oh my gosh, seeing As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow in this video was such a lovely surprise! I'm friends with Zoulfa in real life, and she is such an amazing, determined person, and i truly believe she will make great change with the stories she tells. It's been an honour to sit next to her while she wrote parts of this book and to read one of the early versions of it. On behalf of her (because I'm certain she would agree) thank you for reading her book!

i highly recommend a tale for the time being by ruth ozeki because that book TRANSPORTS you. It is quite sad but it feels extremely real like I looked up several times if the main character was a real person because it felt extremely relatable. It’s also in a multiple pov format so the pacing is a bit faster and there’s also an aspect of the book where the main character learns to appreciate the little aspects of life (which I know you love), also THE WRITING OMG I was completely hooked by the first page and felt that way throughout the rest. I would give ozeki another shot cause I think she’s worth it and I think you would really enjoy it 😊

My heart jumped with a wee bit o' joy when you picked up "The Night Circus"!!! I generally read the classics but every now and then try a contemporary read for diversity and to overall shake things up. This time I simply wanted to go some place fun, far and away, and 400+ pages in, I am not disappointed. Note: I'm also not a circus person and this story has more to do with magic and relationships so do not let the circus thing deter you. Though my girlfriend told me that I need to read this and "Water for Elephants" back to back, but I've heard that is a really good story too so, hey, I'm in! 😍
@ComeUndun.2 жыл бұрын
I read Water for Elephants 11? 12? Years ago, but I remember becoming completely engrossed in it. Like you, I don't love the circus feel, I'm on the opposite end, where I'm thinking "I should read The Night Circus. I liked Water for Elephants, so I'll probably like this." 🤣
@deblawrence83412 жыл бұрын
@@ComeUndun. I just finished "The Night Circus" today and like you, was completely engrossed in it. The ending wasn't a surprise as there are fortune tellers within the story, so you have a feeling where things are going. For me it was the beauty of the story telling and how Erin Morgenstern literally invites the reader into the intricate details and world she's sharing with us. The last chapter is directed to "you" the reader, and for me at least, that was very special and pretty darn cool. Looking forward to Elephants and I appreciate your comments! If you think to do so, if you ever read The Night Circus, please share with me your thoughts. ❤

I've been hard pressed to get myself to read anything lately but hopefully I'll be able to pick up some more reading this December once I'm done with my work for the term. I have Early Riser by Jasper Fforde and R.S. Thomas' Collected Poems out from the library that I want to try before I go to my parents' place, and my copy of A Cat's Day by Genie Liang arrived about a month ago after backing it on kickstarter. Do you dabble much in the "literary classics"? My uncle recommended me a whole bunch of them that I'm hesitant to try to read because I know that they're going to be written like they're the age that they are (early 1800s etc) and it's going to take commitment to settle into that writing style.

( reference to the tiktok audio ) i agree that the writing was beautiful and there was so much potential but the author has a habit of going off on tangents which seriously threw me out of the story. considering the length of the book, the authors inconsistency and lengthy tangents just made it .. :| also i literally wanted to scream at my laptop when you picked up the night circus , mentioned you wanted a book thats transportive and PROCEEDED TO PUT IT DOWN 😔😔😔😔
