I'm not a prospective buyer, so apologies upfront if my comment carries little value. I found this video very interesting cos I myself live in a no-bedroom apt (a.k.a a studio, but that's just a fancy term) which I bought, have a long way to go on the mortgage, and is nowhere near as luxurious. You're right, paying a mortgage results in equity (3:30) whereas paying rent is just consumption. That said, there are times nowadays when I kinda wish I was just renting.. moving to a new place would be much easier. I no longer have quiet surroundings with the increase in population density in my area. The lady at the elevator (5:25) seems very camera-shy 😅 and the railing at the balcony (6:19) doesn't go up high enough for me.. and I'm short! Also, does the price include the furnishings (electric hob, aircon units, sofas wrapped in plastic, etc.) or are those just for display? At USD65k for 30sqm, I'm guessing they're just for show. The maintenance fee of THB1.2k (RM154) p.mth is not far off from what I'm paying now (RM170 p.mth for 35sqm) but like I said, my place is nowhere near as luxurious! 😒

Thanks for your comments. If I was still single, I would just rent. As you say, it's easier to move, and what's the point of acquiring equity if you have no one to leave it to? I didn't ask, but I think everything in the room is included in the price. I should have asked. I also forgot to ask about car parking. With 519 condos and most Thais having a car, that could be an issue. We all have different circumstances. A condo wouldn't be right for me, but it will suit others.

Great view of Hat Yai from the apartment. Nice pool. Actually the gym had good equipment too. 😀👍

Agree totally! Stunning views and some really nice facilities. The mini theatre is a great place to watch movies, and that rooftop garden was a really pleasant place to be. The condos were quite small and the service charge quite high. You'd have to make your own mind up whether the pros outweigh the cons. We're all different and it's a personal choice.

I prefer the design of the one bedroom by Dcondo. The entrance opens to the living room and bedroom with the kitchen and bathroom on the other side separated by a door. This way, it is easier for me to cook and to keep clean. Thanks for the video.

It's been years since I took a look at a condo building in Hat Yai, and I haven't seen D Condo. I'll try to look around some more soon in future videos. D Condo is just behind where my lad used to play football. They're currently building another condo building just behind the existing one. It's a good location for HomePro and Central Festival! Thanks for your comment.

@gangsom Napalai? That's the place I talked about at the start of the video. For many years it was the only high rise condo building in Hat Yai. Now, there are many. I expect Lopetegui will be sacked very soon. Considering how much was spent in the summer, our season so far has been a disaster.

@@expatlivinginthailandyes the one at the start. Been inside it's not that great. Luton got rid of food players never got new players in . Spent all the premiership money on the new ground we're building amd low and behold we aren't doing very well. Amd every one is blaming the manage bit unfair.
@expatlivinginthailand
@expatlivinginthailand Ай бұрын
@gangsom The new ground will be expensive, but necessary if Luton want to reach the top level again. It's always the manager who gets blamed, but in Lopetegui's case, there does seem to be a problem.

WHen I first moved to Thailand I lived in a beautiful new two bedroom condo, but I had 2 suitcases and two 1m cube boxes of belongings. Now years later I live in a large 3 bedroom house and would not even fit 10% of my belongings in one of those condos 😂

Same with me. It's surprising how much 'stuff' you accumulate over time and you need somewhere to keep it. After putting a roof over the outside area of the house early this year, I now have a lot of storage space but it's surprising how quickly it fills up.

Good evening Sir, understand that Hat Yai having a terrible weather this few days, any updated ? ( Safety first ) Thanks and good night.
@expatlivinginthailand
@expatlivinginthailand Ай бұрын
@lianjs5305 That's right. I should have done a quick update. It has been raining almost constantly since Sunday - sometimes quite heavily. Today, the flag status went to yellow everywhere and to red in 13 communities. A red flag basically tells people to move to higher ground. There is currently flooding in some parts of town. It has just started raining again. Also, there has been bad flooding in Kelantan, and I have heard that flood water from Malaysia is heading towards Hat Yai. This could arrive tomorrow and make things a lot worse. All the schools are closed. I'm just staying at home as our house is in an area not prone to flooding. It's not a good time to be in Hat Yai at the moment.

Hat Yai prices have risen a lot. I have to say the actual condos seem very soulless and particularly small (which I know is normal in these developments) but nice facilities though.
@expatlivinginthailand
@expatlivinginthailand Ай бұрын
It's crazy. I bought my house about 12 years ago. The base price was 5.8m, but I had some things changed and added, so paid about 6.2m. Compared to those places, it's huge. There were also some smaller houses in my development for 4m, but they are also a lot bigger than those condos. I agree with you, plus there is zero storage space. It seems expensive, but they must be priced competitively otherwise they wouldn't sell. This is Hat Yai in 2024. If you want to buy a property or even just a piece of land, it's very expensive.

@expatlivinginthailand Ай бұрын
@shahesfelazi8549 Sorry. It's not good at the moment. Several areas are flooded, and it's uncertain what will happen in the next few days. If there is more rain, or if flood water arrived from the Malaysian border, it could get worse. I certainly wouldn't advise travelling to Hat Yai at the moment.

When I was a student in PSU back in 2017, I used to live in a very simple but spacious room for just around 3000 Baht per month rent, near Sri Trang area. Do they still have rooms for 3 to 4 thousand Baht per month rent any where in Hat Yai city ? I mean if possible, why don't you make video of this kind. I know its just my desire, you probably don't have to agree with me. Any way stay blessed & have good health.

@@trashbox4807 I've seen rooms advertised for less than Bt2,000 a month! However, these wouldn't suit most foreigners. I used to live in a nice place near the Bangkok Hospital that cost Bt6,500 per month. It's been a long time since I lived in an apartment, and costs for all things have risen. The area around PSU will have a lot of lower priced rooms because there are so many students. Thanks for your comment!

It's a lot of money, but not untypical for Hat Yai these days. If I was still single, I wouldn't even consider buying a condo. What's the point? I only bought a house to give my wife and kids some security in the future, although it comes with the added benefit of living somewhere that is very comfortable and spacious.

I know what you mean, but this is typical for Hat Yai in 2024. There's a big condo building near the bus station, and there used to be a billboard advertising condos for around 1 million. I'd like to see how it compares. Probably not as fancy and fewer facilities, but more reasonably priced.
