With shipping my rule of thumb is if I can get another item that I like for the same amount as shipping costs , then it’s worth it. If I’m spending way more money than the cost of shipping to get free shipping, then it’s not a deal anymore. And 90% of the time I just pay for the shipping now.

When I first began buying things online in the late 90's, everything shipped free (from businesses, not ebay or individuals). The thought process was that the business didn't have to pay for a brick-and-mortar store, employees to run that store, etc etc. So even paying shipping, they still came out ahead. Boy those were the days..lol

When you're making international orders, shipping does matter. It sucks shipping things to Australia lmao so sometimes if you can get lower shipping, it's more worth it. Just something to consider.

Same! Aussie here and I stock up if placing an international order. The way I see it, shipping is really included in the pricing for most products. Warehousing is cheaper than brick & mortar stores so unless it’s a very small business or indie company, they can absorb the shipping cost anyway. Large companies get huge shipping discounts based on volume anyway.

I order from the Caribbean so I have to pay shipping within America to a freight forwarder/skybox then to pay shipping and customs when it gets to my island. It kinda sucks, I sometimes end up paying double the worth to get it! So I feel better buying anything when it's discounted because I'll still have to pay more in the end.

I enjoy your channel because of the minimalistic approach you have to new purchases and products you're already holding. You've helped me justify my makeup & skincare collection and I can proudly state I have all in all 15 stable products I use and no longer feel pressured to purchase 'new' or hyped up products. Companies really have excellent in instilling FOMO into ppl and one thing we are never taught about is how we should be financially cautious and embrace what we have as sufficient! So when I want something I will window shop, add so many items to my cart and reevaluate my life...how important are those items, do I need them, will they bring me joy etc and before you know it I am closing the site without making a purchase.

I bought all 4 ROEN quads as well as both singles. It was expensive and I had regrets right away… then the package arrived and I do not regret ANYTHING I got. I use them all the time and love every single shade. Also if I’m only doing one thing to my brows it will always be the easy breezy brow… love!

I only have two, but I love my Róen quads. I’ve been using them so much this summer. I always get compliments, and I usually just do a quick, one and done look. Just swipe on one creamy, shimmery, stunning color on the lid with practically no effort and it’s stunning. I’m shocked how much I like them. Which palette is your favorite?

Just smear with a finger and if I’m feeling sassy I’ll add liner to the bottom lash line. It looks like so much effort.

I really stopped buying makeup entirely. I'm over following all the trends. I'm not into the current trend of just "look show from your childhood slapped on colors we already sell! Give us your nostalgia money!" I've settled into my go to products. I use Kim chi for concealer. I think it's the best I've ever used. Mac for lipstick. Sugarpill for eyeshadow. Every thing else is drug store. I even stopped my subscription boxes cuz they just weren't wowing me. Makeup expires. Having a collection of all these things that literally go bad is a huge waste of product and money.

I am just at the beginning of your video but want to say that I would love to see more creators talking about conscious makeup buying and using what they have... I honestly don't feel like people need to bring in new products constantly in order to keep their channel going... there are dedicated project pan creators that some buy new things and some won't because they want to use what they have and they do fine... I am a small channel and feel like the constant buy mentality on KZbin has gotten out of control.... I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, as I don't feel you are like that. At one time I had all Menagerie palettes and I decluttered all but killer purr because of the staining. It's not normal staining. It's intense staining. Even with an eye primer, setting the base, not setting the base, using an oil cleanser, using eye remover. It still looks like you have eyeshadow on.

I ended up moving around my Colourpop shadows from multiple palettes I owned and out of 10 palettes, I decluttered five palettes that I curated with shadows I didn’t use and now I use the other five all the time. I have purchased a few more Colourpop palettes but I find purchasing their affordable colour stories inspire me and help me realise what I like and what I want to invest in and I always do my research before buying a palette so I don’t buy the same shadows since the brand dupes itself a lot.

I did the all in thing with Sydney Grace and have major regrets. While the shadows are good, they're kinda mostly basic in finish, at least compared to other indie brands.

My menagerie magenic palette also fell apart immediately! Hopefully this is something the brand will fix. I really like the iridescent duochromes I have from them, but their matte formula isn't my favorite. I don't think it's bad, but I could live without them.

Apparently we need to customize our CT packaging to make it work...I had to scrub off all the red lettering from the flawless filter with alcohol so red flakes wouldn't get on my face anymore, and I've pulled off all the sponges on the tips of my wands so it's just a little hole opening like any other cream/liquid product.

