Looping with Maud the moth - The ultimate live looping setup: Reaper DAW + Super8

After a long journey my live looping set has reached its final form via Reaper DAW and its native looping plugin: Super8
Me and my friend and colleague ‪@KempStrings‬ worked with ‪@deadbeef‬ / Justin Frankel to add a faded-out stop and fix a couple of bugs.
In this video I explain the updates and demonstrate some of the stuff that super8 can currently do, using the live version of my song "Finisterrae" (Orphnē, 2020) as I have been performing it in my shows lately.
PS: Midi mappable buttons referred to in 3:13 and 7:50 map to note/cc/pc number, rather than "channel". Sorry!

nice video! I love super8 and I'm having a blast discovering everything that one can do with it. I would love to see a video that more precisely shows how you use super8 with your controllers and instruments! I had an idea om making a project similar to maudthemoth, mainly using my own vocals and piano. Btw! Wonderful music!

Awesome, not into looping much but you make it look easy, I'm sure there is more to it than what I see,at least hearing wise, you have +overdub so I imaging you are playing with some backing tracks.

No backing tracks other than a small string sample! It's all done live :)

Can we use it to loop vst? I've been trying to figure that out for a long time ;(

@@dvcs2 my looped pianos are from a vst, but I place the looper after the instrument (routing-wise) because super8 can only take audio. Having said that if you record a session using super 8 and record all the midi instructions in the looping channel (record, play ovdb etc) and later decide to change the instrument vst, the render of the looping track will also be updated with the new instrument :) Hope this helps!

There's one thing I haven't figured out yet: Super8 stops playing back/monitoring my other tracks as soon as I select the ones I'm recording to. Do you have a quick solution for that? :)

I had the same problem, so what I did was I created new tracks underneath that, and I called those monitor tracks, and I sent from Super 8 to those tracks and it works.
