I have lived near Assateague since I was a kid and thought it was just normal to have horses at the beach. 😊 It was so nice to see you all so excited and being so respectful to the island and its inhabitants.

My friend and I just came from Assateague and Chincoteague Islands on 9/24/2022. We got lucky and saw a group of 5 horses up close. The horses are majestic. However, 13 wild horses, including quality beach time is epic! What a wonderful experience. Thanks so much for sharing your day with us. I genuinely enjoyed watching this video. 🐎💕🐴

Assateague is amazing, glad you got to experience it. I recommend you try the kayak rentals from the same place that sells the ice cream to get away from the crowd. Next time you visit, stop in nearby Berlin, MD. It's a quaint old town with restaurants & shops, they received several travel awards including "Coolest Small Town in America" this year. Now that I've watched several of your videos (and subbed!) I think you'd both enjoy it quite a bit. We usually watch ponies after an early breakfast, then stop in Berlin on the way back to our place in OC to eat and shop. If you're REALLY adventurous you should see if you can rent a 4x4 to get out on the OSV (Over Sand Vehicle) area. It's a great all day activity. We usually drive down the beach as far as we can, then pick a spot to setup on the beach, we bring a small hibachi grill with charcoal and food to cook for lunch, & dinner, then before sunset we make a campfire and watch the stars. Assateage gets very dark (Bortle Class 2-3 levels of dark skies) to view the stars in the sky because it's far from the lights of Ocean City. If you're really lucky, you can time visits with rocket launches down south from Wallops, VA. If you need tips or places to stay let us know! :)

Assateague is one of the most underrated places here in Maryland tbh. Quite a nice contrast from the overdeveloped and touristy Ocean City.

When I vacationed there. There were big dunes that separated the beach from the parking lot area. And there were pathways that visitors and the pony's used .😊😊😊❤❤

Excellent video. We went here the last 2 October(s) when we were at Rehoboth Beach. It was a great time and not many people about. The neat thing about October is ...it is cooler and there are no lines anywhere. 👍

A visitor went to see the horses a couple of years ago and had been warned NOT TO TOUCH THE WILD ANIMALS. She didn't listen. She gave a baby pony an apple, and the baby died right in front of them. Wild life determined that the baby CHOKED FROM THE APPLE.... ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!

Hi! We loved your video, especially since we heard about the island on the radio and wanted to take a trip there. Being from out of state, but will be driving from VA, what address would you put in specifically to see the horses on the beach? I have been trying to do my own research, but without being from either VA or MD, its been hard to figure out how to get to there. Someone said you will only see horses on the beaches on the MD side, not the VA side- does anyone know if that’s true? I figured they’d be out and about, but just have no idea where we should drive to.

So since all horses have ancestors that were domesticated by humans at some point in time, that means there’s actually no such thing as a “wild horse”, they would be referred to as “feral horses” you can only be a “wild” animal if your ancestors we’re never domesticated.
