Looks like you need to get your whole air intake situation sorted out too, plus the usual fun of new battery & new tires. How much do you usually go through these? At this age, especially with unknown history is think you'd almost need an entire rewiring, rebuild brake cylinders, replace brake lines, new oil in like 5 different places, grease in 3 or 4 more, probably even have to change the blinker fluid. Definitely long overdue for a fresh coating of bug guts on the front of the bike. Heh heh

Yeah, I will need to go through the air intake situation, new tires, and battery as you pointed out. Typically, when I go through a bike I go through it to make sure it is safe, but I don't do a complete tear down. For example. I will see if I can get it to run. Then, I will check the tires, axle nuts, fork trees, brakes, and throttle setup to see if it is safe. I will also check/fix the lights/blinkers as well. I try to do what I can. 99% of the time I replace the solenoids as well because they go bad all the time when I get these bikes. I don't try to do a full rebuild on them because, to tell you the truth, I don't know that I have the aptitude and tools needed, but I will be attempting it this winter with the bobber engine ;)

I also need to find out how you're getting a bike plus a parts bike for $150. Is it all about where you find the deals, or are you just that good of a haggler?

I have found that around me, people HATE Viragos or old Yamahas in general. They just want them out of their barns and yards. Especially the Gen 1 Viragos because of the notorious starter issues. Also, I get them for so cheap because, most times, they do not have titles so I haggle and tell them that I will give them scrap rate and haul them off of their property ;)
