Takara did back in 2018 and it was handled much better. Unfortunately, they only released a Tie Advanced and Millennium Falcon and never made any more, likely due to low sales because of the previous line’s fumbles.

I used to collect micro machine mission fleet ships because the little figures fit the G1 transformers vehicle modes. When they came out with the Star Wars Transformers,I was excited until I actually saw them . Aside from the awkward proportions, what really turned me off was them having human heads instead of robocized renditions. It just looked like they popped on an action figure head on a transformer body.

If these were done nowadays (ignoring the Takara Vader TIE Fighter and Chewie/Han Millenium Falcon), I think that Hasbro and Takara would make wholly original characters with Star Wars vehicles as alternate modes and release them under the Collaborative range. While the easiest options would be the most recognizable OT vehicles (an X-Wing vs a TIE Fighter), I wouldn’t mind seeing them tackle stuff that was a bit weirder. A TIE Bomber, Y-Wing and A-Wing could produce interesting results (the A-wing would get my vote), but if we’re not limited to the original trilogy, we could get better versions of the prequel vehicles (holding out for a Commander-scale Republic Gunship) or even some of the most iconic obscure vehicles like the Outrider or the Ghost.

Which makes sense with wave 1 since the vehicles had pilots. This means the robot weren't meant to be the characters despite resembling them.

There's the Millennium Falcon which is already taken by Han Solo & Chewbacca, and there's Rey's speeder bike from the force awakens. The latter vehicle may be difficult to make a standard design out of.

I have the 4-in-1 star destroyer transformer. The transformation is literally 4 steps: 1. Make sure he's in Anakin mode. 2. Collapse and tab together the legs. 3. Snap the arms into the sides. 4. Put all the shell parts around him. Also his head doesn't move, he literally can't stand up without collapsing his legs back up and balancing him on his cape, neither of the weapons made from the shell hold on well, the big wing things in Vader mode refuse to stay on, and the back of the jedi cruiser is so fragile it'll fall apart if you even breathe on it. I agree, though. It was definitely ambitious.

One of the reasons the Darth Vader Death Star figure worked is because Hasbro clearly reused some of the Unicron and Primus parts for it since it shares their general shape, proportions, and kibble.

It does not share any parts with either Primus or Unicron. Transformation is similar, but that comes with the territory of curling into a ball.

I checked the tfwiki, and I don’t think that’s correct. There were no fully proportional Unicron figures until 2010, three years before Darth Vader / Death Star. and Primus’ 2006 toy has no mention of being tied to Darth Vader.

If we were ever to see this crossover return, I’d love to see actual transformers characters take on Star Wars alt modes. Just as an example, I’d love to see the Seeker trio done up as X-Wings, Optimus as a Clone Dropship, and Tidal Wave as a Star Destroyer.

Bumblebee could work as Luke's land speeder. The Rebel Snow Speeder might work for Ironhide, since its a more heavy-duty ground vehicle. Personally I think it would be cool to get Optimus Prime as an AT-TE. If not Optimus, Grimlock can also potentially work with an AT-TE. The Insecticons could work with some Droid Vehicles like the Spider Droid & Vulture Droids.

At 7:58 Actually yes. He still uses the Jedi starfighter until the Tie fighter series were introduce. Vader still uses his Starfighter after the Revenge of the sith. As the Tie Fighters didn't even existed until years later. They were still using Clone Wars Era Technology I don't remember when they transition with Tie Fighters. But probably around where they get rid of the clones and start producing more Empire Era technology

Also, funny enough, the AT-AT is 18 meters tall. Just by it's 4 legs. Imagine it transforms. It would bump up the height even bigger. Imagine a two legged 20 something Meter Transforming AT-AT destroying a rebel base is terrifying. Especially its the face of your enemy.

Just a few weeks ago I dug through an old bin of old stuff I had when I was a kid and found the transforming millennium falcon. I was pretty excited because I'd remembered really liking it. Unfortunately, I had my first actual GPS experience and part of the chewie half's legs just disintegrated when I went to transform it. Rip

I remember back in college, I conceptualized a fanfic crossing over the two properties. The basic plot was that Megatron learns of a galaxy-spanning empire, and leads the Decepticons to the Star Wars Galaxy to ally himself with and/or conquer the Empire, while Optimus leads the Autobots to stop them. Megatron befriends Palpatine and Vader, Optimus trains with Obi-Wan to learn the ways of the Force, and it culminates with a Transformer scale lightsaber duel. And yes, the characters all take on vehicle modes from the Star Wars universe, because we all know Hasbro would demand that so they could sell toys.

