I'd love to see you use the lenses on the object surrounding your plants to see how much the mites travel! I wonder if your shelves have a lot mites hiding on them?

I have the Apexel 200x lens and it’s AMAZING for looking at flat mites and broad mites. You need at least 100x magnification for the smaller mites. I use a 40x jewellers loupe to scout the leaves and if I see anything suspicious, I break out the Apexel. It does have to be right up against the leaf though. Note that flat mites can be treated with your Castile/isopropyl spider mite spray, but they have a really slow life cycle so you want to treat less frequently but for longer. The eggs take around three weeks to hatch so treat every third week and you’re golden. They’re just mites, so you don’t need to use anything special to get rid of them.

I’ve been hoping for a video like this. Pest treatment can be overwhelming.

I’m currently in a spider mites death row, and I needed that video, just to know that it’s ok to be overwhelmed 😭

I really needed this video today. I just encountered for the first time, thrips. Omg. I am overwhelmed. Yes I threw some plants away. Yes I chopped a lot of plants already. I finished (in two days) all of the washing/pest treatments. I am so sad, but I understand this is part of the game. Time to keep up with it. Thank you for your kind wise words🙏🏻✨ we got this, fuck these bugs!

I am appalled that people have the nerve to tell you such things. Geez…that’s crazy. I am so freaked out by thrips…knock on wood but I’ve never had a thrip outbreak. My daughter has, I wouldn’t hesitate to use systemic granules for a few months but she uses beneficial predators. I don’t want the good bugs crawling around, that would freak me out as well. Very cool lenses! If you had a butterwort or drosera, those are very cool to see under a microscopic lens!

I don't know if I wanna get a lens for flatmites cause I'd just suspect they're there if theres damage but no pests in sight. 😂 Btw I've only encountered spidermites once (don't think they life in my area) but those were white so probably young ones?

I have a room in my house that any plant I put in there it gets thrips. So maybe it’s the location ?
