James Cagney was on set on a very hot Summers day in 1962. filming "321". He took a break one lunchtime and wondered why he was working in the studio when he could enjoy the beautiful weather. He only acted to "put the bacon on the table", and announced his retirement. He became a farmer.

Brilliant film with superb performances from Louise Fletcher, Brad Duriff, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Dee Vito, William Renfield and many others. And who could forget Scatman Carruthers as Mr Terquel and the big Chief.

I'd assume it was production issues. Usually if a movie get's too many rewrites and reshoots the costs will eventually add up regardless of genre. Still it's a baffling amount that you'd expect more from an action blockbuster :P

My dad took early retirement at 64. He died just two weeks before his 65th birthday. I planned to retire at 55 and did so. I wasnt going the way Dad did. I'm 68 now and still enjoying retirement lol. Roll on Jack, way to go.
