My thoughts on the new Dior Homme 2020. Why oh why it's the same, name, same bottle but brand new fragrance. This fragrance dosn't deserve to be called Dior Homme. @@JloveLamar I would recommend local flea markets/trade markets, or you can also check those Perfume shops at the local malls. They generally have the important stuff like Dior Homme. A local trade show vendor has a 150ml bottle for $85. My opinion, that's really good. Plus you can smell it before you buy it.

We have to understand that LVMH is a multibillion company that's obviously after big revenues more than anything else. It's actually easy to understand they're pursuing more mass pleasing fragrances than those that would be appreciated by a small group of connoisseurs and enthusiasts. In fact, the same applies to just about every business sector these days, and it's only a sign of the times.

This from a basenotes thread about this new release : "I've now called the Dior product manager at LVMH, who was super friendly and helpful and explained what's going on: The whole line get's a new packaging. Dior Homme Eau is going out of production. The existing Dior Homme EDT is going to be sold as long as stock lasts. Release of new Dior Homme EDT is next year around mid January. There will be a new Dior Homme EDT Original which should be similar to the exisiting Dior Homme EDT. It will firstly be sold primarly in France and Belgium and on Dior.com - also Douglas in Germany will get it in stock exlusively at the first time. They are not sure if it's going to be more widely available in future. Dior Homme Intense will not be reformulated in near future. Dior Homme Le Parfum is still in production. Same for the Sport and Cologne."

Dior Homme reminds me of Tere D'hermes EDT, but DH is fresher. I tried it at the store but since the bottle was empty, it barely came out but I insisted on spraying it. I thought it wasn't enough to let me smell it but I was quite surprised because half an hour later I could smell the fragrance very well! And in fact, it lasts longer stronger with you which I sprayed quite a lot on my hands.

The Original Dior Homme DNA was made by the now in-house perfumer of CHANEL Olivier Polge. Francois Demachy merely improved on that DNA with its flankers so that led me to think that Dior wants to "redefine" the Homme line in 2020 as a signature of Demachy himself. I would have to side with Dior on this release because frankly in essence Olivier Polge is the one who "gave birth" to the Homme DNA of Dior with its "signature" iris note. With that said, i am very excited what CHANEL will release next for its men's line of fragrances. I would love to see Olivier Polge bring his expertise on iris to CHANEL.

So far, people who loved the original didn't care for this one, while people who are not familiar with the original seem to enjoy it. @@ferbeybill That is interesting. Yes... had to buy a few back up bottles of the OG, as well as DHI. Ironically, I was interested in the new 2020 because of the comparisons to other ISO E Super frags which "work" for me at work. Not bad to have non-offensive work scents for office use. My only real issue is the rebranding of a legendary classic. Could you imagine if Creed decided to just drop the original Aventus and instead sell a Molecule 01 clone in new Aventus packaging? Aventus is probably a bad example because of the clones that exist, and Aventus Cologne is almost exactly that....but I'm sure you know what I mean. : )

Thank you for the review. We can't get it in London at the moment and it's not featured on the Dior UK website. This is just yet another typical mistake made by 'out of touch', lazy Corporate "Drones" - They are idiots. A wasted opportunity to launch a new range using a substandard formulation that will only damage their brand. The fact that they've stated on the packaging " The New Fragrance" strongly implies to me that they're keeping both lines running side by side. The original line is a very strong seller. However, they have deleted the original line from the Dior website in the USA. Dior Homme Parfum is still readily available to order in the UK and yet is not listed on the UK website. Finally, "The New Fragrance" is not listed on Dior's website in France.......The whole thing's a corporate mess ! lol

