Awesome jam, boss!!! The Rytm is my personal fav drum machine, I have an MK1 and I like the way Elektron update the firmware for both the MK1 and MK2. Elektron and maybe Novation, are very good at keeping their existing customers happy, it certainly garners brand loyalty. Having said that I'm not sure I would want to spend the extra at this point to get sampling (I use an OctaTrack for that, which I bought after my experience using the Rytm). I do feel that the black edition is possibly a swan song, and that something new and shiny is in the pipeline.

@ToyKeeper3 жыл бұрын
Similar story here. I've had a Digitakt for years, but I find I almost never use most of its features. They're kind of neat to have, but typically aren't what I need. Most of what I want is to lay down a rhythm quickly, adjust the timbres to fit the song, and then record it and a few variations into my DAW. Elektron devices can certainly do those things, and a whole lot more... but I often get the feeling, while I'm scrolling through sounds or manually copying settings between patterns, that I could probably get the same things done faster and easier with a cheaper device. The extra features end up slowing me down. Like, I can't just sit down, create a new project, and start making beats. The workflow requires me to spend a bunch of time building a drum kit first, which is not what I want to be doing at the time. I can't just lay down some beats and then scroll through kits later to find one which fits. It doesn't even have a concept of kits. Then later, after making a bunch of patterns, if I want to adjust my kit... it has to be adjusted manually for each sound in each pattern. So I've been thinking about selling it and replacing it with a Drumbrute or something. I'd lose a bunch of features, but I mostly don't use those features anyway, and it would speed up my core workflow.
@Sadows123 жыл бұрын

I appreciate seeing you review this, though I think the Rytm is a tough instrument for you to cover in your typical format, mostly because of how deep it is. I’ve spent years with the Rytm and only recently decided to dedicate myself to mastering the analog drum circuits. They are extremely capable of reproducing many analog sounds, particularly when skillfully combined with the filter, overdrive and LFO for modulation. Given where I’m currently at I feel like you kind of glossed over this machines analog drum capabilities, which is a shame, because I actually think that is where it really shines. Its dual VCA synth capabilities are one of my least favorite aspects, yet they always seem highly attractive to new users.

It’s nice to have a channel doing such a good content. I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak. I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds. When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap. I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power. In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with. What would be your suggestion? Thank you!

It’s phenomenal the way you can stack samples and re sample and the I/O’s. I love how in depth you went. That alone made me very interested but the fact I don’t want anything to do with the synth sounds is what’s making me weary or to look to another machine. @@station2station544 yeah I happily admit stealing but not this time.

I am struggling to choose a sampler/drum machine since a couple of months. Digitakt? Octatrack? MPC One? MPC Live? SP 404... so many options. After watching this video (probably 3 or 4 times) I decided to pull the trigger on the AR. Thank you for helping me, your reviews are the best!

ive honestly been in this "lets see what else is coming out" game for a year now, ill tell you what i think is the decisive selling point for me, nothing else will have "the Elektron Sequencer" .. ..

Awesome. I have never used an Elektron instrument but the sequencer always get rave reviews. But yeh I may just get the AR.

aaaaAAAAAH. Why did they have to charge so much for this?? But leave it up to Loopop to make me want to spend the money on it anyhow. LOL. I'm always late to the party, but this is a sweet device. Would't even be considering if not for the usual awesome review, thanks Loop you just cost me 2 more bands! Haha
