Thank you for the honest review. I don't generally trust any product reviews in newpapers/magazines anymore due to marketing bias. Same goes for fragrances which are suddenly promoted by multiple influencers at the same time. Your honesty and expertise is why I follow you.

Its because they are sponsored articles, around 16:11 you can see it says" Sponsored Content Provide by Machines Agency" It isnt really hype but PR and they pay for it to be featured. Same thing at 17:26 "This article was published in partnership with Blu Atlas. Okay last edit I promise. at 19:46 it says sponsored and "by our partners at Verma Media"

I think Ash at Gents Scents did a review of this fragrance last year sometime and he wasn't very impressed either. Doesn't sound like something I would enjoy as powdery and musky fragrances aren't my favorite. I bet the articles that are putting it at #1 everywhere are paid deals with the publications.
@raulsaavedra709 Жыл бұрын
When Ash talked about it in his video it was in fact the very first time I ever heard about that fragrance. Now with Sebastian's it's the very second time. In a way this makes me glad, because it tells me I'm effectively filtering out quite a Niagara Falls of BS about fragrances going on out there

@mvr2579 Жыл бұрын
Paid sponsorship. Almost all magazine(and their websites) are promoting this because of money. There are a lot of youtube reviewers as well. This doesn't just go for Atlas, but most websites are just phony promotions that get advertising money. It's almost impossible to get real reviews of any type of product.... I mean, you can't even get straight news anymore because they all are sponsored by conflicting interests. I think Blu Atlas is bad, not horrible, but way overpriced, and yes, feminine leaning. I respect your take on this cause so many reviewers are just promoting this for sponsorship. So far, just you and Gentscent have criticized this brand.

Awesome video Sabastian!! Thanks so much for sharing this, I purchased blu atlas Atlantis because of a recommendation from a reviewer who I appreciate and identify with his “taste” in fragrances. After purchasing and wearing Atlantis I was totally disappointed with the longevity of this fragrance, it smells Amazing, but for only 2-3hrs on my skin, after over spraying on top of preparing my skin with nourishing body oil and body butter from Kiehl’s….. I wear Atlantis sparingly simply because I don’t get to experience it for long! Appreciate you Perfume Guy!!

Thank 👏🏻you👏🏻for this👏🏻review.👏🏻 Uniform praise is NOT thoughtful art critique, and the community has to get over the "positive commentary only" mindset. This video is one part fragrance review, and one part investigative journalism. We can't shy away from that. If anyone gives you guff over this, they're misguided at best. This was solid work. 👍🏻

It sounds to me like they have showered the publications with free products. This is an example of how good marketing can propel a mediocre product to fame. The general public aren't very discerning and they will believe whatever crap a magazine dishes up.

Based on my research (thanks Google!), because I was curious about this brand I’ve never heard of that claims to be #1 in so many lists, Blu Atlas was sold about a week ago for “an undisclosed eight-figure sum” to Foundry, a Dallas-based brand platform “specializing in acquiring, nurturing and growing online brands.” It was Foundry’s third acquisition in the men’s personal care industry.

I remember it getting a lot of hype from a few other KZbinrs last fall. I don't typically look at any fragrance articles aside from Cafleurebon reviews or pieces shared on Basenotes or Parfumo, so I, thankfully, missed all this BS marketing hype. Stuff like that makes me not want to even try a brand. Thanks for sharing your experience and highlighting what you discovered.

Sebastian, thank you so much for the review of this fragrance. Also, thank you so much for calling out the dozens and dozens articles I have seen the Blu Atlas Atlantis fragrance. I thought i was the only one seeing article after article, with glowing reviews and ranked #1. The brand is a phenomenon. Blu Atlas has been exiisted January 2022 and has received millions of dollars in editorial placement in magazines, vlogs, online magazines, in just about any kind of publication you can think of. The brand was recently acquired by Foundry, a brand platform specializing in acquiring, nurturing, and growing online brands, has acquired Blu Atlas for an undisclosed eight-figure sum. Thanks for validating what I was thinking seeing article after article on Blu Atlas. The fragrance might be nice, but something smells funny about the company's practices.

