I have a cannon lighter I have been trying to restore just like this one, it is cosmetically in much better condition but the springs are missing and broken... Do you perchance have measurements/details/ideas on where I might source replacement springs from?

Thanks for watching, you can order a universal spring set online, there are different springs. The spring that holds the flint can be removed from, for example, a cheap gas lighter

From Germany I have one question: wouldn't it be better to put the whole thing into the rust remover BEFORE the disassembly? I watched a lot of such restauration videos, and all the guys do it the same: first they disassemble, and after that they put the parts into the parts into the cleaning fluid, rust remover, vinegar or other solvents, so I guess it seems to be the right order, but...WHY?
