably good for herbs... I see oaks so maybe plant many trees and inoculate them to grow ... um ... um... fungus thingy... sheeet I be gittin old... Q. How far from Burgas? Take care, from Ivan in NZ.

Thank you! Gardening is actually my main background so I'm very excited about that. New Zealand is stunning and we have considered it, but don't currently have that kind of dollar. My sister is in Melbourne so we'll definitely be over that way at some point!
@ivanfitness23716 ай бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Yes, New Zealand is pretty to look at. So! Pretty girls are nice to look at too. So! It is never enough to look at one must do and I do not mean bungy jump or jet boat) { Flippin tourist flock and sit in comfy coaches and look... may as well buy a big tv.} Any internet search will tell you that land and house prices are very high as are rent prices. A pretty average motel in a provincial town is $140. I like to sleep at night so hostels are not my thing ... any more. As an example a quarter acre section in my town in the deep south is $70.000. To build will cost you... um, well sell the missus (and the dog) into slavery and you may have enough just for the permits. It is possible to live wild but one would need to be very discrete.( I have done this often and still do it though less than when young / yesterday haha) Hitch hiking is still possible and (mostly) safe. Solo females should be of the tougher breed. Personally, I would start with a big tent (In Bulgaria) and get on with your gardens first. Here in NZ many many people have the small plot (a few hectares) dream, but it is not long before reality sets in; hence the tent. If you still love "your spot" after a few years, then build a house, if you have the dinero. I have a small house on a quarter acre and am highly motivated yet still don't do all I could in terms of... everything. Have you seen the blog "No Milk Today " set in Somerset. This is worth a look for self sufficency. May the Gods be with you... esp. if you wander up into Count Dracula country. From Ivan in NZ (Southland)

If you're planning on buying a plot and living on it before summer I'm guessing that'll be in a caravan or pre-fabricated shed? And don't underestimate the length.time the municipality can spend with all the red tape. Have you done any of this before in BG?

Mate ,from experience buying in Bulgaria if you buy agricultural land you will need to change to status to regulated ,( if you wish to build on it) but be careful not all agricultural land can be changed to regulated.
@alternativelivingbulgaria6 ай бұрын
Thank you. We've been doing this a while so have a pretty good understanding of what's possible. We will look into regulating a small section, but we'll most likely go down an agricultural route or non permanent structure route 😊🤞🏼

Awesome, what an incredible challenge. Can't wait to see which one you guys go for and what you do with it. Do you have to change the use of the land to put a house up?. (Is that easy?).
@alternativelivingbulgaria6 ай бұрын
Thanks for commenting! Yes, if you want to build a conventional house, first you need to regulate a section of the land. That can take a while with no guarantee you'll get it. We will most likely be going down the route of very small non permanent structures or applying to build a farm and register as farmers.

Where will your daughter go to school? How would it work if she doesn't understand Bulgarian? :)

Good question! It's very important to us that she learns Bulgarian. She attended play school for most of a year, then a few months ago, she started kindergarten here in our local town. She already understands a lot and speaks a little and she's just 3 years old. Plot one and plot 3 are only a 10 minute drive to school, mostly offroading, plot 2 is a 25 minute drive, but there would be a school bus.

Nice video 😊 I am Bulgarian, but I lived in Belgium my whole life. I finished my studies there, and my boyfriend and I decided to try living in Bulgaria. We are already 5 months into it, and we still have mixed feelings about the country, and especially the infrastructure. Sofia is so overbuild and very polluted, and the rest of do country look really a huge disaster. We are also looking to buy a place or land, but it is really not easy to find something we like. Congrats that you still manage to stay in this country! I really don’t know how you do… but good luck to you and your family! I
