What sad is, if you don't have a flood insurance. That's not covered by home insurance alone.

unpreparedness for flood is the reason, building roads that block water flow, occupying waterways, building in low lying areas are some of reasons flood enters into homes.

Several of the big insurance companies are already working on moving out of CA, because of all the fires that happen every year. If the state would do proper maintenance in the forests, fields etc, they wouldn't get out of control like they do. The state wants us dependant on them, which is what will happen with most people when they either can't get, or can't afford insurance premiums. This is so wrong.

@@TRoth858 I lived in California for 26 years. I moved to Kansas to resurrect my sense of humanity. Almost 19 years, only had to replace my roof twice from hail damage; much lower cost of living; I was lucky to find the house of me dreams in 2005 for $185k; soon all coastal areas will be uninhabitable and although an earthquake in Kansas isn’t as likely as California (I lived through 1994 in Northridge), I still carry earthquake insurance. The premium is $30 per year, with 5% deductible. 😎👍

@liberatedwoman I've lived in KS twice in my life (as a child). I can deal with the tornados. But what I can't deal with is the humidity. Although, CA has been very humid every summer for the past 13-14 yrs. So yuk! I still have a best friend, and a niece that lives in Wichita. Wichita is a beautiful place to live. And so much more affordable for sure. You're smart to still carry earthquake insurance. Stay safe! 🤗

There's over 500 groundwater aquifers that you can find their water levels with a simple search. 60% of California's water comes from ground water. Not the Colorado River.

If that small of a storm can carry that much moisture, imagine the next high category tropical storm, or God forbid a strong cyclone. When a stronger and longer lasting winter storm happens AGAIN, this is just a puddle compared.

They introduce those risks & invite those problems. Arroyo, playa, estuary, floodplain, coastal buffer zone, yet hazardously build in those places, emplace infrastructure, fail engineering, spite EIS, & elevate inevitable disaster, but ClimateCon ... I know those areas well enough, seems many have little awareness & respect for Cordillera climate amid rampant watershed encroachment from Tijuana & Otay north up the coast were impending disasters.
