Excellent filming by Jack! Always good to see the younger generations learning and asking inquisitive questions! Can’t wait for the next instalment of finding a new blaster! Ps that one looked like it had been dropped whilst being moved on a site hence the random damage and condition. (I don’t know for sure but looks that way)

Hi mick, Just my two pennth worth here of my own experience: Many years ago I worked for a chap called Dennis gosling from Cleckheaton blast cleaning like you. I decided to go my way and setup myself in wakefield my first compressor was an old atlas 250cmf use to tow it round with my van I moved up the ladder and bought a Ingersoll rand 375cfm compressor only problem was it was way too heavy for the transit van ... By this time I has a yard which I did blasting at and in the corner another very large Chicago 750cmf compressor this was the daddy for blasting with it only on tick over and used less fuel than the 375cfm 6 cylinder Ingersoll rand . I always thought that anything under 300cfm was working very hard to keep up on the job .. Anyway good luck in finding yourself a better compressor mick .

Yeah, my van is maxed out at 2.2 tonne tow capacity. Unfortunately I can only stretch a 260cfm, maybe if I swapped vans, I could up the size but as it stands, I have to stick with that.

Hey Mick what fun vlog to watching with you and your son going to looking to the auction. I few years ago my compressor broke down but it was still under warranty so i sold it to company where I got it from and then i bought an Atlas Copco and since then i don't have any problem with it so far maybe you schould take an look by an Dealer over there maybe you can trade your old compressor in and pay an small amount each month for it buying an second hand one can be risky always unless you buying from someone who toke care of it. Plus to postive thing if buying new one you have still warranty or if dealer has an second hand you getting still warranty on it then.
@Mobileblaster

It's nice to be able to afford to do that. I prefer to buy things outright so I don't have the pressures of paying monthly for my equipment.
@Moh4n95
@Moh4n95 2 жыл бұрын
🤔 Mick i don't how much your compressor is worth but you can inform yourself at a dealer and they will tell you how much is how brand new compressor or demo model or even an second hand model is from the dealer the plus thing about it will have still warranty maybe giving you a good price when trading your old compressor in for a new one you buying over there and buy for a good price and for example you need doing an payment from £200 a month and your compressor and let's say its paid 3-4 years. £200 won't break the bank it all depends on what kind how powerfull compressor you need. My advice to you let your inform yourself by few dealers or try to find an second hand compressor that looked after an good maintain. Keep making that awesome blasting videos 🔥🔥🔥 i am sure you will find a good solution take care yourself and your family Mick greetings from Mohan out Belgium 🇧🇪

@@Moh4n95 I know ya logic and reasoning. I really don't have any monthly bills I like to know bit of a backup really that if something did happen and I got put out of work for say 1 or 2 months hopefully by this point I would have found a different way of serving no over heads (monthly bills) means I can possibly last this long without an income. It's the only way I can really deal with the stress of owning and operating a small business.

A lot of the big hire companies have framework contracts with utility providers like Yorkshire water - United utilities etc and they will have to have certain machines on the fleet as per the contract, some will never leave the yard. as it’s got a fitted drip tray I would say it’s been used on clean water contracts ie reservoirs so no contamination can occur the hours will be genuine

@globalobserver8934

Very interesting Mick. A lot of gear in that yard ! As you run a business is there a way to have a new machine on a hire contract that might work out economic over the year with full knowledge it will have repairs and service included, much like businesses hire cars over a fixed period like 3 years then get another new one. Work out your day rate, like you do for everything else including a contract machine and you will never have any more machine worries, right ? Shame you cant get a hire company to sponsor you with a machine decked out in advertising .
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm old school. I like to own my equipment outright, that way I know that if I have a bad month, I don't have to stress way too much as I don't have massive overheads. I would only take a sponsor deal or promote something if I truly believe or have extensive hours using it and I actually like and believe deep down that others would benefit. I did not start this channel to make money from it, I had different goals :) I was approached by a company to use their product but I can safely say I wouldn't use it and I would find it hard to put it to work.I also told them about a better product available but they wouldn't like what I had to say about it, lol. I have approached doosan to see if they would like to make deal but they declined. There is also a company selling a £500 add on part I really want to test out because I know its going to be pure crap and ive used something similar in the past and that was crap too, so I want to prove the sales pitch its sold with is bollocks, haha. 1 thing is for sure, this channel is and always will be free, valuable content. I only accept KZbin ads as they would show the ads anyway so it would be daft not to.

