Hi mick I feel your pain, when I started up on my own mobile sandblasting over 30 years ago this is exactly what happened to me. I too could only afford second hand compressors and I quickly learned that you will never find a second hand machine that will be any good for long term sandblasting. These ex hire machines have already had a hard life and then we’re trying to make them work even harder. in the end I had to bite the bullet and buy a brand new one, it’s the only way you’ll ever progress. Since I started buying new I’ve literally never had a single days trouble, I service them religiously and keep them spotless at all times. My first new machine lasted me nearly 14 years. Another top tip is keep away from doosan compressors they are not up to the job. Buy atlas Copco and you’ll never look back. As I say mate I’ve been at it for over 30 years so I feel your pain. Good luck and don’t give up👍

I’ve also bought a couple of Atlas Copco machines from Jeff at Compressed Air Plant at North Witham. He’s a sound bloke and his machines are usually very good. He’ll take yours in px. Tell him you want an Atlas with decent low hours on it mate. And if you do have any problems he’s always there afterwards, and he will help you out.

Any ex a plant compressor I have ever bought or viewed have always had problems, I think they only sell them when they are giving trouble. Even a 7-51 that I once bought, gave it a very good looking at before and thought I had found a good one, the rear canopy had been off recently and the oil cooler was weeping. That day I learned, never again buy an ex a plant machine 😂. I hope yours is a cheap simple fix!

They usually lack maintenance. A good service ( fresh everything ) and some cleaning makes them run reliable again 99% of the time. The machine saves itself by throwing codes.

Yeah tar and glue remover only works to remove the residue that's normally left over you still have to peel the sticker off. This hi vis stuff is pot luck sometimes it will peel off fine and others just snaps in small peaces even with heat / steam to aid its removal

mick -- did some googling pal, looked at the doosan 7/120 -- i mean im limited on the info about your machine but heres what it says below. COMPRESSOR CODE 29 Explanation: The engine has shut down and the WEDGE did not detect a fault code from the engine ECM. Effect: Code 29 is a SHUTDOWN condition and will stop the machine. The Compressor Malfunction light will be on solid, and Code 29 will be displayed. Engine SHUTDOWN: Reason Unknown Troubleshooting Steps Action Result Step 1: Check fuse F2. Replace fuses as needed Step 2: Check engine fuel system for restrictions. Dirty fuel filters Clogged Hoses Air in fuel system Step 3: Verify battery + and - connections to the engine ECM. Repair harness as needed Step 4: Verify KEYSWITCH signal (24 VDC) connection from WEDGE to engine ECM. since finding and fixing the issue it runs nice I have a problem with the filter drawing air new filter new housing and it still dose it drop the pickup pipe into the tank bypassing the 1st filter and its fine I could have a small hole in the pipe from the 1st filter to the second or the elbow fixings have a fault. But when its running nice I can run a 850 nozzle good for 320 cfm and the unit isn't near full revs running 2x pots with 650s 2x 230cfm and she runs flat out producing 85/90psi each I'm sure its hitting close or around than plated cfm. seems a good strong unit now I've sorted that well kind of fixed it haha

Hi Mick, Sorry to hear the new to you compressor is giving you trouble already, maybe it just needs a full service, but anyway here's a trick for all those pesky stickers just pour on boiling water and they peel off like they were put on yesterday unless they are already full of cracks, anyway here's hoping you can get it fixed. Cheers from DownUnder

I've just gave it a 1000 hour service that's the big expensive one haha every filter and oil but at least I can eliminate that now I need to test it under load but it's ran for over an hour today without issues since it's service.👍 oh them style hivis stickers just snap I've tried using a wall paper steamer with just the pipe and they don't peel real pain in the arse haha my brother has a body shop and he paints alot of delivery vans and has to remove stickers on the daily he told me the wall paper steamer tip it is normally brill with any stickers but these hivis stuff really are a pain well not for a proper working compressor they don't normally cause a problem on a good day 😂 it's your summer down their? It's our winter and we have a cold snap on it's way 🥶 this day it was windy and cold it put me in a real good mood when I got wet with the jetwashing and knowing my new to me compressor was broken haha😂 it was a long day

@shropshireconcrete first thing I would check when was the last service? Then follow the derv pipes do they look suspect? Then check the pickup pipe in the tank its got a filler on the end Then run clean derv from a clean tank and clean pipe straight to the injector pump no filters new pipe if its still got an issue the pump has a last in line filler but they ain't cheap if it's none of them then unlucky for you it's eva a diesel pump (high pressure pump) or injectors.

@@SuperArmpower please see previous video I ran this compressor up for 1 hour and 20mins on full demand at the auction then again a few weeks later then this job was the following day I picked up the compressor I didn't have time to service or even give it a good going over I've since today gave it a 1000 hour service that's every filter and all the fluids. I found they had a secondary fuel filter as a primary since the service I've had it running for aprox 1 hour again and its seams fine I haven't be able to put it under load until tomorrow on another job! I cannot run the blaster in my yard I get too many complaints. I do edit alot out I never start anything plant wise and put it under full demand I let it warm up for 10 15mins before asking for service air etc but the videos would be fairly boring watching a compressor warm up for 10 15 mins? I'm open to constructive criticism but I don't really get your point please advise.

I'd imagine jet washing prior sale was used and water and electrics always a recipe for bad and intermittent connections. Again if diesel bug has occurred it can be very problematic resolving when its gone past the filters and I imagine hire plant is abused and not looked after by default. There seems to be an absolute mind field and very dark area in Ireland.i I feel a little more training is needed other than What my uncle has provided. but in his words it has done him okay for 20 years 🤷.