I tried this a few days ago at Macys. It smelled pleasant on the card. They did not have samples, so I sprayed my arm and left. The sales rep liked it and said it was spicy. I did not get that, but it does have pepper. I could smell it in the wind walking to my car and seemed nice. On the way home, I become confused. I have lost most of the scent and it is very different from the paper card. A few minutes later, I catch a whiff in my car which I enjoy. I arrive home confused with a soapy, grassy scent on my arm and a fresh, sweet woody scent on paper. I have no wood. I look online and realize that the base note is Iso Super E which will vanish from your smell along with the wood and others. The grassy soap was from the vetiver. A few hours later, it was better and I liked it. It seems like a nice choice for daily wear and I will revisit soon. Give it a chance as I went from like to not to like within several hours. It doesn’t smell like other designer fragrances to me and maybe not what the fanboys wanted. However, Dior obviously made this change based on sales. The original might be groundbreaking for the Iris, but that was 15 years ago. Iris has been used everywhere for many years. It is 2020 now. Change can be good. I know DHP is a fan favorite but not a sales favorite. High selling products are not discontinued, and this was happening much earlier in 2019. DHI is no longer listed on the Dior US website as of earlier in the week. More changes to come. I agree the marketing campaign is confusing, but Dior must have seen value in keeping the name and selling the rest of the 2005 & 2011 inventory.

Such disappointment. I see Dior differently now. Not because I’m hating the new fragrance. But such poor marketing and company decisions on this. Dior Homme 2020 is not bad on its own but could have easily been a new fragrance altogether as a new name and bottle bringing more revenue and hype to the bar and and collection or even did a Gucci move and called it Dior Homme II or even Dior Homme night or whatever, and continue with Dior Homme original with iris being the main ingredient as their main headliner for Dior Homme collection. Was their a fallout with original homme perfumer and wanting to phase him out? Was their a new executive decision wanting to have a new similar common scent as the new Homme to cash in on sauvage success of mass appeal? Was their just a desire to just change the Homme line altogether and changing the scent is the first approach for a fresh start? Why change something that is doing well and brought you success? Poor move on their part. I feel like they just wanted Dior home to be represented with a new scent to start something new probably the line being changed as well for fresh take but doesn’t that mean what we know and love of Dior Homme is no longer that? I loved Dior Homme original and it brought me to like Dior Homme (since I liked Fahrenheit in the 80’s and 90’s) even more especially since they did the Dior Homme line and boutique and starting to lik the style. It was masculine/urban/elegant and treading on metrosexual blurring the lines between men/heterosexuals and being more open to fashion. With that said, erasing or replacing Dior Homme original fragrance with something “new” and evidently the new generation scent, you can tell Dior is opting for heading towards the mainstream masses and appeasing the new generation by a new company move or new designers and executive making decisions and forgetting being unique, daring and what is respected by door which is designer and art and bending rules. I’m hoping this isn’t the new Dior outlook and some ridiculous head in the house that’s a pro binary and progressive that seem to always think they are changing the world and being the voice for new generation and anti tradition and anti art and believe their bias selfish woke view on art is the new future. Because everything woke and progressive turns to shit quick!

Just got a bottle of this. Didn’t like it in the card, liked it better on skin, but smelled “eh” to me. 3 hours later, I can still smell it and like it a lot more. Dior wants to be updated and have something to compete with the other big dogs in the business. Dior Homme was somehow polarizing where I live, there were people who loved it, but many who hated it with a passion. I like them both!

I never owned the originals and just got a bottle of this, but you pretty much nailed it on this one. it is pleasant and soft yet a little old school smelling and masculine. its good but not great. just wish the vetiver shined through more on the drydown, but that dusty musk just overpowers it... they shouldve put a little vanilla in the base. i layered some vanilla body spray on top and its not bad..

I live in a "3rd world country" but Weirdly everything that comes out on the day of the launch of some big high end designers like Dior or CHANEL and even exclusives like the Dior Homme parfum is available at a local luxury mall and the boutiques can be located at their respective websites! Man this frag is such bs. They should have called it "Bleu De Dior" cause this ish is BDC rebottled... This mess is less citrusy than my ex-btl of BDC, but still heavy citrusy...to the point of not being able to smell much else. Yes, it was dumb for Dior to release a formulation of Homme that has little in common with the line. But the testers are _everywhere_ (!), so anyone who just "picks up" a bottle of Dior Homme 2020 without SMELLING it first deserves what they get. 🙄😏

This is like Sauvage, if ambroxan was replaced with Iso E Super. It's pretty basic. Bergamot, pepper and Iso E Super.