That's the root I really didn't want to go down as their is many ways to do the job and what works for me someone els may try and it may not work for them If people can take anything from the videos then that's all fine and good but I don't take any responsibility as alot of factors play a part in blasting no set media or psi for any set job.

That’s been shunted from the rear or backed into something solid Mick. I’m guessing the tow hitch was bent on impact and they put a second hand one on as a replacement. Hence why it looks out of place hours wise. It might be an insurance write off

I think the answer to what happened to this air compressor is --- The machine was purchased new by some company, it probably does have 94 hours, I can't tell from the video, the wear on the tires are the likely clue. While owned by some company this compressor was involved in a motor vehicle accident, the compressor got hit by something, the insurance company (I really hate insurance companies) offered the company some settlement, who knows what happened, the company decided they wanted a NEW compressor instead of repairing this compressor. So, either the insurance company/adjustor or the original company sent this compressor to auction.

Its an ex GAP machine , it might have been on a site as standby and only used as a certain task or when needed but deployed in a customer depot Hour clocks can be changed ... years ago you could reset them back to zero If it was under warranty with a problem I am sure it would have gone back to Doosan for repairs Think its been damaged fuel tank leak and hence why the belly tank gasket has perished soaked in fuel maybe a new tank / repair and wheel arch bodged up Even seen fuel tanks drilled on plant for theft there not bothered about the mess they leave behind I remember some models of compressor you had to open end for them to start and they close them off when running , think some plant safety for air flow safety cut off if a hose went when in operation ... years ago when I did plant hire Seen brand new machines wrecked within hours on site ..... its not the hire they make the money ... its the chargeable damages when it comes back It might have made its money on site / had a repair claim / have no value on the computer and surplus to requirements so get some funds back in as people buy these items for long term use You can buy a lot of Sthill saws with that compressor money and make twice as much revenue if not more remember seeing a £80 110v. site transformer make £16k. over its live span before been shipped to auction in a bundle lot Some hire partnerships come to an end with manufactures. maybe a bad experience or accident and they just get rid of the whole fleet its even down to change in owner The HSS. / Speedy. deal many years ago. how much money was wasted and lost and nearly crippled Speedy as what they thought they had valued and bought wasn't what they actually got HSS spent millions on brilliant computer system that worked and was was fit for purpose ..... Speedy said no and had a Linux program as they wouldn't buy Microsoft software CRAZY ! Its only at an auction for a reason They don't want it no more as they cannot make money from it

Nice video guys , i’ve learn few things about what I should look after if I will decide to buy a compressor and get in to sandblasting business. However, i think the towing system telling the truth of the REAL HOURS , if it was 94hr should be no reason like someone to change any filters , there for I think they’ve changed the engine oil to give more confidence of that 94hr and when they’ve change it they’ve spilled oil in to chassis . ( just my personal opinion) . Just curious: where you buy the helmet and your kit from ? What brand they are ? Thank you for video again 🙏

Being me, I'd be looking for an older toughie that's been chopped in across the block as it's too scruffy for a Posh firm - but has the good stuff inside. Covers can be repaired & repainted easily, you can fix the mechanicals, fit new wheels, blah blah. The new-ish Doosan probably has some dopey electrical fault that nobody could be bothered tracking down - them Cummins engines are good motors & you know the Doosan air-side gear already Mick, so should be fixable - especially with the warranty still having some time left - bigger firms will chop a machine in instead of dealing with the hassle. The savings in doing the "hassle" bit. :-)

It is an head scratcher but i think it may be an insurance loss, hence it being in the auction and not already fixed under warranty as any claim would void the warranty.

That machine looks like it's been flipped over on its side .. I also don't trust hire plants on hours.. if you can find the hire company that's selling give them a call about the machine ... some will be honest with you why it's being sold.

I was actually thinking of giving them a call and asking them why it was up for sale but it had too many problems with it for me.
