Happy people (my grandparents on both sides) don't really struggle until their 80's, and sometimes not even then. I am 22 and somehow many older people assume that young people can't have a difficult life and that our life is all perfect ( not ). Like I have difficulty toxic home situation with no emotional support and with no love and I have autism in combination with severe executive functions problems which makes my life way more difficult than a neurorpical person with no executive functions problems. I started training in muay thai, and thankfully, everyone was very welcoming and I met other ladies who went through similar experiences. Not as scared as I used to be anymore but now I try to deepen my voice when I'm a place where I need to give off a more authoritative vibe. Ex: doctors, dentists, dmv, banks

One local Latino bus driver man on 3 separate occasions tried to "son" me and I reported him to his office each time. When I worked as a substitute teacher (I was 21), I always got mistaken for a student, even middle schools. Teachers would always act crazy and talk at me. Once they found out that I was an adult just like them, they would completely change their approach towards me and say “OMG, I’m so sorry, I meant no disrespect!”. This has been an ongoing issue for me as well in dating, workforce, and relationships in general. I have made it a point to avoid wearing trendier clothing and opting for a more modest and classic style to gain more respect. Even though I think bows in hair look pretty, or whimsical accessories are fun and cute, I will avoid purchasing things like that because of the way people have treated me. Unfortunately, I have also had to be more mindful of being too friendly or letting my guard down and allowing myself to joke around and be silly, because it can come off naive, ignorant or immature. I have allowed some gray strands to peak through my hair, and it might help. But people have tried me for that as well and have tried making me feel insecure about it. I actually have come to a point where I don't mind gray hair and can feel confident, wise, and beautiful with them showing. I started getting grays in high school even though I have for the majority of my adult life looked 7-12 years younger than my age. I enjoy dressing more feminine, mature, and modest because I feel most respected, confident, and beautiful. I feel like I have more power, like you stated, because I get to control how much of my body/beauty I choose to show off. I'm in my 20s but apparently people mistake me for being in high school when I finished college and I'm planning on going back to college for a different degree. I want to add I can relate to how wearing different clothes makes people behave differently. I used to work in an office where a suit is required and when I'm out in public I noticed right away how I get more respect and treated kindly. But now I wear casual clothes and people ignore me or treat me very rude (especially older people).

Yea...it can be both flattering and annoying. I usually feel flattered when young bloods card me when I use to drink. It gets annoying when the 20 something crowd sees me as a peer instead of an auntie or an elder. It's like...I am not for play play! 😂

I got asked out in the street by a 13 year old when I was 22… so embarrassing. My ex was 34 and I was 23 when we were dating and some guy started following us in the middle of a busy street calling him a p*do… I was dressed up too, in heels and a mini dress… embarrassing 😩 the only good point is getting cheaper bus tickets 😂

ME! omg I’m 25 now but was 21 and went to the casino with my aunts (two Latina women) and I’m blatina light-brown skin 4a/b hair. And the casino staff literally accused my aunts of possibly TRAFFICKING ME and sneaking me into casino with a fake ID, they thought i was a minor LOL we had to put my mother on facetime and talked to police/security and later laughed abt it with them. But Jesus Christ LOL this is a common occurrence in my life, i no longer take it as a compliment it’s become an issue overtime and ppl tend 2 disrespect me when they assume im a teen

Listennn...🤣🤣🤣 I look young at 45 AND I have a "young" sounding voice. Whenever I wear jeans and a t-shirt or hoodie, I look like I'm in my twenties to other people. When I talk to people on the phone, they automatically assume I'm a teenager🙄. I remember getting a call from a solicitor about windows for the home. The other person on the line heard my voice and automtacally asked if they could speak to the adult homeowner of the home. I said, "You ARE speaking to the homeowner! " 🤣🤣

@@ladyeamI’ve had people assume I’m younger based off my voice too and it’s crazy. A older white woman who is a boomer tried me by making fun of the fact that my voice is soft. I don’t sound haggard and raspy like older women usually do. Sometimes much older women do a lot of projecting onto other women because they feel bad for getting old. It’s a blessing

Omg! Story of my LIFE, I get that it’s supposed to be a “compliment”…but I’m 33. I’m okay with my age, I’m not one of those people that feel old or whatever. I paid my dues and been done with my dumbass 20s and I’m a grown ass adult. Idk what’s going on with a lot of Millennials but my husband is 43 and people guess he’s 26-32. I’m 29, turning 30 soon and no one has ever guessed I’m above my early twenties. Throughout my mid twenties and late twenties everyone guesses something between “high schooler” (16/17/18) up to early twenties. In the past year and half I’ve had multiple of these Zoomer high school/early college kids hit on me try to ask me out and asking which school I go to 🙄 If I dress in office casual and actually take the time to do my makeup people do guess I’m 20-22 rather than a teenager lol

LOLLL ive noticed that when you’re petite and thin… you will get treated like a child… if it’s paired with a young face… I’m petite but I’m curvy and plus sized. Also in my early 30s but everyone assumes I’m In my 20s… it’s the height… body frame… and face… and it’s very annoying! You’re treated so differently when you appear young! Also if you’re light skinned or mixed I think ppl assume you’re younger too… for some reason! Because darker skinned petite blacks aren’t given this treatment .

Girl don’t get the gray wig, it will make everything worse lol My husband’s kid is 19 and I feel like in every group/friends photo I see like half of them have hair dyed a neon/rainbow/pastel/atypical color. Because of the “granny hair trend” (yes, this is the actual name teenage/college-age zoomers call it, look it up lol) various shades of gray/white are now one of the colors these kids are dying their whole head. If you get the gray wig I honestly think you’ll just fit in with Gen Z even more lol

This has been happening to me since I was a teenager. I remember when I was 17, someone even thought I was 13. Now I'm 36 and people think I'm in my early 20's I've even gotten 19 a handful of times. I'm grateful and flattered that I look young but people need to respect me.