That Takara Millenium Falcon was tempting me badly when it was first revealed. They injected so much super robot into it that I was wanting it regardless of the IPs associated with it. They were just really badass looking super robots. It helps that Han Solo wasn't married to the idea of having to be a mecha version of the character that the actual character could pilot and could just be a generic transformer like what the more recent crossover transformers are doing. If it weren't for the paint job you couldn't even recognize it as Han Solo. And on some of the earlier ones all you'd have to do is replace the head to significantly improve it. I've even seen some customs where people have turned the early crossover toys into bodies for Titan Masters and they look incredible.

The only two I ever own are the 2006 TIE Advanced Darth Vader and the 2018 Millennium Falcon Solo and Chewbacca. It’s a shame Takara Tomy didn’t make more because the 2018 Falcon is an absolute gem. I would have love to see an actual good Slave I Boba Fett from them.

As a little kid when these were big, my parents bought me loads of these things and I never wanted to transform them. My little brothers tried to though and they lost all the parts that could come off. So yeah, it was the Star Wars aspect that sold the line.

Yeah, with the resurgence in Collaborative as a toyline, and getting actual TF designers involved, you could probably overcome some of the original line’s shortcomings. Making the vehicles transform into original characters like Ectotron and JP93 instead of Luke Skywalker would probably also help. It’s an interesting history (and I have a pretty solid Iron Man jet one) but reach exceed grasp here.

I think with the recent crossovers, namely with Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and Dracula, they’re Hasbro/Takara are really showing that they can make something original out of a preexisting idea. I’d be 100% down if they made an original X-wing, TIE, or anything into a new figure.

I had most of these as a kid. I was a transformers fan and loved the unicron trilogy, and I had a dad that loved starwars and marvel. My two favorites were the death star and the 4 in 1 anakin Vader toy. As far as a resurgence, with takara and Hasbro merging I'd like to see an eventual combined effort on a new line atleast for starwars because modern engineering is leaps and bounds better than it used to be. The old crossovers hulk was, definitely something.

i think the best star wars transforner I've ever seen(and owned) was the clone wars Y-wing/clone. it was a flawless Y-wing model with all cowling intact, and turned into a near perfect clone trooper with just slightly odd feet and little Y-wing-nose side skirts. it was one of the little ones, but worked really well.

In Revenge of the Sith after Order 66 Emperor Palpatine tells Darth Vader to go to Mustafar and take care of them . Darth Vader flown the Jedi starship to Mustafar and took care of them before his fight with Obi Wan Kenobi . so Darth Vader flown the Jedi starship but he wasn't in his armor form yet

I was at a buddy's house (son of mom's best friend) and he was with his school's friend or something like that. He has a lot more of toy in his room than me so I was looking around and their is a lot of star wars Lego and I see in a corner a Death Star/Darth Vader completely "exploded". It was just the plate that weren't aligned properly but the buddy says that if I manage to put it back together because he forget, I could keep it. Took me some minutes but I manage to understand how the toy's supposed to fold and some pieces are missing or somewhere in the room like the figurines or the plat on the left forearm and the feet.

The few Star Wars Transformers I have are original characters as far as my collection is concerned. For example, Luke's X-Wing is Hexwing, who is one of the Force sensitive Autobots (unlike droids, Cybertronians are living beings so why not?) but isn't interested in joining Jedimus Prime's (the second Jedi Starfighter) Jedi Autobots. Meanwhile Darth Megatron (Imperial Shuttle) filled out his Sith Decepticon ranks with Decepticon bounty hunters. He also wants to reconstruct the Death Star so his master, Darth Star (yeah, I know) can turn it into his new body and get revenge on Unicron and Primus both for reasons I haven't really come up with yet. I don't have the entire line but the ones I do each have their own name and history. Snowstorm the snowspeeder is the opposite of Hexwing, someone who uses Jedi techniques to better himself but is not Force sensitive. They're both my favorite ideas from my concept because there's something fun as a writer to explore there between the two characters.

I actually picked and still have that General Grievous/Wheel bike, even after that been in vehicle mode after (Primus knows how long) I moved to my own, it's still intact though when I transform it last year or so; few pieces cracked off but it still was able to transform back and forth.

One of my friends had the Jedi star fighter one, and that sucker was so hard to keep transformed. I remember the wings were so heavy and the tabs/hinges were so weak that they would come untabbed and flop around if you breathed on the thing.

I only ever bought two of the Star Wars transformers, X-wing and Tie bomber, for the exact reason you said. I wanted decent sized, affordable, desk display ships. The titanium series ships are nice, but a little too small while the 3 3/4 scale were too big and too pricey for my desired display.

Believe it or not, the only Star Wars Transformers crossover toy I ever got, was the AAT transforming Battle Droid, which is the grey one instead, and that was it…I didn’t get any other figures, regardless of my temptation!!

