@@debbiebrown4420 We had a fella like that in my town. He had a gang of thugs and he would go around beating people up, he sold drugs, traded women and stole all the guns, jewelry, pills and electronics he could carry off. He would beat up his elderly stepdad and take his social security money. One day his stepdad had enough and he shot him in the chest with a 22 pistol. This happened in town and he was alive walking around when ems got there. They made sure to take their time getting him to the hospital so the four minute ride took 45 minutes and he was dead when they got there. The band of thugs made threats to the old man who shot him so he spent some time in protective custody until he was relocated but he never served a day. Rumor has it that the sign outside of Skidmore reads, "Welcome to Skidmore, the home of the largest pool table on earth." I think EVERYONE was under the pool table, so it had to be a mammoth sized thing. Ken Rex was not murdered. He was stopped by SOMEONE after the law refused for years to stop him, and to that someone I would only say, "Good job!" You know you are a bad dude when a dozen or more people see someone put an end to you and NO ONE is willing to say a word. When this happened, I think maybe the state police and even the FBI went to Skidmore because they were going to show those small-town Barney Fifes how a REAL lawman conducts an interrogation. To their chagrin, they got nowhere! For years Ken Rex had threated to take the life of anyone whose testimony sent him to prison, and he was not prosecuted because everyone was afraid to testify against him. The town had FINALLY got some people who were brave enough to testify against him and as a result he was found guilty and was supposed to be going off to prison for a decade or so, but his lawyer filed an appeal and even got him freed while the appeal worked its way through the courts. He was found guilty of attempted murder and to the stunned disbelief of the townspeople who had been present at the trial, he made it back to town before they did. The townspeople felt they had no other option. They TRIED to do things the legal way but thanks to Ken Rex's shyster lawyer he ALWAYS got away with whatever he did. Of course, his lawyer is upset at what happened to Ken Rex. KR was probably 90 percent of his business and Ken Rex never had any trouble paying the lawyer because if he was running a little short, he would just go steal something else and sell it for whatever he could get for it. Allegedly, once he even had the audacity to steal a man's hogs one night and then show up bright and early the next morning and offer to sell the man HIS OWN HOGS back! Back when this happened my husband said of Ken Rex, "He was extremely dangerous because he was evil enough to think of the most heinous things to do and he was stupid enough to go ahead and do them." I think that pretty much sums up Ken Rex.

I can vividly remember when this murder happened. I was 12 years old when I saw it on the nightly news in 1981...back when we only had three major networks in the U.S. for news. I've always been fascinated with the fact that Skidmore folks have kept quiet all these years. For there to be up to 60 witnesses of a murder at 11 a.m. on a Friday morning, and nobody claim to have seen anything, shows how desperate these people were for justice they had sought for so long. I got a nice laugh on the 20th anniversary when former marshal David Dunbar was asked in an interview for his thoughts about the murder. He said, "It’s really a shame about the Silverado. That was a really nice truck." Ha!

This man that you are in such defense about killed in many, many ways hundreds of people even though he left their bodies alive. I think many people feel that your approach is teaching a generation of children that we are to bend over and let evil rule. That no one counts but the predator/abuser. I was 'just saying' too, never thought ill of your words, just some "hardcore truth" is all. Only God can see the heart, and truly God expects us to repent, to cleanse ourselves, like I said, even if.. *"The heart of Man is wicked, who can know it?"* Much love Scripture says that the saved will be surprised who is in Heaven, I can only hope the guy went out *shining* too! ~Aryeh Atreyu of Gad

They were law-abiding people. They gave the law every possible chance to do the right thing, but the law was designed to protect psychopaths because it is designed to protect power, and bullies/psychopaths tend to grab power. Once they realized the law was against them, they did what they had to do. The law left them no choice, if they wanted to survive.
