I get bored when I see musicians showing how to use a foot pedal looper… with their hands? Makes me keep my RC1 and not want to purchase any other so called updated loopers. Maybe that’s just me. Certainly there has to be someone out there who has enough intelligence to invent a Hands free Looper that has all the bells and whistles.

Great vid but for my needs still lacking a more in-depth review, specially regarding midi capabilities, midi clock syncing etc. Etc. The RC-5 has a midi input but I’m not sure if it can accept midi clock input.

The main thing I need is the ability to pre-record LOTS of loops and with the click of one button or food-switch, go from loop 1 to loop 2, then to loop 3, etc etc.

Even if you had a looper like that it would be really hard to use it in practice because of varying tempos and the whole point of the looper is to show the creation of the loop to your audience. Your better off just getting an audio interface and making a backing track custom fit to what you are trying to play

Hey Ben, thank you very much for the detailed explanations, which I find very helpful. But may I also make a suggestion regarding the design of the video? It is extremely exhausting to listen to you for longer than 5 minutes because on the one hand you speak very fast (!) and on the other hand the accompanying images also rush across the screen at a frequency that their information potential (i.e. what reaches the recipient and sticks) is close to zero. It would be very pleasant if all the information was blown out at a speed that also gave the receiver the opportunity to.... receive ;-) Hope, you don't understand me wrong... Thank you very much!

Hello Ben. Can you tell me which of the top end loopers have a retrospective record function? Ie you”re improvising along until you hit the killer riff/melody/beat and you want to capture that 1/2/4 bar section into the looper. In my eyes this is better than hitting record and hoping you play the killer part correctly. Maybe they all do this - i’m new to these gadgets! Thanks.

can you split the loop and main outputs with the rc 500 like you can with the rc 300 which you do with the sub outs. I use two amps one for my loop sound only and one for my Main sound only the separation sounds better thanks

Hi, I’m trying to decide which looper to buy between rc500 and Mhx 95000. I’m afraid the 16-bit on the mhx will be not as clear but it also it has many channels so I won’t need to over dub much probably. I want to practice, create/write music and preform with singing, precision and classical guitar so sound quality is very important and many channels can be very helpful. Do you hear a difference between 32 and 16 bit also without many overdubs? Which looper do you recommend?

I am intending to begin busking in Spain where I now live . I’ve never used a loop pedal . I had been looking at the RC30 for ages then they bring out the Rc500. Hey! Thanks! The BOSS RC-500 has a great modern feature set! The only major benefit of going with the RC-30 for busking would be the extended battery life .The RC-30 has a much longer battery life compared to the RC-500. This video here may help you further! I have to say I'm feeling a little sorry for the RC10r, it got a bad wrap and as a result is being left out of these discussions. Yes I completely agree on launch it was a bit of a car crash. However, the firmware updates and some practice it really is solid. Yes I think the RC500 is the better pure 2 track looper overall but the RC10r really can pull out a very good drum support on solo live looping especially if you do live improvisation looping or song writing.

@@fgonzalez90 Hi, yes I have the RC10r but will also likely get an RC500. I haven't used it with a midi switch but it can be done. I use two FS-5U to do track selection and things like that.

The midi and controller functions are very easy to setup. They have a menu setting in the menu and you can plug in the device and just select which bits are doing which. I'm thinking of investing into a 4 switch midi controller

Can I record the rhythm guitar from a verse/chorus with a loop pedal and then play it later on when I want to play a solo over this loop? I don't think it's a good idea to hire a solo guitarist to play a 30 second solo once in a song when I can play it myself.

I am a loop artist, I run vocals (for singing verses, beat-boxing, and looping harmonies,) an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, and a keyboard into a 4-channel mixer, and run a single line out into my 720 looper. I want multi-tracks, something with more features so I can be more versatile and dynamic with my live performance. Was eyeing the 500 or the ditto x4? My 720 is 24-bit, I tried the rc-300 but holy crap that 16-bit is atrocious. What is the best loop pedal for me? The reason the ditto x4 is so attractive to me is the one mode that repeats the same moment, and the fade out, etc, those fx are seemingly the best fx I’ve seen on a looper from what I’ve seen, but I’ve meard it’s not Reliable for live performance and that the stop button isn’t easy to use, it’d be nice if you did a video on tha pedal. I am swimming in these options and don’t know what to get, I’m leaning towards the 500 I think Based on your videos. It’s a shame these companies don’t get with it and really just make a premium pedal that doesn’t sacrifice any features! I’d pay top dollar

You can overdub endlessly on a one track looper. It’s a looper, not a sequencer. Composing can be done without a looper as well...

On the rc500 can I play both tracks at the same time? For example maybe I have a drum track or some sort of percussive rhythm saved on track 2, and I’m using track 1 to play and loop some stuff on my guitar. Can I hit track 2 at a certain point in my song to have that rhythm come in without stopping or effecting the loop on track 1? Sorry if this is a silly question I’m still learning about loopers.

Hi Ben, really enjoying your videos! I’m thinking of buying a looper pedal to give a bit more variation to my live acoustic set. I’m looking for something that has at least 2 channels and has built in effects such as reverb and delay that can be assigned to the different channels. Eg. reverb on the vocals and delay and reverb on the guitar. From what I’ve learned so far it seems like the RC 300 is the only pedal that has this capability. Hi again! I have issues when using RC-5 as midi slave device to Machine software. Glitches / Artefacts! I had the same with RC-505 (Track tempo Sync Off made the glitches disappear but that led to another issue - tracks start / skip bars and stop randomly, so that was not a solution!) Can you test it with master clock coming from a DAW? Preferably Maschine? I wonder if this is also the case with Rc-500.
