Geez Lamont, my son went to Med School in Philly..I’ve seen plenty of their streets & some crazy people there, & some other things. Nuts!! Our Uhaul got broke into & robbed the first night we moved our son there. Thank God his Med classes were held in a beautiful part of the city (by the Rocky statue..) In his 2nd yr., I gave him my new Jeep with 600 miles on it so he wouldn’t break down somewhere & get mugged or killed. His own car was a piece of junk. Doing that saved his life. I’m sure of that, but it’s to long to text here to explain. He graduated in 2010, at age 25. (He still found time to be in 3 or 4 bands as lead guitarist & is now a MD in LA.) Never so happy to get him out of Philly finally!!!! Yeah…now he’s in LA with all their crime!!😂 Only got his tire slashed once. Lucky.

I'm sure there are beautiful headstones in that overgrown cemetery. There seems to be several celebrities buried there. Hopefully it will get cleaned up and you'll be able to go back and find the Barrymore graves. If Drew knew about this she'd be appalled that her family graves are in disarray.

I live right near/above Philly. It's nice to know you are nearby remembering someone special that I didn't even know was buried in this area. I really appreciate that you are making people aware of these forgotten resting places and people. It is really honorable. I will have to keep an eye out on what is going on with this cemetery. Usually we are very good about maintaining our history in this area. Most people know Drew Barrymore his granddaughter. I never realized Drew Barrymore was named after two famous acting families. I will have to come pay my respects to them. If you are still in the area the summer home of William Penn is having it's second night of Holly night tonight. My husband is Father Christmas or Father Noel there. It is an amazing living history sort of museum and working farm. There also is a lot of local Native American leni la nape customs still held in this area also. William Penn didn't drive out the Natives. There are a lot of cool still active Quaker netting houses that our centuries old including their cemeteries. If you like a little bit later history there is a massive amount of Revolutionary war history around here too.

Mount Moriah in Philly was in the same shape. A hardworking group of volunteers is slowly bringing it back little by little and their efforts are making the cemetery beautiful again. I hope this cemetery can be restored, those buried there deserve better. ❤

John's brother Lionel was the actor I loved the most. Lionel Barrymore was Old man Potter in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE & the grandpa in my favorite old fantasy movie ON BORROWED TIME where he tricks death up a tree to protect his grandson from a greedy aunt trying to rob his inheritance. I hope someone in that community goes in with an organized group of kind souls to clean that place up! They'll need a tree chipper to reduce the mess to sawdust..

I started following Lamont and Mobile Instinct around the same time and was surprised that first time Lamont showed up in one of Mobile Instinct’s videos. Their collaborations are always good because we get the best of both of them at the same time. The Ford’s Theatre video is still my favorite. The cemetery in this video while looking for John Barrymore is astounding to see, most times when I see these videos of overgrown forgotten cemeteries it is deplorable they are left in such untidy condition but this one with those towering monuments rising above nature is awesome to see with the monuments refusing to let us forget just who is still there.

The level of neglect of this beautiful cemetary is very sad, although I've seen worse. The thing with this appears to require nothing more than cutting and trimming all the growing bushes and vines from covering up the graves. Lamont, googling the grave of John Barrymore it appears the marker is of the type that is a plaque lying flat upon the ground. Without a map of the cemetery and a plot number I feel you and Mobile Instinct sadly never stood a chance of locating it amongst that incredible overgrowth and neglect. It would be great if you could keep us updated on what happens to this cemetery in the future. Perhaps your video will help spur some action. Thanks for all you do!

Another great video Lamont, you are in my neighborhood. I have been to Mount Vernon and it is quite shocking to see what condition that place is in. While in town, stop by Ivy Hill and visit the grave of the "Boy in the Box." A 60 year+ homicide case that has just been closed.

John Barrymore was perhaps the best Shakespearean actor of the last century. He began on the stage, and there is very little, if any, to see of his stage work on film. Thank goodness we have his silent and sound film career to watch again and again. With his sister Ethel and his brother Lionel, the Barrymores are renowned in Hollywood history, coming from, as you said, their illustrious acting family. It’s disgraceful that John Barrymore and his parents’ resting places are lost in this neglected cemetery. I hope your video brings awareness and action as soon as possible!

That is so sad people intrust their bodys and graves to be looked after after death. Thats why id never get buried. You are rembered in death but get forgotten after it. I hope they clean this place up its a disgrace to that city. For getting who came before them. Thank you Lamont for this video, but I am sad at the conditions of the cemetery, the story about Errol Flynn was true, Errol did that when he lived on Mulholland Drive, John Barrymore was friends with my grandparents in the 1930’s they used to go out on Johns yacht. The Barrymore’s have a lot of history in old Hollywood.