Glad I got a 100 ML bottle before they changed the formula...haven’t smelled it yet, but have a bad feeling that I’m not gonna like it. Thanks. Now they ruined my 2nd favorite perfume ever since Jean Paul Gaultier II Unisex was discontinued. The seller at the store I was at told me it was the last bottle they had, as Dior was gonna change the formula after the new year as I got it back in November. Was gonna get Sauvage, but hate the smell. I prefer heavy woody, musky sweet scents.

Sebastian one word you probably didn't want to use but I think the fragrance is actually boring. I received it as a gift , but it's just going to get lost on the Shelf in my collection. Damn I'm so disappointed. This is just another cash grab from Christian Dior. Nothing groundbreaking at all. I hate when a house of perfumery does this.

The opening seemed to have nothing in common with Dior Homme, but the dry down it began to resemble DH Sport to my nose. It's a pleasant scent, but probably a pass for me.

I just smelled this at Macy's and I swear it smells like nothing. What can the fuck where they thinking ? Excuse my language but I'm shocked it has hardly any smell. The lady at the counter told me her higher ups told her that she was supposed to say it was like a layering cologne lol. What a joke release. I lost respect for one of my favorite houses. Seems to be the norm these days. It's all a money grab and I can't stand it.

@@Denco12 Sadly yes, I went on fragrantica to write it under DHP, but there were already some comments were other people contacted Dior and got the same response. If Dior doesn't bring back a version of DHP which is at least as good as the original one, the price of this current version will easily triple. I already got myself 2 backup bottle just for personal use and not really intended to resell them later on, cause I really love this fragrance. It makes absolutely no sense to discontinue this fragrance, but maybe it wasn't that profitable for them because of the production costs.

Found myself a couple of bottles of DHP a couple of months ago at a local mall in the UK, I asked the lady on the Dior stand to check the drawers underneath and hey presto, bagged myself 2 bottles, worth a try anywhere, you never know your luck!

Sebastian, I feel like Dior should have come up with a whole new LINE for this fragrance. Of course the "Blue Fragrance Masses" will love and enjoy it but re-branding a new frag over a classic is confusing (and I might even go as far as saying disrespectful to the original) for sure. I believe fans of the originals will be disappointed and people who never smelled or cared for the original will enjoy it. Perhaps they could have just called it something like Dior Homme nouveau and have a slightly different bottle shape....perhaps move from Rectangle to cylinder shape but with the exact same aesthetics. I think that would have made a better launch. With that said... I'm heading to Paris later in the year.... any chance you can give us a few recommendations on some Paris exclusive fragrances I should be aware of?

They are keeping Dior Homme (The Original 😅) in France, Belgium and Germany. It is still one of the Bestsellers (if not THE Bestseller) from Dior in these areas. Eventually, it will also be available in other areas even though Dior is not releasing it (yet) worldwide. Interestingly, I have not seen the new Dior Homme in any of the French and German perfume stores (offline and online), only the old formulation with “Dior Homme Originale” printed on 🤔. Anyways, I guess, they are giving the new fragrance the name “Dior Homme” is because Dior Homme is THE flagship name from Dior. They want to bring Dior Homme into the 2020s. Still confusing though 😂

That leads me to believe that sales in the USA is probably not as good so they want to rebrand themselves for the North American Market. If they would have just outright discontinued the OG here and then release this new version in a slightly different bottle shape I think it would be better received.

I have been wearing Dior Homme 2020 for the past week and I just do not like it. I tried to and almost forced myself into thinking it was good, but I hated the performance and overall scent. Terrible. DH has been castrated, bound and locked in a dark cellar imo.
