There was no better chemistry of Bugs and Daffy than in this movie. There's something immensely satisfying about a duo that argues all the time, but when it's time to get a job done, they have synergy like no other. The way Daffy instantly jumps on board Bug's "Deck of Cards" gag is fantastic.

Not Emmy power, Oscar power. Ironically though, only one Bugs Bunny cartoon has ever won an Oscar: 1959's "Knighty Knight Bugs". The other Looney Tunes cartoons that won were 1947's "Tweetie Pie", 1949's "For Scent-imental Reasons" (the only one of the bunch directed by Chuck Jones rather than Friz Freleng), 1955's "Speedy Gonzales", and 1958's "Birds Anonymous".

This film really humanized Daffy. He’s been the butt of the joke multiple times, got fired for complaining about it. Meanwhile, Bugs just needs to “munch on a carrot” and people love him. Then the movie pulls the rug from under us saying this whole thing was just staged
@profchaos9110 ай бұрын
i feel like they also did a good job at humanizing bugs. He's shown deeply caring for Duffy and actually trying to give him recognition. Also, he's appreciating him through all the movie, up until the end. Bugs is the big star, but he absolutely states that duffy deserves a lot of the credit for their success.
@girl12139 ай бұрын
@@profchaos91 Really showed the problems the Toons have with Bugs too, even though they aren't directly blaming him. Daffy is not the only one who Bugs overshadowed in popularity. Porky is shown being genuinely angry at his circumstances with the producers with his stutter and his sense of humor. Bugs doesn't have to deal with "politically correctness" or a disability. (Porky's stuttering really made people suffering from the disability feel heard) Even Speedy agrees it ain't fair since he was profiled as "racially offensive" but none of the Mexican audience think that: they LOVE him as he is. You never heard that from Bugs even though he participated in a lot ethnic stereotype cartoons ("A Father in his Hare" for example) because he was defending himself from being hunted. Kinda shows that Sam, Elmer, Wile E. and even Martin actually do have genuine grievances with the bunny, making their antagonist roles more personal rather than for comical. For all it didn't do well in the box office, "Back In Action" really WAS a criticism of how fans treat the Toons
@DesertRider-zs2qb9 ай бұрын
@@girl1213I've been catching on to that myself recently. I hadn't thought about it before, but throughout the movie, Bugs has made a point in stating that Daffy plays a crucial role in his own success. As a kid, I never really understood what Bugs and Kate were arguing about in the restaurant. But as an adult, I've realized that Bugs is the first to recognize that his show is dead in the water without Daffy.
@girl12139 ай бұрын
@@DesertRider-zs2qb That's why from what I've seen the other Toons don't give him a hard time. Bugs is smart enough to know his success is thanks to them, which is something Kate is ignoring. Daffy's problem is he was the number one toon before Bugs came in and took his place and he didn't do anything different from Daffy to do it. But without Bugs, Daffy wouldn't still be relevant. Their relationship as co-workers makes sense and why being friends with one another has ups-and-downs because that's the reality of relationship: they're messy and often complicated. People can certainly relate to that.

As much as I love A New Legacy, the way we barely got any Baffy moments between these two was a real shame, and while certain parts of Back in Action could be better for me (the human romance was so forced and while Jenna Elfman seems nice irl, her character was super annoying to me) they really understood Bugs and Daffy's "old married couple energy" relationship with one another. Daffy and Bugs work best as a duo which act as roommates. They argue and agree on some things but when shit hits the fan they act as if there's no issues between them whatsoever, then straight back to their argument.

The effects of this movie are really good. I know it's not a masterpiece, but I think it carries the spirit of roger rabbit and the looney tunes really well

I love how Bugs was written in this movie. He wanted Daffy rehired not only because he likes him, but because Daffy’s integral to the comedic dynamic. Otherwise, it falls flat like the movie shows later. And Daffy struggling with wanting to be revered just like Bugs was something interesting to follow as well. I like how the movie gives them both a lot of nuance and characterization beyond their usual tropes. We see more of that in Looney Tunes media in the more recent years, but that wasn’t all that common when this movie originally premiered.

I like to see them like the movie Hancock (yes the Will Smith movie but bear with me) both are immortals and powerful entities who have been existing for almost a century and no matter what happens and how many versions of them are created (Golden era, back in action, looney tunes show etc etc) they always end up together.

Lmao I been shipping these two without ever knowing it but like can we also give huge props for the late Joe Alaskey? Joe Alaskey was the voice actor for Bugs and Daffy in this movie and is definitely a huge reason why the chemistry between those two was amazing. Besides the great Mel Blanc, Joe is definitely one my favorite voice actor for Bugs and Daffy. I love this movie and I truly hope that one day it gets the recognition that it deserves.

Excuse me for being a nerd boomer, but in the late 80s (or early 90s if I’m not that accurate) the term “gay” means “happy” till later after 2000s when they usually meant “homosexual” So yeah, from your perspective, I can tell where you’re going, but afraid to tell you where you’re not supposed to go
