Looking Through My Cursed Old Art and Cringing | Digital Art

Just going to make a quick comment here. During my disclaimer, I should have stated clearly that I don't want anyone complimenting my old art or fawning over it, nor do I want anyone shitting on their own work in the comments. I thought the writing would be on the wall with what I said in my disclaimer, but I've noticed a couple of comments that are self-deprecating or make me uncomfortable because they are complimenting old art that I no longer stand by. I can't change anyone's opinion or anything, but I ask you to keep negative self talk or compliments (that aren't about my current work or progress) to yourself. You see, art is very subjective, and my art is more about progress and improvement than technical skill to me. So, to compliment my old art and call it "good" makes me feel shitty, as if my progress and years of work don't matter to anyone.

@@ChaosGamer123 I mean like, I never said that my old art is irredeemable or is never good, I just don't want to hear people comment on how great my it is for personal reasons (mostly that it makes me feel uncomfortable and poorly). Not hating at all here, I just think you're missing my point that I detailed in the above comment. You can like my old art all you want, idrc, I just don't want to hear about it or to have people compare my old art to theirs and feel bad or self-deprecate.

Yeah I remember that one video you made about how you felt uncomfortable when less experienced artists say those exact things, and I wondered why you didn't mention it. If I hadn't seen that video though, I wouldn't have thought "the writing's on the wall" or automatically known that you get uncomfortable from those things. That'd be like expecting us to read your mind. Most people don't have the ability to correctly guess what your boundaries are if you haven't stated them directly somewhere they've seen it. /not mad just trying to help

ok i have a lot to say first tho i LOVE how you put the pale king in a maid outfit he looks so beautiful second i love you old art it helps me realize everyone starts somewhere and the lost kin fight is so hard and the art you did for them is one of my favorites and lastly i would love to see redraws of the pictures like the meline Martinez one love your work your a huge inspo and what has helped with my art block keep it up king!

I actually follow your hollow knight content because i am a huge fan of hollow knight, going to be making an hollow knight AU that has the characters of a comic i am working on for the fun of it, though i sorta suck at drawing hollow knight bug anatomy so i need some practice lol

I love roasting my own old art too, it's funny to look back on and be proud of how far I've come. When I first attempted digital art I was 18 but my art skill made it look like I was 12. Now I'm 26 and I still have trouble drawing arm anatomy (hot take: arms are harder than hands!) but in general I think I'm doing alright. What helped me was watching speedpaints and streams by artists whose different styles I liked and learning from them, so now I've developed an art style that's kinda like a combination of all those artists but more. People have described my style as unique, diverse/variable but recognisable, and sometimes soft, and I'm quite happy with that :3

Oh right, please don't compare or relate my work to HH or HB please, just for personal reasons! I spoke about my thoughts on HB in lots of detail during a stream a while back (I think it was Chill Art Stream 8 starting at about an hour in) if you want a full explanation as to why I dislike HB and why I don't want to hear about/be associated with Vivienne Medrano anymore. :]

What do you mean by 'Would wear if I was cis' I know you're a man but you can still wear it . Clothes don't have a gender , it's just more expected that more fem clothes are for fems and masc clothes are for mascs but that's just a stereotype . I you wanna wear it , you have my support 👏

Lots of reasons. Hazbin, I have less thoughts about due to the fact it's not even out yet, but HB is something I dislike mostly due to the poor writing, poor character arcs that don't stick, poor structure, and the anti-feminist and misogynistic jokes that fly out of the main characters' mouths every, like, two seconds. I actually made a whole stream where I complained about it for like two hours. I plan on making a pretty long video about it, too, to discuss my criticisms, because they go a lot deeper and there are a lot more than I even just listed. Tbh, don't care if people in my community like HB or HH, I would just prefer people not bring it up to me or compare me or my art to it for personal reasons.