Thanks, Sebastian. I bought this a year ago, looking for a new signature scent for summer. Why not get the #1 rated in all the feeds, right? I was more disappointed in the fragrance than the marketing scheme, although it's deceptive. You'll find one ad syndicate mostly writing the bulk of the articles, then the publication filling in #2 thru #10 to give each "article" variation and part authorship. I've tried wearing it this summer and just put it in a drawer. There are too many better frags for daily use. And cost? $25 for a two-ounce jar of shaving cream? No thanks . . .
@jimlittle5769 Жыл бұрын
How does a person know for sure they paid these reviewers? Because it's impossible for that many people to go through a ton of fragrances and have that many agree on a top 10, much less a top five. So we are supposed to believe so many chose the same fragrance as the best? If you asked 30 people truly into fragrances what the best fragrance is, almost assuredly, you'd get 30 different answers. It's too subjective.
@hungrybowl625 Жыл бұрын
Loved the video, Sebastian. I totally get your frustration. It's either network or the money. I believe it's the latter. Fragrance industry has a lot of money. People make a lot of money from fragrances esp. these creators on KZbin. A fragrance that can last for 4-5 hrs you can EASILY make it happen for under $20-30 in Dubai and we never know if they mass order/produce these products there. Not even Dubai, CA Perfumes in Los Angeles sells perfume for just $34.99 (100ml),I like few of their original creations (not just clones). If you get into fragrance, Sebastian, I guarantee you're gonna make a lot of momey and get sold out pretty quuck. 😊

Same marketing dior did with sauvage, and mfk did with br540. Standard issue to get bottles sold. Makeup palettes do the same thing, skincare brands do the same, it's just marketing in the 21st century. Commercials on TV don't sell perfume anymore.

Thank you for the honest review, I've got my noise on it threw a sample and as you said not a bad smell but within an hour I had to really put my noise to my skin to get the smell. I think the company is paying great money to get it at the top of every list if you look at sales Sauvage is number 1 by about 60 million dollars of the number 2 and Blu Atlas is nowhere on that list of the top 20. As I've said before I've not seen it in any store and if it was that good it would be on shelves everywhere or sold out on Atlantis website which it is not.

I keep having to explain media literacy to people. The company, this brand, paid for their spot in these articles with these digital listicle sites. Corporate media entities that predate the internet, like your washington posts and your new york times, since the dawn of free information in the internet age have been struggling to bring in the revenue they used to. So they sell their writing to brands to create these silly listicles where they disguise marketing. That's simply the reality of marketing and media outlets these days. I'm so surprised people fall for the artificial hype. Haven't people ever heard the saying "you can't always trust what you see/read on the internet?"

To me, the regulatory status of this "enterprise" is problematic. I visited their website - the Terms of Service section is outrageous. There is no information about the company (no full name, business address, etc). The contact form offers no info about this entity either. There is no mention of the state laws that govern a possible dispute. The so called "Board of Medical Advisers" includes names from LinkedIn who have no mention of Blu Atlas in their CVs. I believe, Sebastian, you have offered us a piece of brilliant investigative journalism. However, you are overly polite. I would dare to be harsher - this whole Blu Atlas looks like a multi-level marketing scam. Thank you for the alert.

Very strange that they didn't try to buy you, leaving you this confused about it all. I've never even heard of this fragrance and have purchased hundreds and hundreds of samples. What do you recommend on a good unscented deodorant so that it doesn’t get in the way of your nice fragrance that you want to wear. @michaeldevose8923 Жыл бұрын
I wear fragrances for me mostly, no disrespect, but influencers rarely persuade me to blind buy fragrances. I always sample (98% of the time) before I buy. You guys bring the fragrances to my attention. Pique my interet. But not blind buy. Fortunately, I found a decant of this and decided to buy a full bottle after sampling. I think it was worth $95 I paid for it. Very fresh, fruity (mango) and tea like. Reminds me of a few fragrances - ADG, God of Fire. Yes, the longevity has more to be desired. I overspray and get decent performance. I'm waiting for my Molecule 01 and see if layering will help. It is good but not worthy of the hype.
