He was one of my academic heroes during my undergraduate. I am not Muslim, but I have Muslim people in my family. Your father’s work is very much appreciated, especially for immigrant children like myself, also.

As an Iranian, I share with you the sadness of not having Edward... He was an example of a moral elevation, logic, emotion and a very loving face that will never die... He is alive and our big brother in the Middle East.. We need you now more than ever before Edward...😢 Stand up please.

I just realized almost all the videos I have watched from Palestine and people who talk about that region seems they are here at the present time . The difficult time that both people from Israel and Palestine are facing now 😢 and as a result of it , any human being around the globe is feeling it .This shows the on going trauma of Palestinian which I were not aware of it . These videos are from four , five and even ten fifteen years ago . Wow . Very sad ! 😢😢😢😢 Edward Said was a great Human being , scholar , teacher and role model .Our world needs man like him desperately !!

I'm a San Franciscan, a Californian, an Arkansan, a Cherokee, a Cornishman, English, and a creative artist, a serious high art classical musician with an international reputation, a Great Ape sapiens who has boycotted Israel all of my life because I believed that Nazism was not very clever or good. I'm a Paineitte, not an atheist but a Born Again Atheist. Our species is a failed species. We have single-handedly created Global Heating Climate Emergency and we are rushing through the door into extinction at only 200,000 years of existence. I've boycotted Israel all of my life but my country is the world, my religion is to do good. I have deep reverence for life. Who gives a $#!+ ? Enjoy life and imagine Gaza.

I wonder whether it would have made a difference if a good-looking and pragmatic Palestinian like E. Said had been the leader of his god-forsaken people? With Arafat and his PLO, and an ineffectual President like Abbas the people never had a chance - now Hamas has turned the lives of the 'homeless' and hopeless internees of Gaza into an unimaginable nightmare - how could this have been allowed to happen? To quote Milton 'and did God look on and wouldn't interfere?'. E. Said must be shedding rivers of tears for his people in heaven...

I totally agree. Hanan Ashrawi would have been an excellent spokesperson for the Palestinians. An articulate woman with perfect English and a sharp mind. But she was sidelined to make way for the men in suits.