Well as a Transformers fan I didn't like them at first, but oddle enough i liked the packaging for the spinner they had. Then I got i nto Star Wars i though they were alright, though i only got the TIE Pilot to TIE Bomber and Captain Rex to AT-TE. I looked at others including the small Class 1 figures but never got any. Now i would like to get some more, mainly focussing on the Clones and a few other major characters. But now I would like to get at least 1 original figure to keep sealed and others to have loose. That AT-AT Driver to AT-AT looks whacky! I want one.

One vehicle that I fear sadly will never be done, even if Hasbro return to this idea, whether in the original concept of Transformer versions of Star Wars Characters, the collaborative concept of original characters or the GIJoe crossover concept of Transformer characters as Star Wars vehicles, despite it being one of Star War's most Iconic vehicles, is the TIE Fighter, not the vader one, nor the bomber, nor any of the other varients, just the basic fighter, unless they pull off something like that tablet soundwave with it, then there is simply not enough bulk.

Surprised you didn't talk about the 1986 movie at all considering how many references to Star Wars were in that movie. Arcee's design is based on Princess Leia, that's why she has those buns on the sides of her helmet. Megatron uses a lightsaber in his fight with Optimus Prime. There's a scene where Hot Rod is fighting a training drone with his vision blocked imitating a scene where Luke Skywalker does the exact same thing. Unicron is basically part Galactus part Death Star. Also I kind of dropped off the Star Wars crossovers line after the Death Star, I knew the figure existed but never picked one up. I did have all of the figures that came out before the Death Star but not anything that came after. The one thing that I think never did well as a Transformers line is the fact that the robot modes were designed to just be robot versions of Star Wars characters and most of them ended up not really looking like anything. I would kind of want them to take another go at the Star Wars crossovers now that they've had experiences making Ectrotron, Giggawatt, and other characters as actual transformers characters, that's what everyone really wanted and was expecting from the Star Wars line that we never really got. Also that general Grievias LOOKS cool but is actually the WORST figure they ever produced. It doesn't actually work in EITHER of it's two modes. In robot mode the limbs are so long and thin plus the joints are so loose that it's impossible to actually stand the figure up no matter how you pose it. I actually have an easier time getting Mega class Beast Machines Cheetor to stand up because at least he doesn't have a giant back pack and the joints are a lot tighter. In vehicle mode, the legs are suppose to be able to fold up so it can actually roll around as a giant wheel but the toy doesn't do that, it doesn't have the articulation to even pull off that pose and the wheel has no actual way to roll do to how it transforms. I mentioned earlier about how the figure doesn't stand up because of the long thin legs and loose joints... that's true in vehicle mode as well. I think I still have mine actually if you want him for a future plastic addict review. The other figures as bad as they look at least I can get them to actually stand up.

For me a transformer that becomes a starwars ship was an awesome concept but i am a transformers fan who also likes star wars im sure a star wars fan would be opposite also even for me i have the millennium falcon, stardestroyer and death star and they hang out in their best modes the vehicle.

I'm a transformers fan I got some of these as I do like star wars and these where different but if I'm honest I wouldn't of picked these up if their vehicle modes were bad.

I believe there was an X-Men or Marvel Attactix as well. A local game store in my area sells them individually pretty cheap and I remember seeing some X-Men. I just can't remember if they were labeled as X-Men or Marvel. I could probably Google the details but I prefer to exercise the wet ware even if the results aren't 100% accurate. I was in Walmart the other day and saw that they have transforming Marvel figures. I don't think they are calling them Transformers at all but they were stuck on the back side of the ROTB endcap display they have set up.

I remember I had Greivous, the han/chewie falcon, and I think maybe mace windu? one of the jedi. Greivous was okay but I didn’t find his transformation scheme fun so i just kept him in robot mode. The falcon duo were a lot more fun but I remember even as a kid thinking Han had a little too much kibble. Whichever Jedi character I had sucked ass. Then for marvel I had the gray deco for the Hulk, which I liked, even though I normally dont like tank modes that have their treads split apart for the robot mode. I also had wolverine, he was decent, and then Symbiote deco for the spider-cycle, and Venom. The spider-cycle was also just okay, but Venom sucked ass too. I think he was the only Transformer I owned that actually frustrated me. I prided myself on my ability to remember how to transform my tots years after I got them, but Venom was the exception, and if I remember there was even a bit of part-forming. Fuck that Venom toy

I think Star Wars transformers could work today with the engineering we have but they have to be original characters to give more design freedom. I think a safe bet would be an x wing and tie fighter 2 pack and see how well it goes

I say if Hasbro do a crossover with Star Wars then a easy figure is getting Titan's return Triggerhappy and doing a recolor and some retooling so the alt mode is an X-Wing with the head/Titan master being Luke or a Rebel poilet.

you know whats wierd to me, I dont think using the at-at legs for the stormtrooper's legs wasnt a bad idea, personally have BW megatron and the dragon thunderzord as ideas for how to work with the legs. Though the issue was execution and probably time crunch.
