As someone who has lost both of their parents, thank you for being open and taking about your dad. My mom's birthday is coming up and my childhood best friend and I both celebrate that day as "Kay Day" even though we live hundreds of miles apart. (My mom's name was Kay). You are amazing and your dad would be so proud of who you've become.

Thank you for sharing your memories of your Dad with us ❤️ He was clearly an amazing guy and I’ve no doubt he’s still always with you in everything you do ❤️ I agree that it’s so important to talk rather than bottling things up. My grandfather's younger brother passed away from a brain tumor when my grandfather was 14 and even when he was in his 90s he said he remembered him everyday. I am now going through the same thing as my grandfather and knowing that that strength exists in other people is so important.

My Dad died when I was 16 after a two year battle with terminal cancer. It has been 27 years now and your words about your Dad where so touching and made me think about my Dad. I still think about him almost every day, still cherish my memories, like him trying to teach me Latin when I asked him to, him reading the Narnia books to me when I was under 10, him being the backbone that allowed me to developed in my sport (show jumping) and made what is an expensive, difficult often heartbreaking sport possible. It was very hard as I developed to not have him there to see the results of the work he enabled but I do believe he was with me. When my children were born I felt him with me, through everything since including my progressive genetic condition no leaving me unable to work, be safe around horses and in an electric wheelchair I feel him with me. He is always with me, cheering me on, helping me through the hard times with is never ending support and quick witted dark humour. I know how it feels, it is not what we would have wanted but this was our reality and new normal and we learn to live in it with love.

Hard to believe it's been ten years. Your Dad was blooming FAB-U-LOUS!! I've watched that documentary so many times and the bursting into the press conference makes me cry every time. May goodness how proud he would be of the man you have become. 💕💕 I lost my Dad seven years ago, so feel your pain. I bottled it up because I had my mum to look after. It's only been this last year in lockdown that I've had time to process it myself.

Lost my mom back in May 2015. She and my dad were celebrating their wedding anniversary in UK where she was born. This year would have been 51 years married. They married really young as she was in her teens at the time. She went out for a walk in the morning before breakfast as she loved walking but unfortunately never returned as she had fallen into a ravine. Something I struggle with every day losing her. Miss her tons. ♥️ Helps to even just write alittle about it here. Thanks for sharing about your dad, Tom.