It would be super cool if all cosmetics companies would start making larger palettes "adjustable" like Natasha Denona does & offer an empty five pan palette to be sold with the larger one. That way we can make a smaller palette for travel or like you said, "vanity" friendly. You are definitely on to something here!! Love that concept.❤

Love the idea for this video! It's videos like this that keep your content so interesting to me personally. I have no interest in purchasing anything from Charlotte Tilbury (for example) but the way you discuss why you bought certain things and how those feelings & thought processes have/haven't changed over time is the sort of mindful consumerism I'm trying to participate in, as well. Loved this video so much! I often feel as you do-that I may not love a purchase but it’s not a regret because I knew I really wanted to try it and I’m glad I did, even if the results weren’t what I’d hoped. I think that’s a great perspective, because I learn something about my preferences and it keeps me from being upset with myself for a purchase. I really appreciate your transparency in this video: why you purchase things as an investment to your channel, what you still like, what you regret, and your overall thoughts. I wish more channels would do this. They hype up a product in one video, and it's rarely seen again on their channel. I think it's a shame because a lot of regular makeup wearers do purchase hyped up things when, for them, it's not an investment, and it may end up being wasted money.

I didn't have a lot of makeup for a long time. For most of my life drugstore was what was accessible & tbh drugstore eyeshadow was never very good beyond a basic matte neutral quad or duo. So that's what I owned. Foundation started making my skin look worse so I stopped wearing it in my 30s. To say I was basic would be an understatement. ( Mascara, loose powder, blush, a neutral matte eyeshadow, tinted lip balm, same neutral matte eyeshadow in brows) But eventually I found YT & makeup tutorials & makeup reviews & got caught up in wanting to try everything ( I had the money so why not?) I went a little crazy end of 2017 beginning of 2018 & bought soooooo much. Most of the makeup I own is from that time, at least what I didn't declutter. What I ended up decluttering opened my eyes & I slowed way down on purchasing & was more honest with myself about what I actually use & how often. As my collection ages out (expires) I will be very selective about what I replace. Do I really need a purple blush? probably not. And if I need a purple cheek color for Halloween I can always use an eyeshadow. Singles work best for me or small, curated palettes I can mix & match.

I haven't picked up any menagerie yet since I haven't been 100% in love with a palette yet. They are doing a new indigo ink version of the one you have and I'm looking forward to seeing the inside. The other indie brand I want to try but haven't made a decision on yet is glamlite. I don't have a pastel palette and I'm still debating over BH lost on los Angeles or the glamlite ice cream palette. I definitely end up buying more random sh!t I don't really need to get free shipping. I didn't really do a big black Friday haul last year, but something I got that I look forward to getting again is the first aid beauty ultra repair cream from Sephora. They have had an 8oz tube on special for $15 (regular price $42) for the last two black Fridays. I have since gotten my husband and parents hooked on using it too, so I will stock up if they have that deal again.

Pretty much all the lettering on my flawless filter has come off all over my hands. It’s a beautiful product but I’m trying to use it up. I’d probably try Auric instead next for me

Hi Lauren , from the start of the year i have bought my products from a brand so i have a full face of a certain brand i love , that is complexion products, and very happy as its changed the longevity’ of my products , so yes happy i have three full faces of complexion products , dior , estee lauder , charlotte Tilbury , results are fabulous.

lauren, i know you mentioned in a recent video you were interested in some neutral ss shadows from colourpop, and if you love shadows that give you that wet look i DEFINITELY recommend frog! it's basically just translucent with wet looking shimmer, so great as a topper but i also sometimes wear it on it's own on super simple makeup days to amp things up a little. i also love party of five! it's a reddish-neutral wash of colour type shadow with a really subtle duochrome. super pretty as a one shadow.

Hi Lauren, ND doesn't ship to where I live. Do you think the green brown is palette is really worth it? 🤔 I'd love to see how you use these on in your everyday life. Are there some one and done shades in the palette? Is it hooded eye friendly? Does it transfer to the upper lid a lot or does glitter glue help? How glittery are the shades? We don't have Sephora, so 🤷 😔 online pics are all I can go by. Are they really worth it?

I pop the sponge tips off of those concealers w/ sponge tips. Then it's just like a lil straw that you can dispense product out of. Learned that from the girls over at Beauty News when they were doing a makeup breakup ep once. It's been a game changer. Might be helpful for a product that is too thick for a sponge as you said yours was. Also, less waste from product drying up in that damn sponge. If only I could figure out a way to do the same w/ brush tips.... Razor the hairs off? Idk. (That's what she said)
